The American King by Sierra Simone is the final book in The American Queen trilogy.

First, there are parts of this series that I absolutely loved, the stong voice of each character when it's their point of view is well done. Greer definitely redeemed herself in this book. And then there's the fantasy element, I'm aware this was a modern retelling of Camelot, but I was almost going to stop reading after the big secret is revealed. I'm glad I continued, but I truly feel we could have had a compelling story without the little walk down fantasy land.

We pick up from the end of the last book. There is so much sadness, and we are once again seeing the past and the current event unfold. The decisions made by Embry to protect Ash and Greer are both heartbreaking and understandable at the same time. So much more should have happened to Abilene. That's all I'll say about her. Ultimately, with Embry and Ash at odds, you feel their bond even more in this book. The strength of the three of them and the obstacles they have to overcome are what binds you to want them to have the perfect fairy tale ending. And wow, you have to really slog through some dark times and magic to get there.

The final book in the New Camelot series and it wasn’t for me. I had a hard time getting into the story. Sierra Simone writes beautifully and I’ve enjoyed her other books.

After reading the other two spicy installments of the series, I wasn't at all surprised by the super spicy scenes in this final installment. But, that being said, there are plenty of other twists and turns to surprise the reader in this book. After reading from Greer and Embry's perspectives, we now to get see the inner thoughts and perspective of Ash. I truly wasn't expecting some of the convoluted backstory, and I don't know that I needed it. Overall, I enjoyed this last book in the series, but it wasn't my favorite of the three.

First things first: Sierra Simone writes smut like no one else that I have read. It’s pages upon pages of intense detail and quite frankly I love it. The book never shied away from anything sexual in nature and when you are in the mood for smut this is definitely the author I would send someone too, because it’s always top notch.

That being said: I know this is a retelling of a famous story but there were aspects of this that just seemed a little too “soap opera” for me personally. I wasn’t expecting to have to suspend my disbelief so much with this contemporary romance (the over the top issues with Greers cousin for one).

This series really wanted to be tied up nicely (pun intended). However, I didn’t care for how some of the issues were handled. Everything was done too neatly for my tastes. All of the issues just managed to resolve themselves in this book with little influence from the main characters, which felt disingenuous too them since they have such strong personalities and the abilities to take care of themselves and each other.

Of course watching them evolve and develop has been fun over the last few books. This is certainly one of the more original stories I have read in a while and it’s already one I have recommended to all my fellow girlies who enjoy a sexy throuple. This is definitely a fun read.

The thrilling and.. dare I say very surprising ending to a trilogy that I could not put down. Seriously. I had a writing deadline, and the second I picked up American Queen I knew that I was in major trouble.

American King wraps up the heartbreaking love story between three people who just want to love each other. The world be damned. The lies and betrayals from American Prince is only the beginning. American King brings a whole new plot twist that will leave you reeling until the very last freaking page.

I have been waiting to dive into book three in the New Camelot trilogy, as I was left speechless at what was already introduced in previous books. First, we got to know the story from Greer's perspective, then from Embry's, and now the time has come for the king! Are you curious about what Ash is about to bring here?
This book was the most complicated one in the trilogy as Ash is the most complicated and layered character here. Nothing will be easy there - so read cautiously (not only due to content) to not lose anything that Ms. Simone put in this book. As last book brought us to a new course of this threesome and how each character would deal with it differently and that it can drift beloved ones apart or bring them together even closer - what will happen here is something that you will have to find out while reading about our King in American king.
This book is a retelling of Arthurian legend and I think this trope was well used I have high hopes for the next stories in this world! Ending will have its fans and anti-fans, I go for the first group as this is something completely different than I ever read before.

American King is the conclusion of the New Camelot trilogy and while I found myself once again suspending belief for quite a few points in the story, I still really enjoyed it. Ash tells his point of view in this story, and I listened to the audiobook which was narrated by the same person that narrated Embry’s story in American Prince, so it threw me a little bit at the beginning just with how my brain associated the characters. Once I got past that, I was thrown back in to the story and found I was emotional and hot, just as I was with the first two books. The time jumps were a little bit more to keep track of in this book compared to the last two. Part of the plot (no spoilers, I promise) were a bit over the top and I found myself saying “no effing way would that happen” . (I promise I do understand it is a fictional story, but still!).
Overall I highly recommend this trilogy to anyone looking for a spicy tv show Scandal-esque story.
Thank you to Netgalley and Bloom books for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.

The final book in the New Camelot Trilogy felt the most emotional and powerful. Greer, Embry, and Ash have been through so much individually and together. They are constantly dealing with new obstacles to keep them apart and never getting what they truly want.

I liked how the storyline played out in this final book and all the plot twists I didn’t expect. I enjoyed that their was less flashbacks in this story and more focus on the present. As I said, it was more emotional in my opinion than the previous books because of the major events that occurred. Not only that, but you really get to learn every single character’s emotions in this third book. Getting an insight into the sacrifices each person would make for the others and how strongly they feel for each other is overwhelming.

The ending of this book and of course the overall trilogy is unique and unexpected. I won’t do any spoilers, but I was hooked as soon as the ending events started. I couldn’t wait to see how things played out and if each/any character would get what they wanted. Sierra’s writing captures your attention constantly and she writes unique, lovable characters- even if they’re initially rough around the edges.

Our steamy trilogy comes to an end. While Greer is a more minor character in this one, I still enjoyed it immensely. I am happy with where our characters ended up. As with the rest of the series and all of Sierra's books this book was very steamy.

Fabulous conclusion to this daring trilogy - loved every word!

This is the third book in the New Camelot series and the books are meant to be read in order. After finishing this book I could have still read on about the incredible relationship between Ash, Embry, and Greer. This series is a tangled web of complex and multi dimensional characters and the plot keeps you on your toes!

To summarize this series I think this quote from the story does well "…once upon a time, there were two warriors who loved the same woman as much as they loved each other. And everything that happened afterwards led inevitably to tragedy.”

5 Stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | 5 Flames 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥

I don’t know how she does it, but Sierra Simone works her magic EVERY TIME. What other author can have me worked up over the most explicit, taboo scenes one moment, and then crying for how heartbreakingly beautiful the relationships are the next? This book worked me over. There are so many twists and turns and I was afraid the HEA would never come, and just when I got comfortable with the storyline, woosh! a new twist.

Of the three books in the New Camelot series, this is my favorite. It truly is Maxen’s story and every single thread woven from the first two books comes together so perfectly in this one. At the heart of it, Maxen just wants to be loved by Embry. His character becomes more sympathetic in American King, where even though he is still the peak dom, we now see behind the curtain and see more of his emotions and thoughts. And what an emotional rollercoaster this was. I gasped, cursed, fanned myself, sighed, and sobbed. There are some pretty far fetched plot points that might lose a reader or two, but I feel like I saw hints of them early on in the series, and what can I say, NOTHING surprises me in Sierra Simone’s work anymore.

I can say beyond a shadow of a doubt that this book and series will live in my head forever and I’m sad to see it come to an end. I would recommend it to anyone that’s not afraid of kink or a taboo threesome, enjoys reading smut, likes it when their characters are raw and real and is not afraid of a little far-fetched magic in their love stories. I chose to read and review this book after receiving it as an advanced copy. Thank you to NetGalkey and Bloom books. All opinions are my own.

please note that the topes/themes may contain spoilers
3.5 ⭐ rounded up to 4
MCs: Ash, Embry, Greer
POV: 1st person, dual POV
HEA: yes- but damn we fought for it
spice: lots of spicy scenes (FM, MM, MMF)
TWs: suicide, detailed BDSM scenes, death of parents (recounted), mental manipulation, incest, dubious consent, age gap (10 years), war themes, sexual harassment, kidnapping
standalone: book 3 of New Camelot series (final of trilogy)- should be read in order
final thoughts: we already know the sex scenes are hotttt but daaaang we really get put through an emotional rollercoaster in this book and zooweemama I need to take a 12 hour nap after finishing this. The writing is well done, the sex scenes are phenomenal and not as all boring or repetitive but I think 3 books was kinda pushing it (is that rude?) I love love love love that we get all 3 MC’s POVs throughout the series but I was starting to get bored with all the flashbacks and rereading the same scenes over and over

I don't want this series to be over! I had so much fun with the Camelot trilogy. These titles have been on my TBR for a while and I am so glad I was able to read and enjoy. Sierra Simone continues to be a must read author for me. Her titles are fun and sexy and I adore her characters and the world she's created. Highly recommend this trilogy!

American King by Sierra Simone is the third book in the American Queen series. Again, this continues the story of Greer, Embry, and Ash. This book perfectly ties up the whole story and I absolutely love it. I could still use more of these characters but it was a great ending. I highly recommend this series and would definitely recommend starting with the first book of the series before reading the others. I look forward to more from this amazing author!

American King by Sierra Simone is the Third book in the New Camelot Trilogy. This continues the story of Greer Galloway, Ash Colchester and Embry Moore. So, you will need to read the two previous books: 'American Queen' and 'American Prince' before starting this one. This book ties up their story. This has been a great Trilogy and I do recommend it along with Ms. Simone's writing.
