This is a perfect fit for readers who crave heartwarming, feel-good romance stories with a strong sense of community, loyalty, and second chances, set against the rugged backdrop of the American West.
I enjoyed this book but it wasn't a stand out book for me in this genre.
I thought that the book was a little slow to start and get moving and that did affect my enjoyment.
The storyline was ok and it was a good romantic and sexy read.
It is 3 stars from me for this one, just wasn't one I gelled with from the outset.
I really enjoyed this story. I felt bad in the beginning when the guys had to figure out how to take care of a baby by themselves. As the story went on it got better and better.
This was a great story to read on a cold winter day. You have three men who all were in the marines together who are now running on of their family’s ranch. They are completely shocked when Dave arrives with a baby and leaves it there while he travels. They are left having to take care of a sweet boy and wait for the mother to show up. Little did they know the mom was something else and would win their hearts and one heart in particular. I loved this book and can’t wait to read more books by this author.
Three Cowboys and a Baby is the first book in a new series by Kate Pearce. It is a sweet contemporary romance that was inspired by the late 80's movie Three Men and a Baby. It features three handsome former Marines turned cowboys who are living on a family ranch together. One day a former marine who served with them shows up on the ranch with his infant son. He claims he is looking for the family of the child's mother and that they live in the area of the ranch. Reluctantly, the cowboys try to help him find this family with no real luck for any of them and this is when he sneaks out one night leaving the baby behind.
Noah, Luke, and Max are stunned to find baby Sky has been left there by his father. At first they want to go to social services but decide to wait it out and see if the mother's family comes to claim him. The three men are bachelors with their own routine and it takes them a little bit to adjust to a routine with a baby. Plus, they have to care for the animals on the ranch. They are finally getting used to their routine when Sky's mother Jennifer shows up at the ranch.
Jen is active duty and was delayed in returning to land. It is because of this that was late trying to meet up with her sons father. Noah immediately judges her and the two characters clash. Each of them is a little rough around the edges because of the things that they have been through. When a snowstorm traps Jen at the ranch with the cowboys, the close quarters force the two of them to look at each other in a different light.
I enjoyed Noah and Jen's easy banter with each other. There was this chemistry that was building between them that each of them tried to ignore. Each of them felt that there was too much at stake especially with Sky to give into the temptation of being with each other. Honestly, this was a little frustrating at times because these two were so hard headed. Sometimes all they needed to have was a real heart to heart.
I also enjoyed Jen's interactions with Luke and Max. She just seems to fit in with this group of cowboys. Each of them have brought back some baggage back with them from being in the service and this is reflected in their daily actions. It is obvious that even when the three former marines get on each others nerves, they always have each others backs. I thought all characters felt realistic with their mannerisms and emotions. I could feel myself getting attached to them especially baby Sky who was just simply adorable.
Three Cowboys and a Baby was a wonderful introduction to these characters and the ranch. I look forward to seeing more of Noah, Jen, and Sky as Luke and Max each find their happily ever after. The two of them can be just as hard headed as Noah and Jen. Potentially even more so when it comes to Max. I look forward to seeing who catches him off guard and captures his heart. There is a possibility hinted towards the end of this story for one of them but, I'll just have to wait and see what actually happens.
Three Cowboys and a Baby by Kate Pearce is a contemporary romance that begins stressfully with a baby being left behind by his father, to be cared for by three ex-Marines at an isolated ranch, while the father flies to Africa for an unspecified job, trusting his friends will step up. I found this very stressful and had to skim a bit; the flaky father had not informed the mother where the baby was, and after she returns from her deployment she ends up doing a lot of cross-country traveling before being reunited with her son. Jen, the mother, is in the Navy and works on a hospital ship as a midwife; she’s competent and confident except when it comes to romance. Noah, the gruff former gunnery sergeant who took primary care of the baby before Jen arrived, finds it difficult to trust and swears he never wants children, while at the same time being gentle and devoted to the baby. Reluctantly, they begin to respect each other. Then, they get snowed in. For a long time. Jen and Noah are competent at each other and soon their attraction becomes too intense to ignore. Steaminess ensues! I was in the mood for something light, and aside from the anxiety-filled setup, this book filled the bill.
Three Cowboys and a Baby (Three Cowboys #1) was a great read by Kate Pearce. An old military buddy turns up at the ranch that Noah Harding shares with two of his friends. He never imagined that the friend will skip out overnight and leave his baby behind. Noah will do his best to take care of the child until his mom shows up, when he will give her some choice parenting advice. When Jen Rossi arrives, Noah realizes that the story is more complicated than he thought. He soon develops feelings for Jen. Jen is shocked to learn that her ex abandoned their son with three men she doesn't know after she returned from an extended mission. Noah seems to be doing a good job as a fill-in daddy. A winter storm is settling in and the close quarters in making it impossible to deny their chemistry. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.
I love Kate Pierce's books. She creates splendid characters, intriguing and detailed settings and marvelous stories. This is the first of a new series. It is similar to the Tom Selleck, Steve Guttenberg, and Ted Danson movie in that 3 rugged men are left with a baby and have to figure it out, but in this case it is 3 retired marines turned cowboys and it is the baby's dad who abandons his son with his former team mates with a blizzard approaching while he goes off for a job. He also sent the mother of his child, a Naval officer, on a cross country wild goose chase from the west coast to the east coast and back again, looking for her son, Sky. He also implied that she had left him with the baby,, leaving out the part that you can't just quit the Navy. His team mates know he is irresponsible, but first buy into his version, until they meet Jen. Luke and Max quickly embrace her as they have her son, but Noah, because of his own abandonment issues is a hard sell. But eventually he thaws and they are very attracted to each other, but have communication issues. Great character development, exploring all kinds of modern social issues, especially those that ex-soldiers go through. For me, there were too many sex scenes, so it got 4 stars instead of 5, but that is my personal taste. As always with the author's books, I eagerly await the next one.
I read an ARC from the publisher, provided by NetGalley.com. This is my unbiased and voluntary review.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Jen and Noah. Jen is a midwife in the navy. Noah is retired military and helps run a ranch in Northern California. A fellow ex-military shows up at the ranch with a child, then leaves without the child. The mother of the child, Jen, shows up months later. Come to find out she was delayed on her return to base when her ship had to go to aide. Right after she arrived at the ranch there was a snowstorm that lasted several weeks. During that time Jen and Noah got together and fell in love.
I’ve been a fan of Kate Pearce’s cowboy books since I read my first one, The Reluctant Cowboy, in 2016; it doesn’t seem like 6 years ago. Three Cowboys and a Baby is the start of a new series and I enjoyed reading it.
Three former Marines living and working together on Nilsen Ranch get a surprise when another former Marine shows up without notice with a baby in tow and then leaves without his baby. The baby’s mother, Jen, (unbeknown to the three cowboys) is a Navy nurse who was unable to return in time to pick up her baby from her ex-boyfriend before he had to leave for a new job.
It takes Jen two weeks to track down where her ex left their baby, Sky. In the meantime the three cowboys having been taking care of him with Noah taking the lead because he has the most experience with babies having taken care of his younger siblings.
This is a good forced-proximity, single-mother story. Noah never thought he’d fall for someone with a child but he’s not only been charmed by Sky, he’s also fallen for his mother. Jen and Noah get up to lots of sexy time together but agree it can’t be anything serious (but readers know better).
Jen’s ex shows back up and stirs up trouble when he realizes that Jen and Noah have something going on. It takes the help of Noah’s friends and sister to get him on the right track so that he and Jen can get their HEA.
I think we got a little hint about who the MCs are in the next book and I’m looking forward to finding out if I’m right.
A review copy was provided by the publisher via NetGalley but this did not influence my opinion or rating of the book.
Three Cowboys and a Baby begins the Three Cowboys series with a heartfelt romance full of steam, frustrations, laughter, and one adorable little boy, Sky. This story had me wrapped around one little baby’s pinky and never ever let go.
Luke, along with his military friends, Noah and Max are tending Luke’s family ranch with hard work, and determination while finding exactly what they each need in this remote location… a place to heal. Each has their own story to be told, each has his own wounds to be healed. But when a military friend comes to town looking for someone he can’t find he stays at the ranch… until he sneaks out leaving his little boy behind. Now Noah, who has the only experience with children, is taking care of little Sky all the while fuming at his friend’s actions and the baby’s absent mother.
But not everything is as it appears on the surface so when Jen, the baby’s mother, arrives in a desperate search for her son right before a snowstorm is about to hit as tempers flare, misunderstandings happen, and questions pile up almost as quickly as the falling snow outside that will leave them snowed in with only those on the ranch to deal with whatever happens next. Noah didn’t expect to discover that Jen had been away on a mission with a delay in returning only to find that her ex had taken off with their son as she made a cross-country search for Sky. Neither was looking for romance but then no one really ever expects it when fate steps in and puts you in the right spot at the perfect time to find your forever person.
Three Cowboys and a Baby is a well-written, engaging, believable romance full of everything that will make me smile and flip pages quickly. A touch of frustration, lots of (often unintended) laughter, some steamy encounters, strong friendships, and an adorable baby to tie them all together. I had such a fun time in this world and definitely will be watching for the next release in the Three Cowboys series.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are my own – good, bad, or indifferent.*
This was a brand new author for me. I enjoyed the original storyline, setting & characters, but could have done w/out the spicy bits. I give this book 4 stars.
Kate Pearce never disappoints. The way she tells a story is superb - it really brings the reader into the hearts and minds of the characters. The characters are realistic, have their own challenges and angst while not becoming a caricature and so similar to any others within a particular trope which would make it so predictable. Would absolutely recommend this or any other Kate Pearce book.
An interesting twist where three men deal with having a baby dropped off. Then weather takes a role in helping one of the ex marine’s fall for the baby’s mother.
What did I like? Unique story and the typical angst that comes from this type of situation. Jen and Noah battle a few things out for their HEA!
Would I recommend or buy? Things definitely get interesting when a baby is in the mix. I enjoyed how everything unfolds and would definitely recommend to romance lovers. My first by this author and read for Brenda Novak’s book club.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley to read and offer my opinion. Four stars!
There is so many reasons readers will love "Three Cowboys and a Baby". Noah, with his two friends from their military days, works on a ranch owned by the family of one of them. Add in a baby dropped off by a former friend, and you have a heartwarming read. They run into a bit of a problem when Jen, the baby's mother, comes looking for her baby and they find that their 'friend' lied to them. Stuck at the ranch due to a blizzard, Noah and Jen are at odds, but will they still be by the end of the snowstorm? I was gifted "Three Cowboys and a Baby" via NetGalley, leaving my review based on my reading. 5 Stars
Three Cowboys and a Baby is the first book in a new trilogy by Kate Pearce. In a variation of theme, the story draws influence from the 80s movie Three Men and a Baby. When former marine Dave Riley arrives at his former commander Luke Nilsen’s ranch outside of Quincy, CA, he says he is seeking refuge when his son Sky’s mom did not return when expected. He talks about a job offer, the men catch up, but when the men, Noah, Max, and Luke, awaken the next morning they find that Dave has gone AWOL and they are left with a baby.
The only one of the three that knows anything about childcare is Noah, but he has sworn off this endeavor after practically raising three sisters while his single mom worked three jobs to keep them afloat. But Noah does rise to the occasion and Sky is thriving.
After many weeks a harried Jen Rossi, USN midwife from the ship USS Mercy, finally locates her son at the Nilsen ranch after crisscrossing the country twice by bus to find him. She arrives during a blizzard and the ranch is snowed in for weeks to come. While there, Jen must negotiate the ire of the three marines along with her angst regarding the father of her child, the good time fellow Dave with whom she had parted ways before Sky’s presence was known.
As Jen establishes inroads with the marines and reestablishes her relationship with her son, the blizzard rages on. But once the thaw begins the birthday present Jen didn’t want for her son arrives offering marriage and a family. Jen is smarter than that but does end up leaving with Dave and heading to his Mom’s California condo. But that is by no means that!!
As with all Ms. Pearce’s novels, this story is a delightful romp as her endearing characters find their places in the world. I very much enjoyed this book and I do recommend it!
Quick review for this one.
If you appreciate the single-parent cliche, this narrative can sound promising. Yet, until you read the plot, the title could be a little deceiving. Additionally, I had the sensation that the first half of the book moved at a breakneck pace, while the second half moved at a glacial pace. It was a little monotonous in my opinion, and it made it hard for me to proceed.
The side characters piqued my interest, but the main characters did not. Their relationship was unusual, and they frequently changed their minds.
Unfortunately, this was not the book for me :(
Three Cowboys and a Baby is the first full length story in Kate Pearce’s brand-new series, Three Cowboys and is an emotional roller-coaster ride that’s sure to keep you on the edge of your seat. I liked the concept of this story and while I loved most characters, others set my anger soaring. A great start to a new series and well worth addition to Ms Pearce’s extensive library too! An enjoyable and entertaining storyline is sure to keep you captivated throughout this book and definitely have readers itching for more.
A cute romance. A plot taken from a old movie. Very entertaining and an enjoyable read.
I received an ARC from Netgalley.
Wonderful story! I enjoyed the characters and the way the guys tease each other. It reminds me of hubby and his firehouse guys. They are tease each other like that. I love happy endings Looking forward to the next book in the series.
