"Frost" by CN Crawford is a captivating urban fantasy novel that seamlessly blends elements of magic, mystery, and romance. Set in a world where supernatural beings coexist with humans, the story follows protagonist Sienna and her journey of self-discovery as she navigates the complexities of her newfound powers. Crawford's vivid world-building and dynamic characters keep readers hooked from the very first page, while the intricate plot twists and turns keep them guessing until the end. With its unique take on the genre and compelling storytelling, "Frost" is a must-read for fans of urban fantasy.
Frost was a great read! I loved the mythology in this book and the story of how Fae and the humans interact. The dating show aspect was a fun background story and so much action! I can't wait to read the next book!
I really wanted to like this but it was just so slow and it was rather unusual to read. It’s set in the modern day but the writing is a mix of present language but sounds historical for some reason. I get that it’s supposed to show the distinction between the fae world and the mortal but it was just very jarring. Another issue was the addition of many features of the magic and mortal world coexisting. We are told things and made to accept them but they just don’t make sense and then there is no further detail. It was just rather confusing. I did like The Selection but fantasy inspired plot but it just took a while for me to get into and I probably won’t read the others in the series.

The blurb made this sound super interesting, and kinda like a fae version of The Selection or the Bachelor which it was but was poorly executed. You’re able to predict pretty much everything plot wise that's semi important or considered a ‘ mystery ‘. Another issue I have is how fast pace it is, it feels like so much more could be put into the book like extensive wordbuilding etc. Our characters Ava and Toirn were okay, I mean their romance felt a little awkward, there was tension but it felt super super super awkward at times and just plain out forced. I loved Shalini the most character wise, she seemed fun. What I loved about the book was the competitions, they were fun to read and I was never bored during that.
Although this book was lacking for me a bit, I will read the second book to see how this story ends because I’m curious.
Thank you to Netgalley and Victory Editing for an e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
This is a fairly quick read. I enjoyed Frost! I liked Ava and Torin. Ava is a strong character, with very little understanding of her Fae heritage. Torin is more human than I thought as the Seelie King. I liked the plot and the intensity of the challenges. This story is fun to read. It had some humorous descriptions of what-if scenarios.
Ugghh. This one. The way this was marketed vs the way it delivered were two totally separate entities. This was marketed as a fae fantasy such as in the likes of ACOTAR or The Folk In the Air series. What is actually is is just a fae romance where everyone wants the guy. Thats the story, the end. If this is your thing, you will probably like. But if not my advice would be to skip it because what it seems to be by the synopsis vs the reality are very different. This one wasnt for me.
Great exposition - it was a very devastating opening to the story. You really feel Ava’s pain and humiliation. (That being said, don’t EVER pay a man’s mortgage). This was a good intro to a new series with solid world building, if a little formulaic plotline.
However, there is a lot of fantasy romance out there, and available on KU, and this series really didn’t stick out to me in a way that’s making me desperate to pick up the next one.
Read and reviewed this Advanced Reader Copy from NetGalley.
Thank you NetGalley for allowing me to read this book as an ARC.
I loved this book story and connected with the MC so easily. I love these types of books. It starts out with a character who is wronged by someone she thought she loved. Well it ends up being something close to an all out win my love match with a bunch of Fae men. I loved that this is book one in the series because I was left wanting more at the end of this book. Everything was very well written and I Will be reading the entire series.
I was excited because the concept of this book was so very interesting and right up my street, I was not wrong at all, I didn’t end up liking it, I loved it. I mean I’m a huge lover of fae romance, any PNR really. this is the beginning of a solid epic fantasy with secrets and tension, I loved every bit of this seelie and unseelie , curses, changelings, tournaments to the death, action, romance what didn’t I love ! Absolutely nothing, I need more now
I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Book one of the series follows a story line similar to an episode of "The Bachelor"... but the contestants are much more brutal. Ava is a likeable MC and Torin has a deep secret that keeps their relationship from developing. Total forbidden romance! It was an entertaining read but ended on a cliffhanger. I look forward to reading the next book.
I have come to absolutely LIVE for Fae romance.. and Crawford delivers and then some. My only issue is that I never wanted it to end! This book has intense moments, fast paced and so much sizzling slow burn. With how this one ended.. I need the next one STAT! My heart was racing during those final pages and left me breathless!
When Ava comes home on here Birthday and catches her fiancé with another woman, she does the only thing she can she do, get drunk! When the king of the faeries comes into the bar, in here drunk in stupor she begins to insult him. Then he makes her an offer she can’t refuse!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own
I was excited because the concept of this book was very interesting but I ended up not liking it. The dialogue was a little unrealistic, seemed a little juvenile, the very first chapter where she catches him in bed with someone else and literally throws food at them made me cringe.
The fact that this fantastic read is on Kindle Unlimited is amazing. Go download it asap for a fantastic fantasy read.
Fae, Unseelie, curses, changelings, and tournaments to the death - the beginning of a solid epic fantasy adventure with secrets and tension everywhere. No epic is worth without a bit of strained romance added in.
Frost is the first book that I have read by C. N. Crawford and it won’t be the last. Frost is the first book in the Frost and Nectar series. This gripping tale pulled me in from the very beginning. I loved getting introduced to Ava and Torin and can’t wait to read what happens next with them in the next book in the series.
I absolutely loved this fantasy novel and recommend it to anyone looking for a good fantasy story. The only thing that I didn’t like was the ending. I was expecting there to be a section with Torin’s reaction to Ava disappearing and some commotion from on lookers at the castle as well.

This was a fun read. It isn’t spicy but full of delicious tension. Excited to see what is in store for us in book 2. This would have been a five star read if it had been less predictable. I wanted to work a bit for the mysteries. But I loved the characters and the story!! Well done.
I really liked the concept of this book and I also enjoyed that it was set in the modern world as well. I found the world-building (although slightly small) was interesting and the idea of a Bachelor-style show being set for a fae royal marriage.
However, for most of this book, I was just underwhelmed. I felt like the stakes weren't really all that high. I enjoyed the banter and tension between Ava and Torin, but nothing really occurred within the story. The premise was so interesting that I feel like the story lost a lot of its potential. I liked the story- it was still a good story, It just wasn't great. There could've been some more substance to the plot given all of the intrigue, politics, and secrets. I would read the sequel, but I think the execution for this book missed the mark.
(And possibly, it was just the ARC version I received, but the story kept changing between it being her 23rd birthday to her 26th. And then the birth records needing to be 23 years old to 26 years. I never actually knew how old Ava was and it didn't seem like the author did either- unless this was a rough draft and the mistake was caught before publication?)
Thank you to NetGalley for the E-Arc
Tension! Tension! Tension! the slow-burn romance in this is all about the slow tension build-up. By the end I was dying for more and honestly can't wait for the next book. The description of hunger games meets the bachelor is definitely correct and I think this was a fantastic take on the fae. This is a great option for people looking to get into more adult fantasy romance. Has a lot of very popular troops but is also a bit darker and more mature.
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the early access!
I loved the idea of the story, and the book didn't disappoint. I can't wait for more!
