A tense historical mystery/drama grounded in very real events that split Paris and much of the country during the late 19th century. involving some of the biggest personas of the day. Well written and I think portrays the period and attitudes excellently.

It is a bit depressing but that is the nature of murder, political corruption, prejudice and coverups.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for an ARC in return for an honest opinion.

This suspenseful thriller has me thinking about it even after I’m done.
