I like Janet Dailey books for the most part. This story started off slow for me and I was tempted to not keep reading. I will say it did improve and by the end I was interested and liked it. It definitely brought back fond memories of my family outings to the local drive in theater.
I will leave my review on April 25 on Amazon and B&N
Blue Moon Haven is the seventh book in the New Americana series. Kelly is in way over her head, attempting too raise her best friends two children after she is name their guardian and their father doesn't want them. Packing up what little bit they have she moves them to a small rural town in Alabama to become the assistant manager at a drive-in. When she arrives there things are not what she expected, and she realizes that she may have bitten off more than she could handle. What follows is a enjoyable read, that shows the love of a mother that isn't actually a mom what lenghts she will go through to provide a home and living for her children. I would recommend this book to others.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and Zebra Books, I am leaving my review voluntarily and the opinion expressed here are my own.
Blue Moon Haven is where Kelly goes to live after being in Birmingham and things did not hold what she wanted it to have for her life. She has her friend’s children living with her after she passes away and their dad decides that he just can’t handle the loss and raising the children alone. Leaving them with Kelly is what he does.
After accepting a job in Blue Moon Haven Kelly isn’t sure she can make things happen the way they should. Mae Bell Larkin has given the assistant manager position at the Blue Moon Haven Drive-in to Kelly.
The drive-in is more run down than expected.
Seth is her neighbor and they do not hit it off when they first meet. It takes several situations until he is comfortable with them as neighbors.
Blue Moon Haven is part of the New Americana series. It can be read as a standalone.
Thank you NetGalley, Janet Dailey and Kensington Books for the ARC of Blue Moon Haven. This is my personal review.
Blue Moon Haven by Janet Dailey. An enjoyable story and addition to the New Americana series. The story can be read as a standalone. I enjoyed the storyline, the setting and especially the characters.
Thirty-four-year-old Kelly heads to Blue Moon Haven, Alabama, with seventy-one dollars in her pocket and two abandoned siblings.
Ten-year-old Todd Campbell, and six-year-old Daisy, children of her best friend Laice who passed away a year ago. Three months after her passing, their father dropped them off at Kelly’s doorstep and took off.
Kelly was living in Birmingham and things weren’t working out so she took this job.
Two weeks ago she emailed Mae Bell Larkin, owner of the Blue Moon Haven Drive-In, and accepted an assistant manager position.
When the job offer came with a home, she did not expect that the Drive-in would be run-down and neglected.
Fortunately, the trailer where she’d be living is in perfect condition 🏠
Beautifully written book set in a rural town and full of warm characters.
Thank you to Janet Dailey, NetGalley, and Kensington Books– Zebra for the arc of this book.
A light summer read that will bring hope to your heart. Kelly is doing a lifelong favor to her friend that passed away and asked her to be secondary caregiver to her two children, Todd and Daisy. In pursuit of a decent job and great location Kelly land in Blue Moon, AL and meets a Mae Bell that gives her new hope. Kelly also meets Seth whom she gives new hope to, a novel of hope and well being.. It is a romantic feel good book that brings, hope, a sense of family as well as the importance of working together to fulfill dreams. I really enjoyed the lightness of the book and the story line. The only thing I would say that was a bit unbelievable is how the characters seem to change their minds and direction so quickly, literally like over night which is a bit unbelievable. I did like the multi generational aspect and of course the vintage trailer and the Drive IN.
Thank you to Kensington Books/Zebra as well as NetGalley and Janet Dailey.
This is the 7th book of New Americana series, it can be read as stand alone. My first in this series and this book is good and heartwarmer. I really like this book, small town romance.
Kelly live change when she become guardian of two children Todd and Daisy. To make better change and heal their grief, Kelly move to small town. Here she get new job in drive in cinema and meet Seth. They first encounter was blast and chaos. From there story begin.
I love how Kelly not easy to give up, much time she dont know what to do but eager to make better life for both kids. She so optimistic, full of hope, enthusiastic. Seth who bitter from his divorce and lost of child, dosnt like Kelly because she intrude his solitude isolation. Slowly he turn off his guard, spend more time with three of them, helping restore drive in, open up about his wound and fall for Kelly.
Thank you to NetGalley for provide this book, it is pleasure to review this book.

I loved this story about Kelley who took care of best friend that died of cancer as Zane, the father, dropped them off at her house and left them. Her best friend, wanted her to take them. She applied for jobs but got only one call back in Blue Moon Haven and it was to reopen the Blue Moon Haven Drive-In. This is about putting your mind to doing something and getting it done. Kelley did it well. Her boss Mae Bell had everything ready for her as she was living in a nursing home type place nearby. She has a neighbor, Seth and they get off to a rocky start. See how the children begin to adjust . Does the drive-in reopen and does she and Seth become friends. Do the children children stay or does Zack come back for them. A VERY GOOD READ.
I’m always happy when I read the first few pages of the new Janet Dailey books and find that the writing is at least on par with what I remember of my long-time favourite author’s. The first few chapters were a joy to read.
Sadly, my interest started to wane after that. Maybe the story needed something a bit stronger to hold it together other than an outdoor theatre. The romance was okay but was not that convincing.
I have high hopes for this writer though and hope he or she continues to write.
3 and a half stars for me.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Kelly accepts a new job in Alabama which makes her second guess her decision. She also has two kids that she is taking care of. While in town she meets Seth who opens up his home to them. This was an enjoyable read.
After her best friend passes from cancer, Kelly Jenkins takes responsibility for her two children after their father can’t. She’s looking for somewhere they can bond and heal themselves when she accepts a job renovating a small-town dilapidated drive-in theater. Her new neighbor Seth is dealing with his own losses and resents her intrusion into his life. But with the help of some older townspeople, Kelly and Seth end up working together. But is that enough to heal their hearts?
A sweet, short story that will warm your heart. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an early copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
First, of course, let’s realize once again that all current stories and books are a collective effort of writers working diligently to finish manuscripts and notes left behind after the passing of Janet Dailey. I can assure you I’m just as surprised at the number and quality of these new publications. Loved everything in Janet Dailey long list of books. Her characters and families are a treasured memory. So somewhat reluctantly I decided to give these new books a shot. Kind of a thank you to a treasured author.
And that’s how I wound up reading BLUE MOON HAVEN and found myself smiling and savoring these new characters I was meeting. I’m already trying to see if I have figured out a favorite. That’s going to be difficult, I can admit from the very start.
And so it begins. Prophetic and wondrous words from a wise woman, spoken at the very beginning of this tale about hope and love. Revising old memories and making new ones - seemed to be the ongoing theme of a fabulous story with some of the best characters and dialog. Thanks to the team publishing these books under the name of Janet Dailey.
The list of wonderful, endearing and at time exasperated characters is way too long. But there are some that deserve mention. Kelly who takes on the responsibility for her best friends two children Daisy and Todd. Todd who is incredibly smart and intuitive and guarded in his acceptance of caring. Daisy who seems more comfortable hidden in her small intimate shell and as guarded as Todd. Seth who has built a wall around himself and his heart. Losing his young daughter and the life he had envisioned erected a seemingly impenetrable wall. These four-need help in getting to a place in their lives where there is room for love and belonging. Can’t think of a better one than BLUE MOON HAVEN.
Janet Dailey takes us to Blue Moon, Alabama where Kelly and her best friend's children left in her care after her death have settled. Kelly takes a chance on reviving the old drive in. What she did not count on was her neighbor Seth who is still mourning the death of his daughter and has been wanting the land the drive in sits on to add to his property. What started out as hostility and wariness between Kelly and Seth slowly turns around as Seth offers to help Kelly and the children renovate the drive in. As they become part of the community, setbacks and the resurface of a familiar face threatens to burst their bubble they spent so long in creating for the children. Will they be able to get the drive in set up and be able to make a profit? Will Seth and Kelly get past their own insecurities and their past so they can move forward with each other?
Janet Dailey brings us a story about family and love. She shows us how much a parent will endure and take on so that the children in her care feel safe and cared for all the while trying to figure out where she belongs in the new life she has created for them. Throw in some romance and light hearted humor and this is a story that you will enjoy and want to see what happens next for our little family.

Thanks to # netgalley for my advance copy of this wonderful book. We meet Kelly who is guardian for her best friend’s two children when their mom dies, and their father abandons them on her doorstep. She has taken a job to restore the old drive-in. The drive in is in worse condition then what she was lead to believe. She then meets her neighbor, Seth. He is fighting the pain of his past. This was a cute story, with fairly well developed characters and easy to keep up with. It’s true life with hardships, love, loss and family.

3 1/2 stars.
This was a good book for anyone looking for a small town romance with low angst.
I loved the characters but would have liked a bit more depth.
If small town romances are your thing you’ll no doubt love it.
Blue Moon Haven by Janet Dailey. Latest addition to the New Americana Series continues with a good old fashion HEA romance. After a rocky start, Seth and Kelly are a perfect couple. Friends, neighbors, townspeople and family all work together to restore an abandoned drive in movie theater. A quick and fun read.
Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the opportunity to preview the book
Kelly Jenkins is one tough cookie! Not only is she raising the kids of her best friend that passed away, but she also answers an online add for a better job - site unseen. Obstacles galore stand in her way but she has determination and spunk. Some of those obstacles will bring her to her knees but she never gives up. This has grit, heartbreak and hope all wrapped up in one fabulous story. I am never disappointed with a book by Janet Dailey. 5 Stars!!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Kensington Books for this advanced review copy. In return, I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review. All opinions and thoughts are my own.
