I adore Kasey Stockton and when I randomly saw this pop up, I requested it immediately which I'm so glad I did because shortly after it disappeared.
I love Pride & Prejudice and it was interesting seeing it as a retelling but from a POV we don't always get. I loved seeing the modern mix with the old. The characters drew me in slowly but I did not want to put it down.
I’m a sucker for anything Pride and Prejudice inspired. I’ve always had a thing for Mr Darcy and the enemies to lovers is my favorite trope.
I was thrilled to get this book and dig in and I was delighted with it. Liam sounds delicious and I liked their chemistry. Charlie has a bit of a past that I wish the author had spent a little more time building up though, it felt rushed by the time she addressed it in any detail and I found I wasn’t as invested in that part of the story.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing me with an e-arc of this book. My opinions are my own.
With Pride & Prejudice being my favorite classic and a book title like this, how could I not want to read this book? Like the main character, I've seen both the 2005 version of Pride and Prejudice and the BBC miniseries. I loved seeing all the little references in this book!
This story is about a 26 year old girl, aptly named Charlotte Lucas. She works at a bank, not using the degree she studied for and lives with her parents, mainly because of the costs. She is not very big on the whole dating thing - unlike her best friend, Beth. Yes, like Elizabeth. So when her elderly neighbour asks Charlotte to be a blind date for her grandson, she's not immediately sold on the idea. This isn't just a regular date, it's some sort of work thing. Said grandson will see his ex there, with her new boyfriend, so he definitely needs a date/buffer for the evening. It will be an evening never to forget!
I loved Charlotte's character a lot, as well as Liam's. Overall it was well written, sweet romantic story. It finished it in one sitting, it's just one of those books to read if you're in need of a cute love story! I'm definitely going to check out more work by this author!
I enjoyed the connection to Charlotte Lucas and the main characters growth. It culminated to a satisfying ending. Thank you NetGalley for a copy, all opinions are my own.

A modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Charlotte (Charlie), finds herself single, at twenty seven, she doesn't want to end up like her namesake in the Jane Austin novel. After hearing others tell her, that she isn't capable, Charlie, finds herself, doubting all the good things others say about her. From, even trying to have her friend be her replacement in a blind date. This book was a fun quick read, one that I enjoyed.
I received an arc in exchange for an honest review.
Charlotte Lucas doesn't want to end up like the Charlotte of Pride and Prejudice- 27 years old, no money, no prospects...
When she meets Liam and all his good looks, charisma, and money, she has a hard time ignoring the chemistry they have while also trying to remember that the Darcy's of the world are too good for her.
Pros- fast and sweet. Charlotte's storyline about her passion for art and the way her low self esteem impacted her life was relatable and interesting.
Cons- Liam was just too perfect. I wished this was a dual pov so that we could fully understand his character.
loved every moment of this story and book. I wanted to get more and loved it all. will read more from this author. YEAH book.
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
2.5
i debated stopping about a third of the way in. i continued because i WAS curious how things would turn out, but overall i felt detached from charlie and her story. that being said, her insecurities are pretty relatable. i liked liam, although he seemed a bit unbelievable at times. i would’ve liked him, as well as other side characters, to be more developed.

I loved this book! It was just the perfect sweet and romantic read that I needed. I’m Not Charlotte Lucas is written by Kasey Stockton and it was just a great read! This was a sweet contemporary read with wonderful and engaging characters!
Charlotte was such a wonderful character! I loved how relatable she was. She was trying to find herself and she feared making mistakes. Charlotte was in a rut. She was stuck in a life cycle and she didn’t know what to do with her life. Charlotte had to learn to let go of the past and look towards the future. She had to learn to hope again. I loved reading about Charlotte growing. Liam helped her see that she was perfect just the way that she was. Charlotte had to work on herself and realize that she didn’t need to fit a mold. Charlotte learned to reach for the stars.
Liam was a sweetheart. He was just trying his best and I loved him. I loved his relationship with his brother and how he was down to earth. I liked how Liam wasn’t perfect but he had his own things to work through. He was trying to raise his brother and he just didn’t know what to do. It was also cute to read about him with Charlotte, he really fell hard. Liam had to learn how to love Charlotte and show her that he cared.
Liam and Charlotte were just a perfect couple. I loved their interaction and banter. It was so fun. They really complemented each other and it was sweet to read about them falling in love. They had to work through exes, meddling grandmothers, and social status but it was worth the journey. I really like the way Stockton wrote her characters, they felt so real. I also really liked the side characters and I hope that Charlotte’s best friend, Beth, gets her own book.
I adored I’m Not Charlotte Lucas and I would definitely recommend it! You need to add it to your TBR! I want to read more of these characters and I hope that Stockton writes more books to add to this one. I’m Not Charlotte Lucas is a clean contemporary romance with hints of Pride and Prejudice sprinkled within, hence the name.
I voluntarily reviewed a complimentary copy of this book which I received from the publisher through Netgalley. All views expressed are only my honest opinion, a positive review was not required.
A fun read about accepting yourself
This book follows Charlotte (Charlie), a wonderful woman who is always ready and willing to help another person, as she struggles to see and accept her worth in the world. Charlie had a high school teacher that praised her art but college was not as kind. Now she works as an assistant manager of a bank and doesn’t paint. When a neighbor asks Charlie to go to a charity gala with the neighbor’s grandson, Charlie refuses. But soon she relents and agrees to go. When Liam arrives to take Charlie to the gala, Charlie simply can’t help but feel out of place. Here she is surround by the rich and famous while she’s Charlotte Lucas’ namesake of the Jane Austen character and not fated for such noteworthy friends. Liam disagrees and starts his own campaign to try to have Charlie see the woman he sees. Mix in a meddling grandma, younger siblings, a best friend, an ex-boyfriend and a Hollywood diva and you have a delightful story of discovering your own self-worth and following dreams. Thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for the copy. This is my review and all thoughts are my own.
This was a fun book. I loved the sweet love story that starts right from the beginning. I didn't love Charlie like I wanted to I felt she was so up and down. One minute she knew what she wanted and the next she had no idea. She was so up and down the whole book. The ending didn't go like I planned. There needed to be something greater to wake this girl up. I felt like she changed too easy. Everything resolved too quickly especially someone with such low self esteem. It takes years to dig out of a hole like she put herself in. There was lots too love but it was not a fav.
Clean romance with some kisses.
