Why We Need Teachers is part of the Always in My Heart series, showing relationships and appreciation for others. I liked that this book shows the wonderful relationships between children and their teachers, coaches, mentors and even their parents. The book shares things we learn including social skills and that some things are harder to learn than others. Once again, animal pairs are used in the illustrations. I love all the images of teaching, sharing and kindness that is demonstrated. The animals are large and colourful and we talked about them as well. My grandson didn't know all of them (eg. otters) so he learned a few new animals as well. Although this is not a family relationship like most of the books in this series, teachers spend more time with our children than some parents do, and when I taught, I was often called mom, accidentally. The text with it's four line stanzas had some great rhymes and an easy cadence for reading aloud. I can see this book being gifted to teachers, especially family members who are in that field.

Why We Need Teachers by Gregory Lang is a charming picture book with rhymes and cute animal illustrations. It celebrates the important role that teachers play in children's lives and would make a perfect gift for any educator. I purchased it for a colleague who needed a little brightness in her day.

Teachers are so underappreciated today- this book is an adorable little pushback against that. I loved seeing it.

This is another book in a series of similar stories. The illustrations are soft, colorful, and fun. The story is a lesson on why teachers are a good thing. Something many current adults need to remember. This is a loving ode to teachers that is much appreciated.

“A good teacher is like a candle – it consumes itself to light the way for others”

We celebrate 'Teacher's Day' every year and do respect our teachers for educating us and mold us to become able to overcome every obstacle present during schooling as child and teenager and then further in life. Guiding us through our learning phase and preparing us for every absurd condition to face it fairly, there is only one light after our parents and that is our teachers.

Now a days, teachers are not teachers but professional job-doers and smart classes finished ethics of being a student is real form. I remember for we never countered our teachers with wrong attitude but simply with humbleness asked them about our inquisitiveness but students now a days are so ill-mannered. In place of curiosity-quenching they misbehave with teachers and counter check them whereas teachers are misguiding their students per their own biased agendas rather than behaving like a force that subsided trash and push worthiness forward. Even now whenever I face any of my teachers, I do touch their feet for blessings and still stand like I do when I was in school with hands folded downside in front.

This is a good picture-book on a thanks-giving and appreciating teachers for what they actually meant to be.

I read this for free in exchange for my honest feedback from NetGalley. This is a beautifully illustrated book with a sweet poem about your teachers. I like that it tells you to thank all your teachers for all that we do. It would definitely be a good gift to a new graduate of either high school or kindergarten. Thanks!

Just in time for Teacher Appreciation Week, this touching picture book lists reasons why teachers are necessary. Rhyming text describes skills and knowledge that are learned from various mentors, coaches, and other teachers. Mixed media illustrations depict various scenes of adult and young animals interacting with each other. Some pages are fairly realistic - otters twirling underwater, deer walking through a snowy forest, or bears enjoying some apples. Others will have readers laughing at a young bee working with an abacus or hedgehogs using a chalkboard.

A sampling of some reasons why we need teachers include "Teachers give us tools to make sense of things" and "Teachers help mold our brains, but also our hearts!" Whether you know a youngster who will enjoy the gentle humor or have a teacher you wish to recognize, pick up a copy and share it with someone special.

This book is part of a series that includes Why a Son Needs a Mom, Why a Daughter Needs a Dad, and Why the World Needs Love. Teacher Appreciation Week is May 8 - 12, 2023 - but don't forget Mother's Day and Father's Day!

A beautifully illustrated book sharing a story of the important of teachers. Although this could apply to anyone in a mentor role with children. Shows a lot of respect. Highly recommend.

As someone who has quite a few friends who are teachers, I feel this is a timely children's book about why teachers are so important.

This is a lovely book, filled with fun and gorgeous illustrations, that talks about both the teachers in the classroom/school AND the teachers that we have all around us [parents, coaches, librarians etc], that also teach daily. It also talks about how teachers teach MORE than just the school subjects [being kind, sharing etc] and how they [along with amazing librarians] can show kids the world through reading, life experience, world views and events. Teachers are second only to parents IMO and this book shows that and how we need to treasure the teachers we have.

Thank you to NetGalley, Gregory E. Lang, Lisa Alderson - Illustrator, Craig Manning - Story Adapter, and SOURCEBOOKS Kids/Sourcebooks Wonderland for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Why We Need Teachers. By Gregory E. Lang, Illustrator: Lisa Alderson. 2023. Sourcebooks Wonderland (ARC eBook).

What gorgeous and well-staged illustrations! The rhyming is fun and thoughtful, and there is a dedication page in the front in which the names of the gifter and giftee can be written in. A nice gift for or from parents, the best teachers of all.

A book that enlighten children about teachers. How they help children to read, write, count. And how they also mold children's brain to be a better thinker. This pretty book can be offered to their favorite teacher, or simply for them to read and appreciate their teachers more.

This is such a sweet book. I really loved the rhymes, they are well done and easy to speak. They are definitely something that will hold a child’s attention. I also loved how the book mentions that teachers are more than the teachers at a school. Teachers are also coaches and instructors on lessons. However, this author fails to mention a child’s first teacher, the one who actually introduced them to the world around them, and that is typically the parents or guardians. While this book is mainly about classroom teachers, it is important to acknowledge that some of the statements in this book better suit parents/guardians.

Regardless, this is a fantastic book about those who work so hard every day to help our children become the best they can be. The sacrifices they make for others' children is something that should not go unseen.

I would definitely recommend this as a great gift to give your child’s teacher to remind them how appreciated they are.
