Thank you NetGalley for the eARC. I love this author and I will read anything she writes. My only complaint is that the books are always over too fast for me.
A cut quick romance with a lovable heroine and hero. Great writing and characters Sam always delivers great romance.
What happens when an alpha and VC of the Poisoned Woves MC falls for the pact reject. Amelia was considered to be off. She was a vegan. Who ever heard of a vegan wolf? When Wolfe can’t take his eyes off her sparks fly! Great read!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
This book was both heartbreaking and sweet. The poor FMC, Amelia, has had to put up with so much and she is still so loyal to her pack. Time and time again they have tried to get her kicked out, degraded her, and belittled her and yet she doesn't hold any violent or I'll feelings toward them.
Wolfe, the MC, is a stubborn idiot. He is also very adorable and loving. He has trouble seeing Amelia as truly strong and, therefore, doesn't believe she can be a good mate to him. Oh how wrong he is. He truly messes everything up and while I don't believe he's redeemed himself by the end, he's on his way to it. Lots of groveling is in store and I know he's more than happy to oblige.
My biggest complaint isn't with the story itself but with the writing. A lot of things a very repetitive. I found many lines being repeated over and over but with slightly different phrasing. Thought of the characters were also excessively repeated. The POVs aren't clear as to who's is who. I think at one point we get two different side character's pov but it isn't labeled so it's difficult to tell.
Overall I loved this book. I love Sam's writing in general but this is the first book I've received from NetGalley by her. I look forward to more!!
This is a great start to a new series. The story is well written and entertaining featuring an Wolfe, an Alpha wolf and Amelia a she wolf who is much more than she appears. There is an unexpected danger that is neutralized but I wonder if it will appear in future books in this series. There is a HEA for Amelia and Wolfe but a lot happens first and he almost blows it. I really enjoyed the story and all of the interaction between the numerous characters. This is definitely a book worth reading and future stories.
I received a free copy of this book via Netgalley and are voluntarily leaving a review.
Complimentary copy provided by NetGalley and the publisher. My first shifter romance experience and it was interesting and engaging. The outcast is really the strongest one in the pack was a great theme. Sam Crescent created the characters build up beautifully.
I really enjoyed this story. I loved how the heroine was unapologetically herself.
Grumpy MC Biker werewolf falls for a vegan, pacifist werewolf - definitely a first for me. Some good plot twist kept things interesting and the HEA was just the right amount of sweet.
Hard for You is book 1 in the Poison Wolves MC and I did enjoy the book. Sometimes, I felt like smacking Wolfe upside the head. Wolfe is part of the MC who protects like pack. He has always been attracted to Amelia, but because she is an outcast he avoids the attraction. Amelia is an outcast in her pack due to her being a Vegan, animal lover and who they basically feel is weird. Wolfe and Amelia had definite chemistry. Amelia was a doormat for her pack and Wolfe wasn't very nice to her. In my opinion he was so focused on Amelia being weak and an unworthy mate for him that it took away from the romance. I am looking forward to future books by this author. I am curious about the other members of the Poison Wolves MC.
I was provided an ARC through NetGalley for an honest review of the book.
A nice little pararomance novel.
I was surprised positively by the female character. She was enjoyable, sweet and feels like she could be a real person.
Speaking of the first male character, he is nice but a bit dumb to my taste. I wish I could give him a slap or two.
The male alpha of their clan was smarter than him and smarter than him about the female character
Otherwise it was a nice story to read; I had a good time
This was my first read of Sam Crescent and I'm so glad I read it. I loved the idea of a female wolf shifter rebelling in such a unique way.
I thought Amelia's character was really well done. There was the potential for her to turn into a weak, passive/submissive character, but she wasn't. Even as she took the abuse the pack rained on her and yet kept trudging on, it felt more like she was able to endure because she was strong and their approval wasn't anything she needed.
Definitely wanted to hit Wolfe over the head a few times, but ultimately he brought the drama (and tears because yes I cried over his treatment of Amelia).
This was a great read and I will absolutely be looking for the next in the series!
*4.5 stars*
Steamy shifter romance…
I loved this start to the Poison Wolves MC series! I’ve read this author years and can’t resist whenever a new book comes out. They will be filled with interesting characters, all the heat and a story that will hit all the notes. This time out was no exception…
Amelia as an outlier in her wolf pack. A vegan? Loved dogs? Advocated for wild animals. #nohunting? You go girl! Wolfe was not only deeply enmeshed in the pack but was a leader, known and respected by everyone. When her life was in danger, he stepped up. She was pack and therefore protected, regardless of the rest. I loved how they seemed to connect and find common ground, despite their differences. And, honestly, they just felt so right. Of course there were all kinds of obstacles and the pack’s interference didn’t help at all. All the drama made the story even spicier though and, start to finish, was a great read.
Not complicated but highly entertaining, this is a series I have on my watch list!
I loved this shifter romance!
Amelia has hard a pretty hard life with being the outcast of the pack. It made me so happy that Amelia wasn’t a naive, damsel in distress. She knew who she was and didn’t care what others thought.
Wolfe was definitely a sexy, bike, alpha-male. I loved every second of it. From the long hair to the leather. Yum. He was also the perfect asshole. He ripped Amelia’s heart out and did everything his his power to make it right. I love this trope. This one actually checked off quite a few tropes I love.
If you like shifter romances I highly recommend!
I confess I didn't expect this to be great, but I did expect it to be *fun.* It's so cringe. The plot is ridiculous, the writing is weak, and the smut is just...boring.
3.75stars--HARD FOR YOU is the first instalment in Sam Crescent’s contemporary, adult POISON WOLVES MC erotic, paranormal romance series. This is Poison Wolves MC VP Wolfe, and twenty-five year old waitress Amelia’s story line.
Told from dual third person perspectives (Wolfe and Amelia) HARD FOR YOU follows the building but tempestuous relationship between Poison Wolves MC VP Wolfe, and twenty-five year old Amelia. Amelia is a Pack outcast; a vegan wolf who refuses to hunt, a woman who has been broken by the family and the Pack meant to keep her from harm but someone or something is hunting the wolves, and Amelia lives on the edge of the forest involved. Trying to keep his distance, there is something about Amelia that attracts our hero, something he refuses to accept, admit or want anything to do. Breaking Amelia’s heart is but the first in a long list of sins for which Wolfe must atone but not believing her about the hunter in the forest threatens the life of the woman with whom he is falling in love. What ensues is the building but acrimonious relationship between Wolfe and Amelia, and the potential fall-out as Amelia is targeted for what she is, and who she knows.
Amelia has suffered for years at the hands of the Pack in which she belongs but Amelia is stronger than most, and our heroine refuses to give in without a fight. Having caught the eye of the Club VP gave our heroine pause for thought but betrayal at the hands of Wolfe meant Amelia struggled with life going forward.
The relationship between Amelia and Wolfe begins slowly as Wolfe cannot stay away from our story line heroine but Amelia’s reputation as an outcast, a vegan and a literal PITA, meant Wolfe struggled with attraction to a woman no other wolf or Pack would accept. Wolfe never wanted to break her heart but Wolfe broke the woman with whom he was falling in love. The $ex scenes are intimate and passionate but I dislike the use of a certain four-letter word in my romance story lines.
We are introduced to several members of the Poison Wolves MC: Alpha, Draco, Boyan and Enzo, as well as bar owner Val, and local veterinarian Doctor Milton.
HARD FOR YOU is a story of betrayal, discrimination, judgement and forgiveness. The premise is heart breaking and emotional; the romance is seductive and fated; the characters are energetic and determined.

Hard for You is book 1 in the Poison Wolves MC and an ok read for me. Amelia is an outcast in her pack due to her being a Vegan, animal lover and who they basically feel is weird. Wolfe is part of the MC who protects the pack and who wants Amelia. The chemistry between Wolfe and Amelia was definitely hot but overall, the story was boring. Amelia was a doormat for her pack and Wolfe wasn't as Alpha as I would prefer. In my opinion he was so focused on Amelia being weak and an unworthy mate for him that it took away from the romance.
what is not to love about Sam Cresent books. I was drawn to this one and all of the others. A good one to not put down.
Amelia is a wolf shifter , vegan, animal lover, non violent, and hated by her pack. She is forced to live at the edge of town and can’t keep a job because no one wants her around. While walking her dogs, she sees something in the forest that’s not quite human. Wolfe, VP of the Poison Wolves MC and a wolf shifter. The Alpha has them taking turns and watching her. Things become hot between them until Wolfe screws up. Wolfe believes Amelia didn’t see anything in the forest until she disappears. Will Wolfe find her in time?
This was soooo good. Amelia has the best personality even though nobody wants her around. I would have liked to have smacked Wolfe. Sex and mystery. Be prepared for tears so keep the tissues near. My only complaint was the words spunk and jizz used for ejaculation. I think there are other words to use.

First in a new shifter series. Bullied for being different, wolf shifter Amelia catches the eye of Wolfe a member of the Poison Wolves MC. They develop a relationship and appear to be in love but Wolfe thinks that Amelia is weak and he feels that they cannot be a permanent thing. He ghosts her but he misses her and she allows him back into her life. She sees someone lurking behind her house and the MC protects her but when no one turns up, Wolfe allows his MC brothers to get into his head and he begins to doubt that Amelia saw anything at all and maybe she even made it up. He ruins their relationship but Amelia wants to prove that she is trustworthy. The lack of groveling by Wolfe and the acceptance of Amelia that she has to prove herself worthy of Wolfe is why this didn't get 5 stars. In the end, I really feel that Amelia deserved someone better because ironically it's Wolfe that shows he is weak and not Amelia. However, I really liked this shifter tale and the combo of MC and shifter really worked.
I love Sam Crescent and I know she will always deliver a quick romance with a curvy heroine and an alpha hero. This one has three of my favorite tropes - MC Alphas, Wolf Shifters, and independent curvy heroines! So it was a quick and fun read that got me out of a reading slump!
An interesting mix of motorcycle club and werewolf tropes. It felt like a quick read. I love Amelia and how she doesn’t back down from what she believes in. She is a well developed character and I would love to read more about her.
Thank you to Netgalley and Evernight Publishing for the ARC.
