Getting Even by Lisa Jackson is a re-release of two of her earlier novels combined for the first time in one volume. The stories being Yesterday’s Lies and Zachary’s Law were both published in 1986. While publish a long time ago both of these stories still fit in today’s society and were as much of a delight to read as the author’s current books. It was a treat to get both stories in one book and is worth considering just for value for money alone. Both stories are romantic suspense so will appeal to both lovers of romance and thrillers. Both stories are also not too long with the total page count around 500 pages. Both stories are real page-turners and will have you wanting to read it in one sitting just to find out what happens. I found the first story a little predictable but in no way did that take away from the enjoyment of reading. Thank you to Lisa Jackson, the publisher and Netgalley for the opportunity to read these incredible stories.
I will leave a review on Amazon and B&N on Feb 21st
Getting Even is a complation of two of Lisa Jackson's older books, that have been repackaged with new cover and title. I had not read these books previously so overall I was very happy to have the opportunity to read this book. The characters in both storylines were strong and very likeable. I would recommend this book to others.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and Kensington for free, I am leaving this review voluntarily and the opinion expressed here are my own.
This book is 2 older books reissued. Yesterdays Lies and Zacherys Law are entertaining enough but I was expecting a new story. The characters were relatable but some of their actions were reckless and annoyed me. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.
I've enjoyed books by this author in the past, but I've struggled a bit with the more recent ones. Sadly, I never connected with the characters in either of the stories, largely due to the fact they felt underdeveloped. Plot points were predictable, so I never really had a surprise twist. There were also numerous typos, but those will hopefully be corrected before publication.
Getting Even is two books, Zachary’s Law and Yesterdays Lies.
Yesterday’s Lies was a good read, but there was a lot of typos.
I really enjoyed Zachary’s Law, shows a mother will do anything for her kids.
The characters in both stories were strong and likeable.
Many thanks to Netgalley and Kensington for the opportunity to read and review this one.
Getting Even by Lisa Jackson
Fans of Lisa Jackson will be pleased to know that two of her books have just been republished under one cover. Zachary's Law and Yesterday's Lies were both published in 1986. The book Getting Even includes them.
It was interesting to read how Lisa Jackson has developed and grown as an author, as well as the different writing style from the 80's. Although they were not my favorite of her books, they are fascinating glimpses into the past. I am glad I got the chance to enjoy them. These previously out-of-print Lisa Jackson stories will make a nice addition to your collection.
Getting Revenge by Lisa Jackson is available on February 23rd.
Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Books for sharing these stories with me. Your kindness is appreciated!
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book i have read most of Lisa Jackson's books and this one did not disappoint. Two short stories about two women who are looking for a little redemption and need a little help doing so. This book was an enjoyable read.

Thanks to the publisher, author, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
Both of the stories included in this book had previously been published and I really hate that when an author does that, I will not be purchasing this book for this very reason.
Who doesn’t fantasize about a little payback? Revenge is a timeless, all-too-human desire, and it’s a common thread in Yesterday’s Lies and Zachary’s Law – two classic, fan-favorite novels by #1 New York Times bestselling author Lisa Jackson that are now available in one thrilling romantic suspense omnibus of revenge, obsession, and deception…
3 stars
Rumors? Revenge? Payback? Drama? This book has it all, put together in an incredible storyline. I was interested in all of the characters, who seemed real and believable. Thoroughly enjoyable!
I hate it when blurbs are misrepresenting books, like in this case where two old books are presented as a 2023 model. The writing is OK, but the characters and the plot are naive and not very interesting.
These are two older books written by Lisa Jackson, Yesterday’s Lies and Zachary’s Law. They were both quick reads at 12 chapters each. The first book is a romantic suspense. The second book is a romance with a mystery of where the woman’s ex-husband took her two small children. I enjoyed reading both books. You never go wrong with a Lisa Jackson book. I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced free copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. I received a copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
Please note, this is not a new novel! This is a repackaged, new cover, and title, omnibus, of two prior novels released by Jackson. The two prior novels are “Yesterday’s Lies” and “Zachary’s Law.” The theme of the novels is revenge, and how best served.
Unfortunately, had I known that, I would have passed. The two prior novels were lackluster, and cheesy. The stories were cookie cutter and the characters horrible.
In all honesty, I couldn’t stick with this. My reading time and enjoyment are valuable to me, and this was a waste of both.
Thanks to NetGalley and the Publisher for an eARC, in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.
Small towns, big ranches, complex mysteries, and oh so many secrets. Solid story of murder, betrayal, revenge, and clearing the past.
I love Lisa Jackson books and these two were no exception!
Both had great storylines and characters and merit me in the edge of my seat, racing to the end! Very enjoyable reads!
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the advanced copy of the book. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
Lauren's whole world collapsed the day that her ex husband Doug disappeared with their two children. She can't ever stop looking for them but everyone that she has hired hasn't made any progress. So when she is giving Zachary's name she is hopeful. But Zachary can't promise that he will be able to find them. But something about Lauren & her situation make him change his mind. Will he really be able to find them or will he also give her false hope.
As their relationship starts get more serious they are given some information that could help them to find the children. Is this just another false lead or will it actually be what Lauren has been hoping for?
Do they get their happy everafter?
Great characters, good storyline and an enjoyable read.
What I liked about Lauren is that she never gave up no matter how many times she was given bad news she just picked herself up and carried on. Zachary is a genuine guy that falls in !I've and after what he went through he was still willing to open himself up again. They make a good couple.
Thank you Netgalley & the publisher for the ARC copy. This is my voluntary review.
Jackson’s newest novel is a great paced, tightly plotted thriller with so many twisty turns!
Getting Even kept me on my toes the whole time I was reading it and trying to guess the twisty ending of how this story was going to end!
The cast is memorable and vivid, the plot is gripping. It kept me reading so that's a plus.
The story is fascinating and the writing is wonderful and suspenseful.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."

Given ARC by Net Galley and Kensington for my voluntary review and my honest opinion
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this eARC in exchange for an honest review.
The characters felt really bland and cookie-cutter. I didn't feel connected to any of them.
I was really bored with the plotline and story. I had a lot of trouble getting into it.
Two books in one by one of my favorite authors…Although some of the scenes could be left out, the mysteries are the type that are difficult to put down. Red herrings…secrets…friendships…family…revenge…love and romance…these themes run throughout this book. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review.
