What a precious story! This is a beautifully written story that is beautifully illustrated. My great granddaughter loved it.
I received a complimentary copy from NorthSouth Books Inc via NetGalley and was not required to write a review. All opinions expressed are my own.
What a precious little story. I'm always looking for biblical stories for my 3 year old and this is perfect. He loved reading about the sweet donkey and we talked about the lessons featured in the story, such as not being unkind to others. I highly recommend this one.
Thank you to NetGalley for a free copy.
I loved the illustrations and the writing. Up until the end, I quite liked the story. It may appeal more to religious people I think, especially around Christmas.
I loved the donkey's journey and faith. It can be a good gift for Christmas for devout people. It is a beautiful book.
This was a sweet story told from the donkey’s perspective on his journey to Bethlehem to meet the King. All the animals he meets along the way dismiss him and the idea that the new King would want to meet a donkey. After he follows the star and comes upon baby Jesus, he is welcome by the new King. I absolutely loved the illustrations in this book!!.
Lovely illustrations in this story book. I would have liked more connection with the donkey. The story felt as if it was being told to be, I would have rather experienced it with the donkey.
A short and sweet Christmas story focusing on the journey to Bethlehem taken by the donkey. Bottom line, never underestimate a donkey.
I thought that this was a really enjoyable book and a lovely delightful read
The story was easy to follow and it was fun to read with my daughter
She thought it was a really nice story and having done her first nativity last year (she was the innkeeper) she loved being able to help read the story about the Little Donkey and his journey – she is now 5 and has recently learnt to read and she was able to join in and that made it even more enjoyable for us
The illustrations are lovely and they really bring the story to life – I can’t wait to be able to read it again nearer to Christmas Day
It is five stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!
Thank you, NorthSouth Books Inc, for the advance reading copy.
I love the way how precise the story has been written. The presentation is well done. However, I would have liked the book more if better words are used for a few words considering the reading age group.
The illustration is really good.
I absolutely loved this book, it was just so beautiful, both in illustration and in prose.
The story is one most will be familiar with, the journey to see Christ the newborn king, only this version is told from a donkey’s perspective.
It is short and sweet, perfect for reading to young ones without losing their attention. As well as the story of faith and perseverance, this retelling also addresses bullying, doubt, and fear, as the donkey is ridiculed for wanting to travel to see the newborn king, being such a lowly creature that he is perceived to be.
The donkey shows that by believing in yourself and your goals, you can achieve anything. Best of all, once he does reach the newborn king, he is welcomed with joy and reverence and is welcomed to sit near the king, who as we know, loves all things equally.
A wonderful story for Christians and non-Christians alike.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in return for my honest review.
I don't usually read children's books, but I remember reading a similar story like this one back in my childhood days. I absolutely adored the images, and the words were fluid with with pictures. I honestly love the nostalgia this book brought back, and it gave me hope. Especially with the trials the donkey faced, it gave hope, and faith. Bless this book1
This book is a perfect read for Christmas time. It's very entertaining and the illustrations are beautiful. I features a donkey's adventure to Bethlehem to see baby Jesus.
The Little Donkey teaches kids that no matter how little they are, no matter how they are being teased by others and bullied by others, he/she should believ the Jesus will always welcome him/her.
*thank you netgalley for gifting me this arc in exchange for an honest review :) *
beautiful. this book is beautiful
this books tells the story of perseverance, faith and ambition.
this book is short and sweet but throughout the pages it holds an important message. this book even addresses themes that happen in the real world—bullying, doubt and fear, and the way to combat those things is to believe in yourself and remind yourself of your goals.
this would be a great gift for any christian of any age honestly.
i personally genuinely felt sadness when i saw the poor donkey being picked on but the ending made it worth it :)
this book tugs at the heart.
5/5 stars
The Little Donkey hears that a King was born in Bethlehem and wants to go see him. Forbidden by his human master, he sets out anyway. On the journey, many different animals belittle him, laugh at him, and make him feel discouraged and worthless. He loses his way, but he presses on until he finds the baby King, Jesus, in a manger in a stable in Bethlehem. And he learns that even a lowly, unimportant donkey like him is welcome in the King’s presence.
This is a wonderful, simply-told short story that both children and their adults will want to read together again and again. The lessons of seeking after Jesus and not letting anything or anyone hinder us will be long remembered. The story is made even better by beautiful illustrations. The Little Donkey would make a perfect Christmas gift for a little one in your life.

This was a really cute, and easy to read book about a donkey that wanted to meet baby Jesus, that encountered lots of animals that were mean to him, but he carried on regardless.
The illustrations were really cute and eye-catching too!
Lovely read.
This is the story of a donkey that wants to meet baby Jesus. And how he met all kind of animals, telling him that he wasn't a big or a scary animal. But this donkey didn't give up. It was very allegoric and cute little story about how to not give up even when we want to.
The beautiful illustrations in this lovely book will immediately draw a reader in to its pages. The story is about a little donkey traveling to Bethlehem to visit the new king and about the trials he goes through along the way. The donkey passes several animals who talk down to him and call him names, saying he is not important enough to go to Bethlehem. The donkey begins to despair and feel lost, and then angels appear to guide him on his way. The pictures are truly beautiful and the story is told in a simple way that children can easily understand. This book is one that could become a classic story to be read for years to come. I will be sharing this one with my kids this holiday season.
Another one that’s beautiful illustrations will have your heart captivated before you even begin to read this lovely story. A perfect for children tale of the Christmas story, this one features a little donkey who sets out on the long journey to Bethlehem. On the way, he is laughed at and treated poorly by the other animals, and begins to feel embarrassed and lose heart. That is, until a great and brilliant light guides him to his destination. In the end, the little donkey is rewarded for his courage and faith, and learns that his new King loves all creatures, including little donkeys. Absolute adorable and the sweetest Christmas message in a way that all little ones can get on board with and understand.
