Detective Jo Fournier’s latest case is that of a District Attorney named Sandra Ashville. One of the first things that is learned is that the victim was blindfolded after she was killed. This is concerning for Jo, especially when just the next day, a judge was killed and she also was blindfolded. Quite naturally, Jo and her team know that a serial killer is suddenly on the loose and with the victims being in law-enforcement there has to be a connection even deeper than that.
Jo becomes aware what that deeper connection is but also discovering that there is corruption going on, and that this could possibly include her partner Bob Arnett, leaves Jo in a fevered race to find answers.
This sixth book in in the fabulous Detective Jo Fournier series by M. M. Chouinard hits the ground running with the tension never once letting up. Jo’s determination comes second to her dedication in this exciting installment. This one-sitting read was utterly impossible to put down. It is with bated breath that I await book seven in this compelling series.
Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC for review. This is my honest opinion.

What a emotional roller coaster ride from start to finish!!
What They Saw had me up late into the night reading because I just had to find out what the ending was going to be. And, what a ending it was!
Detective Jo Fournier gets drawn into murders that are personal to her. People she knows are being killed. But, why????
The story grabs you and doesn’t let you go. I can’t wait to see where the author takes Jo next.
M.M. Chouinard is a author that writes fast paced police procedurals. The Detective Jo Fournier series is one of my favorite series, Highly recommended author and series!

Great book!
Loved how it just flowed all the way through!
Great storyline and wonderful characters.
Josette Fournier & her partner Bob Arnett have just been given a new case and this one is personal. Who wanted the ADA dead? They know that they have their work out for especially that their boss is looking over their shoulder. Will they be able to find something that will point them in the right direction?
They have some suspects but nothing sticks and before they get anywhere a judge is murdered. They are running out of time to find the killer.
The killer isn’t making it easy for them as they aren’t finished yet. Will Jo & Bob figure it out before it is too late for another victim?
I like Jo as she has the same worries as us as we all want to be happy. She has alot going on at the moment but her focus is on the case. Her& Bob work well together as a team.
A good read. Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for the ARC copy. This is my voluntary review.
As things progress nicely in Jo’s private life she’s faced with a case that will cause her to question those who she holds dear. Another blistering good read in this excellent series with a brilliant twist
Early morning an assistant District Attorney is found dead at her home, murdered, and the next day a judge is found dead, both deaths have similarities. The race is on before someone else dies.
Once Detective Jo Fournier and her team start looking into the murder victims lives they find that they were not the necessary the people they thought they were. And as they did into the cases that connects them one of their own team is next in line to be targeted.
Book 6 is a great addition! Can’t wait to see what book 7 brings us.
A very interesting who killed them and why? A different plot than I've not read before. That in itself is a major change for me
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arc
My apologies in advance for this very confusing review. On one hand, I think this might be my favorite book in the series. Jo is in an uncomfortable position, having her boyfriend Matt finally move in with her. She is questioning the integrity of her long time partner Bob. And she is struggling with her new boss' insecurities. I liked all this! I loved all this! I was ready to give this 5 stars. I really liked the story of the serial killer hunting down members of the legal and law community. It reminded me of a previous book I had read with a similar theme. Then, I realized it was another book in this same series. It felt too similar and I felt cheated. It was almost like the idea was germinated at the same time as the books followed very similar paths. And while I can understand when there are similarities between different series, I was disappointed to find them within the same series. I still like the series. I love how Jo is evolving and still want to read more.
What They Saw by M.M. Chouinard is the six book in the brilliant Detective Jo Fournier series. This series has been a page turner from start to finish. This latest book was fast paced plot with lots of great twists and turns and I loved it.
I highly recommend all of M.M. Chouinard's books they will not disappoint.
Big Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the copy of What They Saw in exchange for a review.
4.25⭐
Detective Jo Fournier is back with another puzziling case to solve. When an ADA is gunned down early one morning and left posed and covered with a blindfold. And she's not the only one. As just days later a retired judge is bludgeoned to death and posed with a blindfold too.
But what could an ADA on the brink of early retirement and a judge already retired possibly have in common? And who could be next?
That is the question Jo and her partner Bob Arnett have to answer and quick. As they face increasing pressure from a boss, who is looking for any excuse to punish them. Especially Jo after her actions on the last case she worked.
Yet, with little to go on and a large pool of suspects. Jo and her team are stuck for answers. That is until a third person is murdered and an old case of Arnetts is brought to the fore.
But, as the murders continue Jo starts to worry their focus is all wrong. And that it's only a matter of time before the killer targets Arnett.
And with plenty of procedural detail, great twists and a killer I didn't expect. This was a very enjoyable read and it's one I would happily recommend to others.
would like to thank netgalley and the publishers for letting me read this book
as the body count rises jo fournier and her partner bob are working through the motives behind the killing of law inforcement personnel
what cold case have they all worked on that would bring them into the spotlight
a tense thriller that keeps you guessing right up the end
Another great read that had me racing through the pages.
Jo and Arnett are called out after a woman is found dead in the grounds of her property. She’s been shot but then a blindfold has been put on after the shooting.
The woman is known to the team and soon another murder takes place of someone else in law enforcement.
Jo and Arnett are unsure who the killer is at first but as the deaths build up they all seem linked to one case from the past.
We have chapters from the killer’s perspective but this is a clever crime thriller and one where I didn’t guess who the killer was.
A gripping crime thriller that I really enjoyed.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.
In the name if justice a perp is eliminating members Of the justice sector, unjustly.
Jo and Arnett are hot on the case, but Jo is getting mixed signals from her long time partner. Is he being entirely truthful with her? And why does she have a sticking feeling about Matt moving in?
I slid easily back into my usual position if perching over the shoulders of the detectives as they ground through the clues. I was at a loss for the identity of the perp until it was revealed toward the end. Then I smacked my head as if to say, of course, it was logical. My only excuse for not seeing it is due to my muddled brain this week.
I can’t wait to see what unfolds next for Jo in her world.
Fabulous read which I raced through to find out what happened next! This is the sixth installment of the Detective Jo Fournier series, and it is riveting, smart, and compelling. Looking forward to the next!
Many thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for this ARC!
Fantastic police procedural book. Not very knowledgeable of this author though I have come across the name before. Beautifully written with words that just flowed to bring you directly into the story itself.
Thanks to the author, the publisher and NetGalley for an early release of this book.
Firstly, I love Jo Fournier and after six books I feel I know her character well and I felt for her when she needed to make some difficult choices revolving around trust and vulnerability in this new case. They can be read out of order although I thoroughly recommend them in order to understand the relationships in her life. This one was fast paced, devious, and although I had the killer narrowed down to two people, I ended up choosing the wrong one. That to me is a five star book.bring on number seven, please!
It’s always a happy day for me when a new M M Chouinard comes out! I have a real girl crush on Jo and I love seeing where she is heading next! This wasn’t as gripping as her others and sometimes I had to go back to it, but it’s still outstanding, and she is still one of my fave authors around!
I will wait patiently (or not) for the next one - and am sure it will be just as spectacular!
Thank you NetGalley and Bookouture for the copy of What They Saw, which is book 6 in the Detective Jo Fournier series. I’m sad that I didn’t discover this series earlier because this book was great! I loved Jo and how her lifestyle change is affecting her life. Now I want to read the previous books to see what she was like and what happened to her before this book. The story was intriguing and I had no idea where it was going until the surprising end. I loved how the chapters were broken into each day of the investigation and gave immediacy to the story. I will be looking forward to reading more books in this series!
Entertaining and twisty, with really likable characters. I really enjoyed the depth of this story, from multiple perspectives. I liked seeing Jo’s reactions to having her boyfriend move in, and having to work through her emotions surrounding that change. As brutal the murders were (and the evolving backstory behind them), there is a lot of interesting discussion points about individuals motivations, the justice system, law enforcement, and laws in general. The mystery wasn’t entirely obvious, which made for some fun reading. The book was well written and enjoyable! Looking forward to reading more in the series. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to provide my honest review.
Detective Jo Fournier book 6.
When the body of a woman is discovered one morning in her garden, Jo is disturbed to find its an ADA she has worked with in the past. Is it related to her work as a prosecutor or something from her private life.
When the body of a Judge is found the next morning Jo knows someone is attacking people in the Justice system. Is she on the killer's radar?
A fast paced plot with lots of drama this book will have you hooked from the start. I didn't want to put it down.
This is the first book I've read from this author but it certainly won't be the last.
I highly recommend this book to all crime genre fans.
