Heart wakes up feeling out of sorts. All of his friends, various shapes, try to help him feel better, but nothing quite works. It isn't until Heart asks himself what truly makes him happy does he figure out how to turn his day around.

This is a cute story about friendship and being true to yourself. It's also a great sneaky lesson to help kids learn to identify shapes and their characteristics. The art is cute and lively. This would be a fun classroom introduction to a shapes lesson to help engage kids.

Many thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review!

A book for the very young, with primary coloured shapes all trying to help the lead character, Heart, get back from a bit of a slump. Square can't do anything, Triangle fails, none of the Circles succeed. How can Heart possibly lose that down, dumpy feeling it woke up with? As the closing advert for teaching material to accompany this suggests, this looks at the colours and shapes, but also the power of friendship to recover a positive emotion. I can't pretend it's an outstanding book, but I can't pretend I see it failing either, so four stars.

"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Even one is unique and has their own gifts. Shapes are the same, some shapes roll, some stack and some love.

Very cute book with two lessons: different shapes and uniqueness

A+

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

This is a short story about shapes, essentially. You see, there is a heart (the shape we're all used to seeing, not an actual human heart) that just wants to do the things the other shapes do, but can't, because it's shaped wrong for those activities. To make matters worse for our friend Heart, they started out the day feeling pretty blue. In the end, Heart feels better and helps another shape that doesn't have the same shape dynamics feel better about themself too.

The illustrations in this book were funny and colorful, showing the shapes playing games on the playground like going down the slide. It was the most interesting to see Heart trying to twist itself to participate in different activities, but that might be because I'm a bit evil. I wouldn't personally want to read this book too many times because it was fairly boring, but it would definitely be helpful to teach shapes to small children. Overall I give this book 3.86 out of 5 stars.

This cute children's book about shapes tells the story of a sad heart who is turned upside down and can't do all of the things his friends, triangle and circle can do. One day he enjoys himself with his friends and gets turned around so that he is right side up. He later meets a rhombus who wants to be a star and cannot, he takes what he has learned and shows love to the rhombus and makes him feel better. This is a simple story about being unique and also teaching the names of basic shapes. I think this would be a great book for Preschool and early years students in the age 3-7 range. Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for giving me the chance to read this book.

What a bright and fun book about shapes, friendships, and individuality! We all have our strengths and weaknesses. But we shine brightest when we work together with love for one another. ❤️

Wonderfully illustrated and positive message of friendship and love. My 3 year old enjoyed the illustrations and I enjoyed the positive message of the importance of individuality. Love Will Turn You Around is an excellent piece of literature to introduce young readers to nurture their individual talents and image.

Very cute book about love and acceptance.

Heart's friends want to help him feel better, but when he tries to imitate them, he cannot.
Then Star comes along and encourages him to be himself and asks him what makes him feel better about himself.

This is a great children’s book about perseverance and to keep discovering who you are. It also shows us that we are not meant to be anyone but our true authentic selves.

I loved all the colors and illustrations.

Not only great for littles, but as well as early elementary aged kiddos as well!

An adorable book for toddler/Pre-K audiences with bold colors and simple but loveable illustrations. Appropriate story that incorporates shapes and colors and that introduces common emotions and how all of the characters are different. Great for schools, libraries, or any read-aloud settings. My toddler enjoyed it.

This was super cute! I thought it was a cute story about waking up and not feeling like yourself, but your friends rallying around you trying to make you feel better. And then you turn around and see someone else struggling and can help them! Ugh, it was just precious. Such a great lesson for kids.

Our Thoughts ~ we found this book to be really relatable and enjoyable. The Book itself was about a heart who didn't feel like himself and instead tried to be like his friends to feel like he fit in. Along the way he learned that it is better to be yourself and that loving yourself can turn your mood around. Very heartfelt short and sweet to the point. Easy for my daughter to understand she enjoyed the shapes and color story.

This was a very cute book, it's great for teaching kids about some basic shapes like circles, triangles, and squares. While also teaching them to be themselves and do what makes them feel good about themselves, even when that isn't exactly what your friends are doing. It shows them that loving yourself and others can turn someone's day around so they can go from feeling sad and not good about anything to happy. My one year old loved the bright colors of the shapes.

Heart wakes up not feeling quite right but with the help of his shape friends and some self-reflection, Heart knows just what to do to turn his frown upside down. This is such a sweet story filled with social-emotional themes of love, kindness, friendship, and teamwork while introducing the properties of basic shapes and color. The illustrations are cute and crisp. This book makes for a fun read aloud that young kids want to read again and again. This book would make a perfect addition for any preschool, kindergarten, or early elementary school library.

A sweet story about self-acceptance. A heart awakens one morning a bit "out of shape." And though he, and his other shape friends, try to fix the problem, nothing helps. He's still upside-down and feeling out of place. He can't do anything the other shapes can. Eventually Heart remembers what make him feel special and gets himself turned the right way around.
Munson does a great job explaining each shape's identifying characteristics in a kid-friendly way while Talbot's colorful art adds a whimsical feel.

This was a very cute picture book and one about shapes which I also enjoyed. Our friend "the heart" doesn't feel quite right, he feels not himself today. He doesn't quite know what's wrong, but with his friends - the other shapes, they will work together to help our Heart feel his best again. During the book, we read as Heart meets other shapes who try to get Heart to be just like them from a Triangle to a square to a circle to more complicated shapes like stars and rhombi aka multiple rhombus. Of course, we all know which way a heart is supposed to be and he's in an upside-down mood today. Can the other shapes, get Mr. Heart to turn his frown upside down into a smile and become the shape he is supposed to be? Love will Turn You Around by Mary Munson is not only a great children's picture book to teach shapes and colours but also talks about feelings and emotions and what Love makes you feel.
This picture book is suited to children aged 3-7 years old with beautiful illustrations by Kate Talbot.
