This is the second book by this author, though like the first, Sleeping Bear, it is a standalone. Brian Rhome is a broken man, his cabin that has been in his family since it was built by his grandfather, is being foreclosed on, he works driving a snocat grooming the local ski hill in MT. Brian realizes that he's being followed by a black SUV that looks like most government type vehicles and he's actively avoiding it. Brian used to work for the CIA in the Ground Branch, until he lead his team into a trap that killed everyone but him, which resulted in him coming back to MT and avoiding all. He eventually meets with the government types who offer him a substantial amount of money to do one job that offers redemption for his lost comrades. He agrees and soon finds himself back in the middle east, he quickly completes the job and is offered another by the Crown Prince at a very substantial amount, 2 million for one job and 4 if he does two. He's hesitant and asks for time to think it over. Meanwhile President Buchanan is going to sign a Green Accord with a number of countries to eradicate fossil fuels from use. There are a group of people that are actively working to undermine this signing, and have planned to make a dramatic statement during the signing. There is a lot going on in this book and trying to figure out who's a good guy and bad guy really captured my attention, I would highly recommend. Thanks to #Netgalley and #Atria for the ARC.

Connor Sullivan hit a home run with Wolf Trap.

Former CIA Ground Branch operator, Brian Rhome, gets pulled back into action when a plot to start World War III is uncovered. Facing his tragic past Rhome must pull out all the stops and do whatever is necessary to stop the conspiracy before time runs out.

Sullivan has a great new character on his hands with Brian Rhome. I'm hoping this turns into a series because this book was amazing and we need more.

No sophomore slump here! Connor Sullivan follows up his highly entertaining debut, SLEEPING BEAR, with this fantastic outing featuring Brian Rhome. Rhome has quite the sordid past that leads him on an apparent kamikaze-type mission to atone for past mistakes. Chocked full of espionage, betrayal, deceit, and all the other antics one would expect from the seedy side of DC, this one is not to be missed!

Book: Wolf Trap
Author: Connor Sullivan

Fans of Brad Thor and Vince Flynn will definitely like this book. As the story unraveled and the characters became better defined, I liked it more as the story progressed, right up to the fitting reveal, determining the following SCORE:
Setting: Multiple interesting locations including Yemen, Saudi Arabia, Switzerland, and Washington DC
Characters: A huge list of characters of interconnected Saudi Arabians, Iranians, good politicians, corrupt politicians, and military personnel, with the main protagonist, Brian Rhome, providing the required action and heroics
Overview: The US President is celebrating the upcoming world approval of her sponsored Green Initiative, but other nefarious and unpredictable parties will go to extremes to make sure that doesn’t happen. Many different twists and turns, high level operations, secret code names, and complex multiple plots and subplots keep the reader involved and guessing until the end.
Recommendation: I rate this book 4 stars, and fans of the genre would probably rate it even higher.
Extras: This book would benefit from a Cast of Character listing up front, similar to what Stieg Larsson did with the complex set of his character in the “Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” Once I had the extensive list of key players sorted out, the story took off.
In summary, fans of action and political thrillers should not miss this, particularly if not familiar yet with Connor Sullivan. My thanks to NetGalley for a preview in exchange for an honest review.

Connor Sullivan jumped on the scene with his stunning debut novel Sleeping Bear where he proved to the thriller world he has the skills. Now with his second novel, that is separate from Sleeping Bear, Sullivan has proven he is here to stay. In Wolf Trap, Sullivan crafts a story of regret and what the tole of this is on the human psyche. Wolf Trap is a novel that is hard to put down! Once you pick it up, get ready for a marathon reading session.

In Wolf Trap, we are introduced to Brian Rhome, who was a CIA Ground Branch paramilitary officer in his past. Rhome is now a broken man with no future ahead of him. Rhome is being followed by a suspicious black SUV that scream government, and when Rhome finally confronts them, he is offered a mission, and a chance at redemption to right a wrong of his past. On the other side of the mission is the conspiracy theories of all conspiracy theories…and like it or not, Rhome is the only man for the job. However, the only question is, can he find it in him to forgive himself and be able to enter this world again?

The world of Americas ultra elite paramilitary is not a kind world. It demands everything the individual has. In Wolf Trap, Brian Rhome toed that line and gave everything he had, only to have his world ripped apart. When that same world comes knocking, can Rhome find it in him to answer the call again?

Wolfe Trap is such a beautifully crafted novel with some insane twists and turns to keep you guessing till the end. If you are looking for a novel with a crazy conspiracy theory to keep you up at nigh, Connor Sullivan’s Wolf Trap will fit that bill!

One last time, he enters the fray and the wilderness of mirrors to exact vengeance.

Connor Sullivan is fast becoming one of my favorite espionage authors, with this amazing follow up to to the Sleeping Bear. I loved the plot and the breakneck pace of this novel, and would highly recommend it to all CIA story lovers.

I fell in love with the talents of Connor Sullivan when I read Sleeping Bear, and this new novel only proves that he's a rising star.

Wolf Trap is the story of Brian Rhome, a former Ground Branch paramilitary officer, who suddenly finds himself on a desperate race against time around the globe as he confronts the traumas of his past and unravels a deadly conspiracy that threatens the highest levels of American democracy.

Shocking and propulsive, Wolf Trap will take readers on a nonstop thrill ride through the shadowy world of secrets and lies, and the men and women who put their lives on the line every day. #WolfTrap #NetGalley #SaltMarshAuthors

In a word, WOW. Wolf Trap is a non-stop page turner, that takes you on a whirlwind. Sullivan takes you into the head of Brian Rhome and his quest for vengeance and his sense of duty.

The plot twists and character turns keep you reading as you try to determine who is on what side. Rhome reminds you a bit of James Reece and this certainly could be the start of a solid series.

If you enjoyed his debut Sleeping Bear, you will enjoy this one. Wolf Trap seems to setup a new series with Brian Rhome as an ex-CIA operative. Just absolutely incredible. One heck of a page-turner, with some good twists and turns. Not going to give any of the plot away, but you will want to read this one!

A former member of an elite clandestine CIA group is called back into action in Wolf Trap, a political thriller from the author of Sleeping Bear. Brian Rhome is the ex-CIA operative who reluctantly returns to the front lines to not only avenge the deaths of his former troops in an ambush years ago, but also to help thwart an impending terrorist attack against the US. It takes a while for our action hero to get into the action, as the complicated story is slowly revealed. The large amount of characters, plus code names, double agents and lots of misdirection as well as a multi-layered plot can be confusing (and frustrating) in the early stages of the book. But the full-throttle action in the last third of the story saves the book as things finally come into focus. I received an arc of this book from the publisher through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Damn. D.A.M.N. d-a-m-n. Damn. Connor Sullivan doesn't believe in sophomore slumps, apparently. Wolf Trap is tremendous and he lets everyone know he is going to be a force to be reckoned with in the coming years. President Angela Buchanan is on the cusp of seeing her life's work come to fruition. Her Green Accord is a radical, aggressive global commitment to becoming carbon-neutral quickly and eliminating fossil fuels. She has garnered support from countries around the world, including some unlikely allies. Allies with different goals in mind. What was once a global celebration, the president's Green Accord quickly morphs into a global conspiracy with the highest echelons of the American government in its sights.

Wolf Trap is a stunning feat of writing. It is all gas; no breaks. As good as Sleeping Bear is, Wolf Trap is better. It isn't just that Wolf Trap is better; it is written in a completely different style. Sleeping Bear is kind of a mix of C.J. Box and Jack Carr whereas Wolf Trap has elements of Daniel Silva and Brad Thor. It's ridiculous Sullivan could even pull this off with such panache. My jealousy at Sullivan's skill is probably unhealthy.

Like Sleeping Bear, Wolf Trap is a standalone but I would read a continuation of these characters all day long. The plot, characters, everything is developed methodically and with care. The reader is almost immediately emotionally invested in the characters with an ease that shouldn't be possible. Jealousy reigns.

Everyone, and I mean everyone, should put Wolf Trap at the top of your reading list. I have no doubt it will be one of the best books of 2023!

My sincere thanks to Connor Sullivan, Atria/Emily Bestler Books, and NetGalley for the privilege of reading an advanced copy of Wolf Trap!

As President Buchanan is about get her landmark Green initiative signed into law with the support of most of the international community, everything seems to be perfect. As the process moves along, not all is as it seems. Sabotage and deception is abound and a conspiracy to start World War 3 is underway. Sullivan writes a great story that keeps the pages turning and makes me wish for his next book. Luckily there are enough people around that don't follow conventional ways of doing things which works to everyone's benefit. A must read.

A lot of authors are foretold to be the next big thing in their respective genres. Connor Sullivan was certainly a candidate for that praise when he released his debut thriller, Sleeping Bear. It had it all, action, intrigue, spies, tragedy and a tense plot that conjured up the wickedness and cruelty of post-Soviet Russia. As well as the skill to weave it all together into an experience.

With Wolf Trap, Sullivan ups the ante in scope and skill. Where Sleeping Bear felt like it unraveled into the final act, his latest has eyes toward throwing his protagonist, Brian Rhome, out to the edge of the plot elements, and using his past connections to cinch all the pieces together in an excellent final act set piece. It's explosive under the tension of high stakes, but sidesteps the usual grandstanding for something more shocking and satisfying.

Wolf Trap may be the book that solidifies Sullivan as the next big thing for folks who haven't given his novels a chance yet, as it certainly demands your attention if your a fan of the political thriller. But for me, he already was and Wolf Trap is just his way of staking his claim in a genre he's going to be pushing for years to come.

Wolf Trap worked for me. I was unable to put it down. That's a cliche, I know, but still true. Author Connor Sullivan imagines a world in which members of the US government align themselves with a cruel and dangerous Saudi prince to kill the US president. The plot is tight and consistent. I can only imagine the work the author must have put into it to make sure it was consistent and exciting. I loved the good characters, and appreciate how well drawn the bad guys are.
Thanks NetGalley and the publisher for this exciting ARC.

Wolf Trap is f**king spectacular! It’s wonderfully written with pacing that ratchets up the intensity and anxiety to near unbearable levels until it quite literally explodes with violence and the big reveal. Barry Award winner Connor Sullivan has struck gold again, delivering an incredibly brilliant thriller that will make your jaw drop while muttering “holy sh*t” over and over.

President Angela Buchanan is on the precipice of realizing a lifelong dream with the monumental Global Green Accord days away from being signed by leaders around the world, which would pledge to reduce dependency on fossil fuels and world powers become carbon neutral in short order. With unlikely allies by her side, everything she believes in and has sacrificed for is within reach…until the world’s newest clean-energy reactors melt down in a cataclysmic event broadcast live for all to see. With sabotage the likely culprit and a wide-sweeping conspiracy threatening to kick start World War III, it’s up to a secret faction of leaders, analysts and operators to identify the culprits and put a stop to the diabolical scheme before it’s too late.

Filled with intricate deceptions, secretive plots and conniving cabalists, this book has all the makings of a conspiracy theorists’ wet dream. On the flip side, it contains men and women who buck the bureaucracy and won’t rest until they thwart the evildoers' plans. It’s powerful conspiratorial efforts vs. formidable clandestine operations going head-to-head, with nothing short of the established global world order and the fate of the planet at stake. Throw in a stirring redemption story for good measure and Wolf Trap cements itself as THE espionage thriller of 2022.

Connor Sullivan is only two thrillers into his young career, yet he is already loudly and definitively announcing his arrival on the scene as someone who threatens to be mentioned with the all-time greats. It’s early days, but if he continues to deliver books as brilliant as Sleeping Bear and Wolf Trap for the next decade, he’ll be poised to threaten the likes of Le Carré, Clancy, Silva and Flynn for a spot on the Mount Rushmore of espionage thriller authors.

I'm jumping up and down with pure excitement!
I have the opportunity to read and review Sullivan's debut novel Sleeping Bear.
And after finishing his newest novel I'm eager to open it up.
Thank You Atria/Emily Books.

Wolf Trap by Connor Sullivan is an action packed book.
The action is nonstop and intense
The storyline itself was quite a unique one and filled with action, mystery, suspensez crime and drama which kept me reading until late at night and had me on the edge of my seat.
A strong male lead who kept me engaged and wanting more I couldn't have loved Brian's story more than I did.
A story which kept me thoroughly entertained from start to finish
With shocking revelations, and pitch-perfect dialogue make this one a WINNER.
With multi-twists and a breakneck pace, WOLF TRAP is an utterly compelling thriller where nothing is as it appears to the satisfying conclusion.

Now I'm off to read Sleeping Bear!

Absolutely incredible. One heck of a page-turner, with some good twists and turns. Not going to give any of the plot away. If you joyed "Sleeping Bear" you will enjoy this one. One of my favorite reads this year.

Wolf Pack not only blurs the lines between subgenres, it devours them. As I quickly moved from chapter to chapter, the different characteristics from the various types of stories fought for dominance like a literary Cerberus, leaving me joyfully unable to confine this novel into a single category. This book continually morphs, shape shifting with the right type of story pushing its way to the front at the exact right time to ensure the maximum effect is felt by the reader.

While his book titles may include animals, Connor Sullivan is proving that he’s going to be a beast in this industry for years to come. Wolf Trap is a wonderfully complex and anxiety inducing story that will keep readers guessing until the very end.
