The Lords of the Armory series has been consistently strong, and this newest installment is no different! Full of plenty of tension, intrigue, and tenderness, A Problem Princess is a solid romance read.
When Princess Cordelia of Monrovia finds herself in the path of multiple assassination attempts, Clayton Elliot steps in to be her personal bodyguard. He quickly becomes her confidant, friend, and then, something more. Basically, this is a bodyguard romance with a spy element, and the two pieces work well together, as do Clayton and Cordelia. The tension between their feelings and their commitments was a constant presence, making it easy to wonder how exactly they would manage to work things out. It made the ending all the sweeter when they overcame that doubt.
The series throughline of Specter also works well in this book, finally coming to a head and seemingly tying up a lot of loose ends. I'm assuming, based on the Avengers-like gathering of all the previous couples in the series, that this book is the concluding installment, and if so, it makes for a satisfying ending, sending everyone off, once and for all, to their happy endings and peaceful lives.
Again, this is a solid read, and even if it didn't entirely sparkle, it's still a fun story with plenty of happenings and a tender romance to keep the reader entertained.
4/5

A Problem Princess is an exciting and romantic conclusion to the Lords of the Armory series. I’ve read every book in this series, and each one is original, entertaining, and super swoon-worthy. This one follows General Clayton Elliott, a Home Office Undersecretary who suspects that an anarchist group is not disbanded, but just biding their time until the next attack. But when he saves Princess Cordelia of Monrovia from an attack, his plans change.
Clayton insists on becoming her bodyguard and ensuring her safety, as he is convinced her life is in jeopardy. Could it be Sceptre that’s trying to hurt Cordelia, or are there other reasons Cordelia is being targeted? And when they are forced to flee London, will they be able to fight their feelings for each other?
Throughout the series, the overarching plot has involved Sceptre, a powerful anarchist group trying to overthrow the monarchy. Though we learned more and more about the key players and major plans, the true leader and instigator wasn’t revealed until this book. There are a few unexpected twists and a satisfying conclusion as the Lords of the Armory all gather to defeat their long-standing enemies.
Clayton and Cordelia know from the start that they are not meant to be. As a princess, Cordelia’s life is not her own, and her uncle has made it abundantly clear he will choose her future husband. Clayton is not high enough in rank to even be an option. However, feelings and attraction don’t really care about rules or social class. Cordelia and Clayton fall deeply for each other, and they are both filled with angst over their predicament. They have amazing chemistry, and while on the run, they spend a lot of time together. They learn a lot about each other, including their tainted pasts and family secrets, which only strengthens their connection. I enjoyed the emotional depth of their relationship and how open they are with each other. I think they help each other face some hard truths in their lives, and they give each other the strength to face their burdens.
I thought this was a great conclusion to the series. It was fast-paced and suspenseful, many of my favorite characters from other books in the series had roles in this one, and the love story was super romantic! I also really enjoyed reading the Author’s Note at the end and learning about the true events, the historical climate of the time, and more.
Thanks so much to NetGalley, Sourcebooks Casablanca, and the author for providing me with a copy of the book. All thoughts are my own.

A Problem Princess. The two main characters in this story, Clayton and Cordelia are two people who worked hard at saying their feelings, were as it was something so easily said. The characters definitely identified with plot of the story. Their motivations of their individual goals often times got in the way of what they truly wanted. The story or plot was explained clearly with facts and realism. The plot is a good hook to pull in that reader.
Clayton and Cordelia sometimes had me scratching my head with them, but they are my favorite characters in the book. The pace of the story was pretty steady. The action scenes are few in between, but the action scenes worked well with the intensity of the story. The emotional moments between the characters was believable among the characters. It was the romance between Clayton and Cordelia that fanned the flames of desire.
I received a copy of this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.

A Problem Princess is book 6 in the Lords of the Armory series and I am sad that this series is now complete. With that said, I enjoyed this one and thought Harrington did a great job of wrapping everything up.
Harrington did a great job of building the relationship between Clayton and Cordelia. Both have their own histories and reasons for being at the palace but when Cordelia is attacked, Clayton is aligned as her bodyguard as he works to find out if there is a connection between whomever wants her dead and Spectre. The more time they spend together, they come to realize they can only trust each other if they are going to survive.
If you're looking for a great historical romance series and have not started this one, I recommend picking this one up. Not only is there a mystery behind Spectre that follows all the way through, but Harrington does a great job of building out each book's storyline while focusing on the main characters relationship. Not only with each other but the other lords of the armory too.

Daring and duty!
Oh my! Not quite the Pauper and the Princess but near enough to feel the heartbreak.
Clayton Elliot found that protecting Princess Cordelia of Monrovia was more than he’d bargained for. No spoilt petulant young woman aware of her own importance, but a sweetly innocent person who is being controlled by her uncle, Prince Ernest. Although Cordelia doesn’t see it. She sees her uncle concerned for her country and her well being. She sees her Duty. Cordelia is hiding a secret, a secret related to her family that’s breaking her heart.
Cordelia must marry and she’s been brought to England to be looked over by the three Royal Dukes, Clarence, Kent and Cambridge, as a potential bride. Duty above all else!
Someone tries to kidnap her and is thwarted by Clayton. The situation becomes more dangerous for Cordelia and Clayton’s determined to protect her, supported by his fellow armory denizens.
His group believes Scepter is still at work. One leading person might have been taken out, but there’s someone behind the group with tentacles everywhere, pulling on strings that will endanger Clayton, his brothers-in-arms, and Cordelia.
Last in the series, this proved to be a satisfyingly stirring and lively romance/ adventure where Scepter is dealt a final blow, though not without cost.
A Sourcebooks Casablanca ARC via NetGalley.
Many thanks to the author and publisher.

“The heart can’t always have what it wants.” Luckily for me, I read romance novels where it CAN have what it wants! Now, hand over your heart, Clayton.
Anna Harrington delivers an electrifying conclusion to one of my favorite series, Lords of the Armory. A Problem Princess is a total page-turner, brimming with intrigue, heart stopping action, steamy romance, and heartfelt emotions. Scepter is back and so are the dashing heroes from previous books!
General Clayton Elliott must protect Her Serene Highness Princess Cordelia of Monrovia. Someone is trying to harm the lovable princess. Is it Scepter or is there another evil force behind the assassination attempts? I love how everything comes together in this satisfying finale. Secrets will be uncovered. Hearts will be mended. Lives will be changed. I was already invested in the Scepter storyline, but my priority is always ROMANCE!! And how good was the romance between Clayton and Cordelia! I loved it! I also enjoyed reading the author’s note.
If you like action packed, steamy historical romance, you’ll enjoy this. Each book in this series is better than the one before. But this one might be my favorite!
CW: Explosions, gunfire, and a bit of violence.
My thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the e-ARC. This is my honest review.

This is the sixth and concluding book in the Lords of the Armory series. The series combines mystery/palace intrigue plots with romance. Scepter, an anarchist group called plotting the overthrown of the monarchy, has been the ongoing villain in the series. General Clayton Elliott, Home Office Undersecretary, is still hunting the ringleader and those helping him. When arriving for a party thrown by the Prince Regent Clayton, saves a woman being dragged away at knifepoint. She is Her Serene Highness Princess Cordelia of Monrovia. Cordelia has come to London for a political marriage that will strengthen ties between the two countries. Cordelia is also in line for the British throne. Clayton volunteers to over see her protection. After another attempt is made on the Princess and fingers are pointing at Clayton the two only have themselves to rely on. He also turns to his trusted friends to help him stop Scepter once and for all.
I’ve enjoyed this exciting series and A Problem Princess is a fitting and exciting culmination. The villain isn’t a shock but kudos to the author for weaving real history into her storyline. Cordelia is wonderful as the princess willing to do all she can for her country and for love. Clayton gets the perfect person for him and gets closure on his past. And I love that other MCs get appearances. I think this may be my favorite book in the series. I will be waiting to see what adventures the author takes me on next.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC and I’m leaving a voluntary review. (4.5 Stars)

this is my 2nd anna harrington novel but one of about a million historical romances that ive read and this one holds up just as strong as any of the others! i am so happy to know that i enjoyed this one as much as the first and will continue reading annas books with vigor!

I enjoyed this book! Like Anna Harrington’s other books, this was fun, fast paced, romantic, and suspenseful! I loved the main characters, as well, especially Cordelia. The romance in this book was well written, and there was great emotional depth to it, which I appreciated. While it was a bit insta-lovey, I thought it was well written! The plot was very fast paced, and once things picked up, they didn’t slow down until the end. Overall, I’d recommend this book!

There was a lot happening in this book, and Ms. Harrington does an excellent job of not overwhelming the reader with too much information at the beginning. Throughout the previous books in this series, an ongoing Scepter conspiracy is teased in them. In this book, General Clayton Elliott, Home Office Undersecretary, and new viscount, is charged with protecting Princess Cordelia of Monrovia while she's on English soil for a royal visit and possible marriage to one of the royal dukes. The only problem is Cordelia does not want to marry one of the royal dukes, and she finds herself drawn more and more to the handsome soldier and war hero who has sworn to protect her.
The book has numerous twists and turns incorporating some real events as the princess is attacked. There are evil machinations, all trying to cause as much chaos as possible with the royal visit, along with a healthy dose of intrigue and suspense in trying to uncover Scepter's identity. Along the way, Clayton and Cordelia's relationship grows into something more than either of them could imagine while trying to evade those who want Cordelia dead. Knowing they can only rely on each other, Clayton reluctantly realizes he must keep his heart in check, but how will he ever be able to let go of the woman he loves?
This was an excellent conclusion to a fun and engaging series.

What do you get when you mix James Bond with the Bodyguard, royalty and a HEA? That’s right, this book!
This is my first read from writer Anna Harrington (and this is the 6th book in the Lords of the Armory series) and it can be read as a stand-alone!
I really enjoyed this one. Normally I am not one for royalty in my historical romances but this was greatly done. The chemistry between Clayton and Cordelia was amazing and after the first 2 chapters the book flies off with a crazy amount of action. Clayton needs to find out if the secret society Scepter that has been deemed dismantled is still together and at the same time he believes they also want to kill Cordelia. The only question is why.
Even though I figured everything out pretty much from the second chapter (I read a lot of Scandinavian crime books back in the day 😆), this was fun and action packed and even has a forced proximity moment. I mean, ofcourse it has it! And there is only one bed! (Obviously)
I loved the way the romance developed and that the conflict was mostly due to external factors. Slowly Clayton and Cordelia start to trust each other and they slowly revealed their secrets over the course of the book.
Tropes:
- Bodyguard
- Forbidden love
- Royalty
- Secret society
- Class difference
- Secret agents
- Mystery solving
- Road trip
- Forced Proximity
- Only one bed!
Thank you to Netgalley and sourcebooks Casablanca for providing an ARC

“She pulled in a deep breath. "And what do you do, exactly?"
"Uncover secrets." He folded his arms across his chest. "And I'll uncover yours, too.
All of them, no matter how long it takes."”
Absolutely wonderful continuation of a series I was already obsessed with staring from book four !!!!
I had the pleasure of reading both book four and five of the Lords of Armory series and when it got to reading book six … I was very excited !!!
This time we have crowned princess of Morovia, Cordelia and a royal guard part of the Home Office in England, Clayton.
The only thing in this book that was better than the plot and the intrigued, we get to love more every time we read another book in this series, is the constant tension between the characters !!!
I so love when the MMC tries to resist her when she knows exactly what she wants !!!!
Reading this book was not only fan and entertaining but absolutely spicy and hot !!!
Clayton is wonderful and Cordelia, despite her inexperience, makes him so smitten that well … you know what happens!!!
When their impossible relationship is also threatened by attempts on her life … one bed trope and forced proximity will do the trick !!!!
I’m so excited to know what the author will come up with in the next instalments for this series !!!
“He would do anything to protect her.
Even from himself.”

This series has an overarching theme of a secret villain who wants to overturn the prince regent and cause mayhem. We go back to the mysterious Spector.
It was a very enjoyable and sweet romance with two very likable characters.
Even though it is not my favorite series or book by this author I enjoyed it more than some others.
It is a book I would recommend to other readers of the genre.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for the copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

I recieved a free copy from netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Overall I did like this book. It took me longer than normal to get through it because I feel like the pacing was slower. This final book wraps up the threat of Spector.
Cordelia has arrived in England to marry one of the royal dukes. As princess of Monrovia, she has no choice in the matter.
Clayton blackmailed the Prince Regent into making him a general and now he is to guard the princess after an attempted assassination.
I liked Clayton and Cordelia wasn't bad. I do feel like the story was little slow and the ending too fast but enjoyable.

Started slow and wrapped up too fast. Also, didn’t love the gilded princess who suffers constantly vibe, it’s hard to feel sorry for a princess. The man was also fairly quick to abandon his principles and hop into bed with her, and it just made the whole plot nonsensical.

General Clayton Elliott works as Undersecretary for the Home Office. His life has been a rollercoaster so far, he has spent most of it trying to make up for the sins of his father.
Princess Cordelia of Monrovia has accompanied her uncle to England and knows she is to be married off to one of the royal dukes.
This steamy historical romance is full of danger and political intrigue. Our pampered Princess has no idea how much danger she is in. Our hero knows there is much more behind the events than the obvious. There could be disastrous consequences for the whole of Britain.
This story is part of a series and although you can read it on its own, the series is better read in order because of the political implications.
I have read all the previous books and enjoyed the almost non stop action in all of them.
It's very easy to get caught up in the lives of all the characters and hard to see how our author can give these two a happy ending.
Very exciting.

Cordelia, just wants to be like all other plain Jane's in the world. She loves the idea of having to cook for herself and dress herself. To have a moment when she's not on display and has time for herself.
Clayton just wants to finally put an end to Scepter once and for all. Protecting Cordelia puts him closer to that goal.
The two are an unusual pair. Clayton helped Cordelia free herself from her family and fell in love with her while doing it.
I loved this book and the series. I'm very happy with how it was all wrapped up in the end.

General Clayton Elliott, Home Office Undersecretary, has been taking down an anarchist group for years and his instincts say it hasn't been irradicated yet. When he saves Her Serene Highness Princess Cordelia of Monrovia from an attack, he's convinced it's associated with his investigation. Acting as the head of her security, their forbidden attraction continues to simmer.
This is the sixth and final book in the Lords of the Armory series. It revolves around a group of military men and government agents tasked with bringing down a treasonous group. The individual pieces are resolved at the end of each book, but the larger investigation continues through the whole series. This one can mostly stand alone, although characters from the other stories (especially books one and three) play a role.
Princess Cordelia has been forced to accompany her uncle on a visit to her British Royal family, with a political marriage looming. Before she can be presented at a welcome event, there is an attempt on her life and Clayton happens to be in the right place at the right time. Forming a quick bond with the only person to treat her as an average person, Cordelia insists that Clayton manage her protection.
I love that this story got off to a quick start, involved some of my favorite characters from the previous books, and managed to incorporate some twists into what could have been a predictable plot. While the villain(s) were not surprising, the way that the followers were called into attack mode was very clever! It was a satisfying end to the series, and I particularly liked the author notes with an explainer of the political climate and actual Royal family lineage.
Tropes: Spy/Govt Work, Royalty,
Protector, Forbidden Love, Forced Proximity

* I received an ARC and this is my honest review. #NetGalley #AProblemPrincess

Thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca, Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I am a fan of this author and have read several of her previous historical romances. I like the way actual history blends with her fictional characters' lives and how the plots are always interesting and tie in with actual historical events.
Although Cordelia's kingdom is fictional, we can read between the lines and pick a country that the author is referencing (see the Author's note at the end for context). I love how Clayton fulfils the bodyguard role and how their relationship develops through his protection of her and her desire to be seen as more than just a political pawn.
There's a moment or two where I thought they might have been moving towards romance inexplicably, and it took me a while to really feel the chemistry between these two, but I got there in the end. I think the cover makes the heroine look like she might be a woman of colour but this is never addressed in the book - just something to be aware of, not a statement of any kind.
I liked it but I didn't love it as much as I have this author's work in the past.

Oh Boy… another Scepter novel. The last, alas. But what fun. Of course everyone thinks Scepter is defeated and life is going on until a visiting Princes, Cordelia, is attacked and needs Clayton to be her bodyguard. Clayton has long been fighting Scepter and he suspects a link. We’ve seen him in the other novels so it is a treat to see him with his own storyline.
It’s got a lot for everyone: spy/thriller/mystery/Regency romance. And, it is Hot! Gotta love it.
Thanks to NetGalley and Sourcebooks Casablanca for the ARC is exchange for my honest review.
