The perfect end to this series. I didn't want to say good bye. I cried, it was just everything. Embry is obviously my favorite. He was the glue that held them together. I just can't recommend this series enough!
when it comes to sierra simone, there is never a moment of peace, and she’s definitely proved that with this book
the entire time i was just trying to figure out how everything would come together and nothing could’ve prepared me for the journey we were gonna take to get there💀
AND THAT ENDING OMG???? my jaw was in the floor for the last two chapters because i was in disbelief
Where to start with this book?
Although American King gives the initial impression this is Ash's story it's a mash up of the three perspectives from Ash, Emery and Greer from the present forward, with Ash's perspective also taking us through past events. His past perspectives were snapshots of those key moments already depicted in books 1 and 2, and thus made things a little repetitive. I don't think they contributed as much insight into Ash I was hoping, though across the totality of the book I came to understand him more.
Looking back on this book I think it's more well rounded, though I noticed diverse reviews on other sites with people loving all the books, people loving the first two and not this one, and people not loving the first two but appreciating this last one. I think I fall into the last group, as this book brings it all together albeit not in the way I had initially wanted. The author explains her choice of outcomes beautifully in the Afterword but I won't suggest people read it first otherwise it will give everything away.
If I can divide this book (and the previous two) into two S's - the sex and the story. This book, even more than the others contains alot of sex, in between Ash and Embry running America and the free world and Greer doing First Lady things. There might be arguments the sex overshadows the story (the thought I was teetering on the edge of), or a counter-argument is that it's representative of the dynamic between Ash, Greer, and Embry.
Ash remains a challenging character for me to the point of loathing him. I still see him as nasty, overbearing, and tyrannical. I still think the MM storyline superceded the other dynamics, and was happy enough for that to be the case, but the book takes a (very late) turn where another relationship is able to be consolidated. Again, not sure how I feel about it.
Back to Ash -I argue he's egotistical and definitely not humble as I've seen suggested, but at least with age he becomes a little reflective (if not stating the obvious).
Greer is away, Embry is gone, and I have a son. Whom I've never met. Whose mother is my sister. Fuck. (LOL)
.....
No one who loves me gets a happy ending, have you noticed? Just being close to me infects their lives with tragedy.
......
and perhaps the most telling statement of them all in Chapter 7 - I am a man who loves. A man whose love demands much in return. And I will survive this.
So back to the story. I enjoyed that this was an Arthurian tale more than I enjoyed the sex. It's what kept me engaged. Props for the depiction of Abilene as the villain threatening to bring New Camelot down. She was the ultimate depiction of love as pain. I loved the tragedy, the angst, and the sadness. In no way did I want to see Ash as a martyr but I'm not sure I totally agree with the way it ended either.
Within the story I couldn't get on board with the paranormal twist - it was enough for me that the characters were namesakes, and the story loosely based. It was definitely enough, and in no way did I expect the romance to plaster over the betrayal and infidelity like a band-aid, with some children and a kitten sprinkled in for good measure.
This trilogy has at times been thrilling, eye-opening, and jaw-dropping. I admit to wanting to finish with dogged determination but at times I needed to put it down due to the level of angst, pain and dysfunction. It's a trilogy that begs discussion and dissection and would recommend it on that basis alone.
AMAZING finale to the New Camelot series. The first two books must be read first to really understand everything that's going on in the story. I couldn't put it down from beginning to end - it had me on the edge of my seat; it had me in tears. I loved the King Arthur's Court tie-in, adding a little bit of fantasy/paranormal to a series that is otherwise mainly an erotic political thriller.
The cover made the book seem contemporary. I was super confused when our protagonist pulls a sword from a stone. Oops! It's a reprint so I should have paid more attention, I suppose. I stopped at the first chapter.
Thanks to NetGalley and Blook Books for the ARC.
3.5 stars. I overall really liked the series but I would say that the 3rd was my least favourite. The book took a weird turn for me, and I also got a little bored with the flashback scenes by book 3 since we knew a lot of the history through reading Greer/Embry’s POVs in 1 & 2. I will say there were parts of the story I really connected with and I loved the characters. I did feel like Embry and Ash had a stronger bond, and at times I felt bad for Greer, however, they are all meant to be together. I’m glad I finally read the series, and I would definitely recommend to those looking for a spicy MMF read with lots of twists and drama.
4.5 stars
I read American Queen and American Prince over a year ago and really enjoyed them. The content took me by surprise (in a good way!) as I had not read a MMF romance before. I don't know why I waited so long to read the finale so thank you NetGalley!
This one is hard to give much background on unless you've read the previous two books in the series. It's told both in the present and past tense. We get Ash's perspective during key timelines in the past and it really gave insight into his character and decision making. In the present, its Embry vs. Ash for the presidential run. Muddled by blackmail, betrayal, love, power and duty, it was a wild ride to the very end!
Incredible storyline, extreme spice, and impeccable character development. Out of the three main characters, Ash's perspective was the most engaging for me. The story drifts into a fantastical element near the end that nicely ties everything together. Maybe not for everyone, but it worked for me as the New Camelot idea was woven across the trilogy. The tie to Arthurian legend and Merlin's role throughout the story made character choices fit (despite my frustration at them!) as I connected them to the myth of Arthur, Lancelot, and Guinevere. And finally, the ending had my heart so happy - thank you Sierra for making my tears worth it!
This is by far one of my favorite book series I have read. I absolutely loved the conclusion to this trilogy. The whole series is perfection!!! This book focuses mainly on Maxen or Ash who is the current United States President. It goes into his past and growing up. His first sexual relationship with Morgan. It also goes into detail of his first encounter with Greer and Embry falling in love at first sight. This book like the first and second brings all the spice and drama. I love how the series eventually ended. The characters were so well written. You will feel all the feels as Sierra goes through their past, present and future relationship. Many thanks to SOURCEBOOKS Bloom Books and NetGalley for the digital review copy of this novel. All opinions expressed in this review are my own.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
WOW WOW WOW!!
This book is book #3 in the Camelot series. I recommend reading American Queen & American Prince first. They’re great books and you will definitely have a better understanding of what is going on.
I loved having Ash’s pov in this book. You can feel his love, hurt, passion, and pain. The three MC’s were written so well and complex. This book had me on edge and shocked me several times. Lots of emotions while reading this! This was the perfect ending to an amazing trilogy.
Sierra Simone knows how to write unforgettable books, and this is just another one to add to that list!
This book was hot, emotional, and great! A must read!

American King by Sierra Simone was seriously the most epic conclusion to this trilogy! It blew me away!
This book gave me all the feels. I loved reading this entire series.
My emotions were all over the place.
American King is a splendid, exciting, erotic, passionate romance.
It’s such a unique story and the writing is phenomenal.
The characters are complex, the story is so damn addictive.
This was writing at it’s best and I love Sierra Simone for her brilliant writing.

I was super excited to read these books. I've heard so many great things about them and I have enjoyed the author's other work.
Unfortunately, I had to DNF the series because one of the characters is 16 when adult interactions begin. There is nuance, but it was still to far for me personally.
Thank you Simone, St. Martin's Press, and Netgalley for my audio advanced review copy. My opinions are my own.

I think this is the best book in the trilogy by far. Ash really grew on me in this book, and though he isn’t my favorite character, we get to see a whole new side to him. I wish we got more “now” than “then” because I feel like we get so much of the past. It makes sense because there’s so much that has happened that lead to the events we read about, but it’s almost to the point of “ok I get it, move on”. Throughout the series, I kept forgetting that it’s supposed to be a play on the story of King Arthur. Towards the end of this book it really comes back into play and wraps up the story.
Really glad it has a happy ending! But I also knew because of who Ash is, there was no choice between him and Embry.
Would recommend, but still only recommend based on the reader’s taste.
This series was insane because on the one hand I read phrases I NEVER wanted to read, but what was Sierra Simone doing so right (or wrong tbh) for me to actually read all three books? I absolutely hated the whole "twist" behind the series' name, but again, clearly this wasn't the worst of all time if I got through it all.
American King by Sierra Simone is a stunning conclusion to the steamy and captivating polyamorous romance trilogy that began with American Queen. The book follows Maxen Ashley Colchester, the President of the United States, as he navigates the aftermath of losing his lover and vice president, Embry Moore. The story is told from Ash's point of view and offers a deep and honest portrayal of a man in power struggling with his flaws, secrets, and fatal mistakes.
The novel explores themes of love, power, sacrifice, and redemption, as Ash, along with his queen, Greer Galloway, must face their greatest challenge yet: running for re-election against their former lover and friend. The chemistry between the three main characters is electric and the love they share is beautifully depicted, making for a compelling and emotional read.
Sierra Simone's writing is as exceptional as ever, with evocative prose and complex characters that linger long after the last page. Her ability to weave together politics, romance, and magic into a cohesive and enthralling story is impressive. American King is a fitting and satisfying conclusion to this trilogy, and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a passionate and thought-provoking read.
**I would like to thank NetGalley, Bloom Books, and Sierra Simone for an ARC of this book! This is now available as of 2/1/23!**
"Man and man and wife."
"I knew when I met you that it would end in tragedy. And I still wouldn't have done a single thing differently. Not a single thing."
This book is where I truly fell in love with Ash and Embry's relationship. The bond they have for each other is so so deep and transcends anything simple or mediocre. I also loved the development of Embry and Greer's relationship. We saw more of that in American Prince, but in this book, they were able to really find their footing with each other separate from Ash.
"I want to find every place where we are different and every place where we are the same and compose hymns to them both."
There is a lot more influence of the Camelot re-telling in this book which unfortunately went over my head. I wish I had more background knowledge on it. If you are a fan of Camelot history, this may be a better fit for you. With all that said, I didn't like that Merlin was magical. I wish it had been left that he just somehow knew what was going to happen. The magical aspect made me want to skim and definitely took the story down a few notches. Felt unnecessary.
All in all, I enjoyed this series. I loved how Serra Simone used three books and three POVs to not just show the current timeline, but to also truly unravel their history with one another. Very well done. I also loved the epilogue. While it felt more like a bonus chapter than an epilogue, I felt like everything was perfectly tied with a bow.
I would like to start this review by begging you all to please read this serie.
Yes I actually said so.
Beautiful ending for the serie but I must say I'm still biased for the second one.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the chance of reading the e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
One of the most erotic and hooking series I’ve read. American King was the perfect finish to this amazing trilogy. I recommend it if you’re looking for MMF, thrilling romance filled with twists and turns. Sierra Simone knows what she’s doing and I keep loving everything she writes.
