I originally read this because it was a ToB longlist and it's difficult to review because there is so much wrong with it, but it's also fascinating in a car accident kind of way. I couldn't look away, even though I mostly wanted to.. 2.5/5.

I wanted to like this but I simply couldn't finish it. I skimmed a lot of it and I really think the author is too clever for his own good.... or at least he wants his readers to think just that.
To me it was all a bit too flat and too pretentious... Sorry. I really wanted to like this.
