This book is what I have been praying for as I found my life filled to the brim. Most of this abundance was good things but I knew I wasn’t spending my time on what mattered most. In her book, Time Saving Mom, Crystal gives us the tools to choose our priorities and how to make them our focus. These tools range from Google Calendar to Time Blocking to a Habit Tracker. She also gives us these resources in a printable format for those of us that still like paper and pen. After reading the book, I wasn’t sure where to start. BUT thumbing through the appendix, I found Crystal did not leave me hanging. She provide a 7 week plan to implement her ideas. I am so excited to get started and start focusing my time on what matters during this season of life!
Crystal shares the routines that has worked for her as a busy mom to 6 kids. She gives practical steps for implementing great habits so that we can give time to the things and people we value and enjoy the present moments and relationships. At the end of each chapter, she shared two truths and a prayer. Even if you are not a Christ-follower, the information about systems, habits, and routines are useful for everyone to use as a guide to find what works for your family. I look forward to implementing the 6x2 Priority System.
Crystal offers relatable and reliable advice about how to manage our time so that we can be effective in our duties and present with our family.
Her book is written in a way that it feels like coffee with a best friend!
This book is phenomenal. I have always struggled with time management and Crystal Paine has broken it down to something very manageable for any walk in life. I don't usually read these types of books. But Ms. Paine writes in a way that I truly felt like I could be talking to a best friend about her life, and my life, and how to organize my world 🤣. And how to pick myself up when it gets turned on its head again. If you only read one self help book, I highly encourage you to take the time to read this book .
I enjoy this quick and easy read by Crystal Paine. I especially enjoyed her chapters about lists and practical ideas on how to better manage my time.
If you’ve ever wondered how to combine brain dumping, prioritizing, goal setting , block scheduling, and time tracking, The Time Saving Mom does a great job to walking you through each of these things in a simple manner. Real world examples are used and the appendix has activities to walk you through setting these up in your life.
I really enjoyed reading The Time Saving Mom. I’m a wife, mom of a busy family with two teenagers, daughter to aging parents and a small business owner so it is always a challenge to juggle all the things. My desire is to embrace life and for life to just not pass me by or constantly be caught up in doing tasks. This book has given me hope and inspired me that I can manage all the things I want to do and also given me the desire and the courage to cut out things that really aren’t a priority to me. Paine offers tools to use to help you identify your priorities and to implement them in your life. This book has given me new energy as a mom who has been at this for a long time and had grown weary with the daily tasks and challenges. Paine’s guidance on setting morning and evening routines has helped me be more intentional with my time, prioritize what I really want during these times of day and brought more enjoyment into my life because I’m living my priorities and not just wishing that I could or would do it.
Crystal Paine has done it again with another simple to read and easy to implement book. The Time Saving Mom is a how to guide on managing one’s time and actually feeling satisfied with the tasks you complete within the same 24 hours everyone has. Whether you are looking to manage your time better, starting from scratch or feel like you have some time management skills figured out, this book with stretch you to assess whether or you are caught up completing tasks to check off on your to-do list or embracing life knowing your priorities and working towards them. Through reflection questions, real life examples, and numerous strategies one can implement as action steps, Crystal also addresses how to deal when unexpected things come up, as they always do. The most encouraging part of The Time Saving Mom, is how evident it is that Crystal is not some superhuman woman, but a busy, often-exhausted mom just like many of us. Together we all desire to walk out God’s calling & purpose in our lives, using the time given us well.
I am not a Mother, but found this book to be helpful for general tips as well as a resource to share with clients I work with. I like how she talks about balance!!
As a work-at-home mom, I’m always trying to find better ways to manage my time and energy. So when I heard about this book, I was all for it. Having read several books on time management, what stood out for The Time-Saving Mom for me were: 1) That the author’s relational style of writing connected more than a handbook of information; 2) That she addressed challenges particular to moms (Though I think anyone can apply her strategies!); and 3) That her strategies are so that we can have more margin in our lives for rest and joy, rather than to cram more in.
I really appreciate the priority on praying and submitting to God first, even in managing time. Her tips are very doable and adaptable, as I’ve started implementing some. The “Two Truths” summary points at the end of each chapter are very helpful. There is admittedly no copy-paste solution; we still have to do the work. But her plan of action somehow makes it much less daunting.
I already see myself going back to the book again and again for refreshers. Thank you so much for writing this book!
Absolutely a perfectly timed book! I needed this encouragement about how my time can be used more wisely and intentionally!
I’ve enjoyed Crystal’s previous books and this one was no different. I appreciate the transparency and honest, real life. She shares from a Christian perspective, which I love, and helped me to see that small changes can make a big impact on my day and my attitude.
I definitely recommend this book to anyone feeling like there aren’t enough hours in the day!
This book is full of easy and practical advice to helps navigate through our busy lives
I highly recommend you reading it
So thankful for her writing
I have enjoyed her writing before and this one did not disappoint
Thanks for the advanced copy.
This is a great book! The time management tips and practices are practical and can easily be adjusted to meet my current stage of parenting/working. Crystal gives a lot of examples of what she does and how to adjust things as life happens. I was skeptical at first (because I've tried more than one thing that hasn't worked for me or my family), but this made total sense to me and I'm ready to try it for myself.
First off, what I love most about Crystal’s books (and online presence) is that she speaks to you like a good friend and one that can speak directly to the heart. It’s overall a very easy read with lots of great advice!
“It’s not about hustling harder or being a productivity queen; it’s about wrapping your time and energy and life around those things that really make a difference.”
Great gift of encouragement to a friend overwhelmed with motherhood, family, jobs, and everything else the world feels it should put upon women.
The Time Saving Mom is an exceptional book. The advice is practical and includes action steps that can be utilized by readers in various circumstances. The author writes in a way that is very down to earth and relatable. She speaks as someone who understands what it is like to be in the trenches. I thoroughly enjoyed this book and have already started implementing several of the strategies. I truly believe this book will have a profound impact on my life as well as the lives of my loved ones.
The Time-Saving Mom by Crystal Paine is a gem of a book! In simple prose, the author explains how to best utilize both paper and technology (namely, Google calendar) to take advantage of organizing one's time. Paine concentrates on prioritizing those areas of life that are most important to each individual reader depending on where that reader is in time and space in her life, meaning that Paine recognizes that mothers might be in different seasons of life at any given time. The best thing about Payne's book and her time-based recommendations is that they work regardless of the season of life in which one currently finds herself. One of my favorite parts of Payne's book was when she explained her 6 x 2 system, in which she prioritized 6 main/major areas of her life, two times per week, for some semblance of balance, such that her 6 most important areas of her life were given attention twice each week. Genius! Payne's personal stories are relevant and heartfelt, adding warmth and depth to the book, as are the short prayers at the end of each chapter. I highly recommend this book for any mother struggling with the juggle of time.
Reading Crystal's book is like sitting at the table with her, sharing coffee, and asking her 'how do I get my life in order?'. Her tips are broken down into easy-to-follow language and her personal testimonials give hope- especially in the chaotic world we live in. Excellent read for anyone needing time management skills and gaining order in their life again.
I was on the launch team for The Time-Saving Mom. The book releases March 7. I've enjoyed Crystal Paine's books before and follow her on social media. I enjoy her insights in daily living. This book delves into her system for managing your time like you can manage money. She shares her philosophy, but then spends most of the book sharing her systems. Unfortunately, these systems may not work for a lot of people. I think the book could have been improved by showing some different ways to implement her philosophies and not just her systems. It's a good book to start with to get used to the idea of managing time well, but understand you'll have to find a system that works for you, your personality, your life and your family.
I had to preorder The Time-Saving Mom when one of my favorite blogger personalities (The Money Saving Mom) was starting her launch. Then I joined the launch team because as a blogger, well that's what I do.
I read it in about a weekend and a few extra evenings. I love that it was written in an easy to digest and enjoy kind of way. Crystal Paine writes like a real human wants to read, a real busy mom human, a kind of human who has no time to skim past fluff and repetition. The book contains lots of visually easy to enjoy bullets, breakout sections, etc., on top of the paragraphs explaining her methods.
Crystal Paine is a busy busy mom, she runs a business and has a big family. She has a lot on her plate, and teaches us how she manages her time and energy so well. My favorite was her Priorities section where she shows us her 6x2 system. It's brilliant! The way she organizes her priorities so everything gets focused on a selected day is brilliant, and not allll the time alll at once, which is impossible!
I also love that we use Google Calendar the same way. I put all my reminders in Gcal too, everything from going grocery shopping to a reminder to make a phone call. I even sometimes put work related items in my personal Google Calendar if they overlap into needing preparation in advance, an early meeting, etc. I love her tips to brain dump everything into an all-day event on your Google Calendar and just move it around to whatever next available day you can get that done.
The only criticism I would have is the book shares her systems that work for her lifestyle, which is a SAHM, WAHM with her own business. A lot of the flexibility and being able to decide what to say no to isn't as attainable for moms with careers outside the home. We are not just answering to ourselves and our family, but we have a boss and external deadlines that maybe don't align with our personal goals. So finding time in the margins for our personal priorities becomes that much more challenging. While the author doesn't have that lifestyle, a bit more advice or application to that lifestyle would have made this book even more relatable for more moms.
I also skimmed over the Prayer section, because that is not my cuppa as I do not do religion. However, I do believe in mindfulness and gratitude practice, and the tips she shares in that section can easily be transitioned into starting your day with mindfulness and positive energy. The main lesson there is not to internalize the hardships and negativity but focus on peace and asking either a higher power, the universe, or even yourself, to give you abundance of time and energy to focus on your priorities.
As with all things taught in these self-help books, they will not do you any good unless you actually sit down and apply them. One step at a time, one habit at a time, or you will be too overwhelmed and might quit. This book includes an appendix with trackers and worksheets to help implement her time management teachings.
Are you having trouble managing daily life and leaving room for the important things in life like faith and family? Here's you resource. Crystal, gives a simple, but very easy to accomplish steps to do just that, without costing any money. From setting those priorities. to incorporating them into your schedule, to managing that schedule so that it works and gets done, it is all in this book.
Best Read of 2023 for moms like me who are struggling with New Year's fitness resolutions. A healthy mama means a happy family.
Crystal gives you a vision to manage time wisely through her simple tools and systems to keep trekking. I'm confident I will not fall off the bandwagon to accomplish my health goals.
