This was such a cute feel good romcom. I loved the premise of the country girl falling for the city boy. Gave me all the holiday vibes.
Sports agent Ryan Callahan’s trip is a complete disaster. Not only did he fail to sign a promising young ballplayer, but now he’s stranded in a Kentucky town no bigger than a bourbon ball. His plane’s been canceled, there’s not a cab to be found, and getting back to New York City is gonna take a miracle. Like a quirky, strawberry-blonde florist with a big van and a craving for late-night, deep-fried hotdogs. With her best friend’s wedding and her business on the line, Sabrina Hayes needs to be in New York like yesterday. But with her flight canceled and her bank account almost as empty as her gas tank, an extra passenger might just be the long-overdue lucky charm Sabrina needs…especially now that she knows he’s definitely not a serial killer disguised as a scrumptious Thor look-alike. Somewhere between a roadside stand that serves food as fast as it serves weddings, a motel room haunted by a lovesick ghost, and a car race known as the Snowball 500, Sabrina and Ryan are about to discover that anything that can go wrong will go hilariously wrong. But even they are not prepared for what’s in store on the road ahead…
This book was hilarious and I loved it. I loved Sam and Ryan's characters and how well written they were. Their conversations were the best part of the story in my opinion and really added to their romance. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the advanced copy.
No Rescue Required by Maggie Kelley is a strangers to lovers, small town romance packed with witty banter, laugh out loud scenes and definitely slow burn vibes. .
Ryan Callahan is a sports agent who needs to sign a small town player when he discovers it will take more than city talk to pursuade his next client.. Will he be able to close the deal and get home in time before the impending storm?
Sabrina Hayes is a local florist who is mintues from heading out to her best friends wedding in New York but when her plans derail, she'll need a miracle to make it to the church on time.? Can she trust the cute stranger who walked into her shop?
A laugh out loud slow burn is the perfect addition to any book stash during the holiday season or any time you're in the mood for a little sparkle and cheer. This has all you need for a great holiday romance read - a little sweet, a bit of spice and a roadtrip for the memory books. Planes, trains and automobile shenanigans with a dash of cupid!. One of the best scenes on a train I've read in a while - thank you Maggie!
Happy reading and when you're finished be sure to check out Maggies backlist, her books are guaranteed fun!
I can't wait for her next book release.
No Rescue Required is the fourth title in the Smart Cupid series (and each can be easily read as a standalone title) that puts two unlikely people on an unexpected road trip right before Christmas that will change lives… and give us more than a few chuckles and a lovely romance to watch unfolding.
Ryan is a New Yorker to the core, he’s also a retired athlete due to an injury and is now scouting out new talent offering them (and sometimes their parents) a fair deal in signing with their agency in what I found to be a most heartwarming and protective manner. But Ryan is completely out of step with the nuances of this small Kentucky town and gets kicked to the curb quite quickly by the young man’s father for his city-slicker ways… and you have to admit that pinstripes and a tie, and fast-talking ways just don’t really work in a small town, at all, if anything they shout “outsider” with a bullhorn. Now Ryan’s trip is for nothing, and his flight back to New York has been canceled due to a winter storm so he’s scrambling not only for shelter from the storm but a way back home as well. He desperately needs a minor miracle and he’s about to get his wish granted in a most unusual way.
Sabrina is on her way to New York City for a friend’s wedding, in fact, she’s providing a living bouquet for the bride (which I found fascinating in its description). The trouble is her flight has been canceled, there’s a slightly deranged New Yorker on her store’s front step, and she’s about to make the most daring decision of her life when she makes a ride-sharing deal with Ryan. It doesn’t hurt one little bit that he’s handsome as sin, seems to have a loving family, and doesn’t shout “serial killer” when he speaks. She’s taking a risk, but when your back is to the wall and you don’t want to disappoint a close friend… well, a road trip with a stranger it is.
I absolutely loved Sabrina and Ryan together. Their banter is both lighthearted and shows each other who they really are beneath the surface. Their adventures on this road trip definitely upped the chuckle limit when the unexpected struck (thinking ghosts in hotel rooms here), and the romance was fun and off the charts in the sizzle factor. I had such a good time watching two strangers learn about each other, and take the risk of falling in love, and what an epilogue.
I loved every moment spent with this couple – and if you love a well-written story, banter, laughter, and watching two people fall in love on a road trip that involves fine roadside dining (deep-fried hotdogs) and perhaps a touch of a ghostly presence then you’ll love No Rescue Required.
*I received an e-ARC of this novel from the publisher via NetGalley. That does not change what I think of this story. It is my choice to leave a review giving my personal opinion about this book.*
This book was both so funny and cute that I couldn’t put it down from start to finish! I loved the unique plot and where the author took both characters on their little journey together! It would make such a good rom com movie! I loved the country girl falling for a city boy theme and I really liked that there were heartfelt moments mixed in with all the fun and sexiness! It was a great Christmas time read! I didn’t realize it was #4 in a series and now need to pick up the other books in the series too!
Can you fall in love in 36 hours? Bad weather, stranded strangers, a road trip with car problems, one haunted hotel room with only one bed, oh and just days before Christmas all leads to a wonderful, feel good romance in Maggie Kelley’s No Rescue Required.
Workaholic sports agent Ryan is stranded in a small Kentucky town with no new client as the teen’s dad had no use for his “city slicker” ways, and any ride share or taxi to get him out of it. When he sees the light on in a florist shop he feels he has nothing to lose, little does he know knocking on that window and yelling to “Wildcat girl” that his life will never be the same.
As soon as Sabrina opens the door she knows the man standing there is all big city business, but he also seems genuinely thankful that she gave him the benefit of the doubt. Finding out his flight to New York was cancelled didn’t bode well for her own flight and when they find out that they might not get there before Sunday, she knows that won’t do. Her best friend is getting married and she has the one of a kind bouquet to deliver guaranteed to be on Page Six, hoping it will save the flower shop she inherited from her grandmother.
I loved this book and the way both characters had big assumptions about each other but the more time they spent together the more they realized there was more to one another. The road trip was one mishap after the other and at times a bit ridiculous yet I was so invested in these characters it didn’t matter. I like the way they challenged each other, both staying true to themselves while digging deeper to realize they had more to give.
No Rescue Required was a fast paced, insta-love romance that I found hard to put down and enjoyed immensely. If you’re looking for a fun holiday read, check this one out.
I received a complimentary copy of No Rescue Required in exchange for an honest review. Way to knock it out of the park Ms. Kelley. I absolutely loved everything about this feel good romance. The plot, the characters, the chemistry, everything. Would highly recommend this book for sure.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with this book!
I LOVED this book! I could not put it down and I enjoyed everything about it. Sabrina and Ryan have such a sweet story. I did not want this book to end.
No Rescue Required is a sweet rom com with two strangers coming together after their flights to New York were cancelled. Once the road trip commences Ryan and Sabrina get to know each other and start to let their walls down. I loved the characters and their dialogue. Definitely a fun read!
Right now, No Rescue Required is on Kindle Unlimited. This is a part of the Smart Cupid series, but can be read as a standalone.
Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing and author Maggie Kelley for this digital copy for me to read and enjoy. As always, my reviews are voluntary and my opinions are my own.
No Rescue Required was the perfect road trip romance to get you in the mood for the holidays. There was plenty of romantic atmosphere as our couple traveled from location to location to get to their final destination of the Big Apple. You wouldn’t imagine a sports agent and a florist to have much in common at first glance, but they discover more similarities as they get closer to New York City. No Rescue Required was a unique book because the road trip trope is often underutilized in the romance genre. I think it was a wonderful way for our characters to be in close proximity and be forced to learn more about each other. I loved all their little stops throughout the trip and it added to the book’s charm. They stopped at a hot dog shack, haunted hotel, and even managed to sneak some kisses in a moving train car. My favorite location was the novelty hot dog shack because it was a cute first locale and the fact that I simply can’t say no to a good frankfurter.
No Rescue Required was a fun jaunt down Lovers Lane Highway, but we took a few too many detours. I was having a lovely time, yet the characters’ dialogue felt rather verbose at times. They had very wordy discussions and I was eager for the next scene to progress. Perhaps because I’m more of a succinct conversationalist but the interactions tended to go on a few pages too long. My interest started to flag after our lovebirds reenacted their own version of Starlight Express on the train, if you catch my drift. I thought Ryan and Sabrina had a lovely chemistry, even though it was a bit of a slow burn. We could have shoveled the proverbial coal in the train’s boiler a few chapters earlier and I would have been satisfied. There are only so many saucy train puns I can make before it gets obvious, folks!
No Rescue Required certainly lived up to the title because Ryan was able to aid Sabrina in their mutual desire to make it to New York all the way from the Bluegrass State of Kentucky. It featured a sweet romance, fun banter, and plenty of exciting pit stops along the way. It was a quaint little excursion through the Eastern Coast and I was happy to read an early copy of this book. It was somewhat reminiscent of the Muppet Movie where Kermit and Fozzie's road trip where they are trying to make it big in the bright lights of Hollywood. Our main couple certainly matched them in personality, but thankfully with far less fur. All we needed was a big musical number from Sabrina or Ryan and we would definitely have been moving right along. There may have been No Rescue Required, but I would have been pleased with a tiny driving montage.
No Rescue Required by author Maggie Kelley was a feel good read with some likeable characters. Sabrina and Ryan’s characters we’re affable characters and their interactions and dialogue held interest. A feel good, simmering read.

The chemistry between Sabrina and Ryan was absolutely sizzling. I loved how they came from such different backgrounds and perspectives. It gave them as characters more depth, I also loved how protective Jane was. No Rescue Required is the perfect forced proximity holiday read
The story started sweet and wholesome.
Ryan founds himself in a town in the middle of nowhere. He meets Sabrina and the two decide to go on a trip to New York. Of course, it doesn’t go without some problems…
The story was really sweet and filled with movie-worthy scenarios. Unfortunately, I feel like for me it dragged. There were some moments that I feel were more focused on Sabrina saving her dress for the friend’s wedding and her flower bouquet (she’s a florist) than being present in the moment. This really ruined the book for me because I grew tired of reading the same thing over and over again.
Even now, a month later, besides one scene this mention of the bouquet and dress is the only thing I remember from the book.
So, lowering it to 3 stars.

Thank you Entangled Publishing LLC and Netgalley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
This was a sweet romance between a charming city slicker and a beautiful and sweet Southern-ish tomboy. The heroine who was struggling with grief and her business, the hero who was lost and broken but was still kind. I love their slow progress to a relationship, their fun trip, their journey to discovery. I love Ryan's POV when he described Sabrina. I don't particularly like their long-ass monologues, but their friendship was smooth.
However, I struggled to finish this because of the boring monologue, so I skimmed most of it.
This was a light hearted read with a splash of angst and a dose of steam. Maybe because it is part of a series or because it takes place over 2 days, but I didn’t feel emotionally invested with the characters. I liked both Sabrina (a sweet Southern gal) and Ryan (a workaholic New Yorker) and enjoyed following their adventure, but I didn’t feel like I knew enough about them to really care about their journey.
This was a sweet and humorous holiday forced proximity (stuck in a car road trip) insta attraction romance
Ryan finds himself stuck in small-town middle of nowhere
In his quest for directions he fabricates a small white lie to get entrance into a flower shop (don't judge it's cold and you can't order an uber if you don't know where you are)
Meet Sabrina who is about to impart a little small-town wisdom as well as a solution to both their problems
Fast-paced with a light tang of angst surrounded by a whole lot of getting to know you sweet as all get out romance
Solid fireplace read

Kelley's writing is engaging, easily accessible, and swiftly draws the reader in and keeps them on board. This is the first novel I have read by Maggie Kelley and it will definitely not be my last. This insta love romance is the perfect holiday treat for readers. This book is the relationship building of Ryan, a sports agent, and Sabrina, a small town florist. This road trip romance has a delightful small town charm as both Ryan and Sabrina explore what it means to be big city verses small town. This book is quick paced full of quirky moments, humor, and sensuality. I love watching two strangers in situations that show each other how they truly work and handle unforeseen situations. This moments and mishaps also create a really lovely building of understanding and companionship between these two opposite attract characters. By working together throughout this road trip these two can quickly build an understand and rapport with each other that steams not only from physical attraction but through problem solving together and learning to understand the other.

Thank you Entangled Publishing. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
What a great way to pass time spending it with Sabrina and Ryan. I wish everyone their Ryan. Do not miss this charming read.
This was a sweet quick read. Tons of fun and laughter abound on this road trip plagued with trouble. The characters are well thought about and easy to love. Though it takes place over a short period of time the characters had depth. Once I started I had a terrible time putting this book down. This was the first book I have read written by this author but I am excided to read more. If your looking for a fun, romantic Christmas read this one is perfect!
This is a new to me author, so I have not read anything else in the series. That being said though I don't feel like I need to, to read this book. It does bring up the other characters from the other books. Now on to this story, it was super cute story, it gave off Hallmark vibes for sure. I loved Sabrina she was so sweet and had the biggest heart but she wanted to guard her self from the pain of love. Ryan was the jock who didn't make it and felt like he lost a part of who he was and kept trying to find who he was. He was kind but also came off like a bit conceded and better then. The story was overall fun read, very predictable, but if you love a good Hallmark movie then this is for you. This book does contain sex so may not be suitable for readers.
