The book covers a different perspective of military life - one from the viewpoint of the military family and their sad loss in combat.
If you are interested in learning how military families support one another, or how the welfare system in the Army works or indeed the human element of a military force then this book is for you,
I felt the book was a little slow and repetitive in places, but it did convey the emotions of losing your partner or father in military conflict,
I think a full report on the actual combat in Iraq leading to the Major's death would have benefitted this book as very little was really written in detail.
