This is a Cozy Mystery, and this is the third book in A Full Moon Mystery series. I loved the characters in this book. My biggest problem with this book is the magic and the fact she was a witch was being pushed down your throat every second, and I was sick of hearing about it. I also just wanted to get to the mystery part, but it was so slow moving that I got to 20% and the mystery was still not really there. I received an ARC of this book. This review is my own honest opinion about the book like all my reviews are.
Witch Way Out by Cate Conte is book #3 in the Full Moon Cozy Mystery series. I think it would be nice if I could just wish for a cup of coffee and one appears. These witches have it good. Well, maybe not so good as two have been genied. That means being transported and trapped in a bottle. But Violet Moone, who has just recently discovered that she's a witch, is on the case.I love all the magic in this story. It's been quite interesting following along as Violet leans magic. I really like Violet. She is a caring, determined, honest witch. All the major characters in this story are likable. Except for the bad guys, You'll have to read the book to find out just who is good and who is bad. I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I was hoping for a cozy mystery, but this is more like teen fantasy.
Poof! now I'm here...poof! now I disappear...into a cloud of glitter.
A magical realm running parallel to the mortal world.
Not my thing, gave up after 20%.
Thank you Netgalley and Kensington Books for the ARC.
Witch Way Out is a cute paranormal cozy mystery. The main character, Violet, is very likeable. She’s an optimist and a bit naïve, which makes you root for her as she’s trying to learn more about her new powers. She tries to help everyone she meets. The mystery is a good one, with lots of suspects and twists. Violet’s mother, Fiona, is really cool. If you like a little paranormal in your cozy mystery books, you’ll like this book (and series). There is a bit of romance as well.
Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Books/Cozies for the opportunity to read this book. I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion. I will post this review to my blog, Goodreads, Bookbub, & Amazon accounts on the publication date, 3-28-23.
I’m a sucker for paranormal cozies and this third book in the series has cemented it as one of my top five!
A spellbinding story and entertaining characters that I look forward to reading more about.
I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
Violet's crystal shop has been selected to be a vendor at the spring equinox fair. Violet's hero in the crystal world is one of the co-chairs of the fair, Horatio Hale. She has a chance to meet with him but instead she finds his dead body.
Things are happening in the witch realm. Blake tries to introduce Violet to Mac, the leprechaun. But when they show up at his office, they find he's been genie'd. They need to figure out who's behind the genie'ing.
This book was so good. Once I read the first two books in the series. I loved following the actual mysteries in both realms. Also following all the clues and figuring out who the bad guys were. I'm hoping there's more on this awesome series.
If you are looking for a mystery read with a magical twist then you should check out Witch Way Out.
This book is a lot of fun. It was my first cozy, magical mystery read, and I really enjoyed it. I definitely would read more of these types of books in the future. This is the third book in the series, and I recommend reading the previous two books before diving into this book. I hadn’t realized that this book was a part of a series, and I think it really hindered my enjoyment. Cate does a good job of bringing her readers up to speed, but I felt like I was missing “world” information while reading this book, which left me confused at times.
I liked both the magical world that Cate has created in this book. It is really interesting, and I like how she puts her own unique touches on how witches live in our world. The mystery element in this story is well thought out and provides plenty of entertainment that captured my attention. It had me guessing until the very end. Violet is a likeable and smart character. I enjoyed spending time with her and would like to read the series' previous two books to get to know her better.
Witch Way Out really is a fun witchy mystery read.
Setting the Scene: Violet Mooney is still struggling with her new-found status as a witch, not to mention a supposed powerful witch, and then there is her lying boyfriend and another genied magickal being - and not just any magickal being, but a very savvy leprechaun PI. On the brighter side, Vi has won a coveted booth at the Spring Equinox Fair, co-hosted by the legendary Horatio Hale. What a break, until she finds Horatio dead. With both magickal and mortal crimes laid at her metaphorical door, more enemies than friends on the Magickal Council, and the threat of a magickal war on the horizon, Vi has her work cut out for her. Nothing is as it seems. Those she can trust are in short supply, and Vi is in for even more revelations.
What I Thought: Great Read! Yes, I loved it, and this series, to date. Cate Conte does a marvelous job of world building and character development. Violet, Josie, Sydney, Pete, and Blake are all wonderfully relatable characters, and Fiona and Zoe, among others, provide the quirk. Mac and Solomon were great additions. Although Violet is new to the magickal world and her powers, she does not just sit on her proverbial tush and wait for others. Okay, she has done some of that, but after being kept in the dark about it her entire life, she is entitled to a certain learning curve. That does not stop her from doing what she can to see that justice is done in both her worlds, the magickal and mortal. This book opens up a whole new realm of possibilities for Violet and others, and I highly recommend that you start at Book 1 and continue through this coming release. You will not be disappointed.
Loved this book! This was the perfect book to read when I was snowed in! Read it today! You will not be disappointed!
Witch Way Out by Cate Conte is the third in the Full Moon Mystery series. Violet is still exploring her newfound powers, and is a bit insecure about all that entails. Things start to fall apart when she is at the scene of another genieing and her boyfriend Todd also disappears. Then her magical and mortal worlds collide when there is a murder at a fair where she is vending. Violet needs to solve the murder and figure out who is behind the genieing before it’s too late.
Suspects abound in this mystery, including the members of this Magickal Council. Not everyone is who or what they appear to be in this complex and twisty tale. I love the supporting characters, especially Syd and Pete who stick with Violet no matter what. And, of course, the romantic in me is rooting for Violet and Blake to give in to their chemistry. The first part of the book was a bit slow, weighed down by detail. However by the halfway point, I could hardly put the book down. (I reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.) This is a delightful and fun series that has me hooked.
I was glad to read this new instalment in this series. The characters and the world building are as well done as usual and the solid mystery kept me guessing.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine
This was a really fun interesting, cozy mystery novel.. it’s the first witchy book I’ve read, but it makes me want to read so much more. I like the way her being a witch tied into the story, and how the fantasy element was used in this.
Witch Way Out is book #3 in the A Full Moon Mystery series by Cate Conte. The main character is named Violet Mooney and she owns a crystal shop. She recently found out that she's a witch and is adjusting to her new lifestyle and newfound abilities.
When she is accepted at the last minute into a local craft show, she's beyond excited. It's a week long event that could do wonders in free marketing and advertising for her business. It also gives her the chance to network with a bunch of other crystal enthusiasts.
But what starts out as a fun event takes a turn for the worse when the main organizer of the event is found murdered. Not only that, but Violet is the one to find him. She finds herself wrapped up in a murder case and no one is innocent until proven so... not witches, and certainly not mortals.
I liked Violet right off the bat. She's so innocent, really. She's just trying to learn as much as she can about her family and her ancestors and her fellow witch population. Meanwhile, she has a business to maintain as well as her relationships with her friends/employees, Syd and Josie. She has a lot on her plate.
I'm new to this series and haven't read the first two books in the series, but I'm hoping to read them soon! I found Violet's mother fascinating and want to find out more about Fiona and the witch community that she's in charge of. It's so funny to me that Violet grew up not knowing her mother or her true heritage. It's clear that she has a lot of catching up to do.
I liked Cate Conte's writing style. The story flows well and as each chapter unfolded, I couldn't wait to find out what happened next. Becauase of the paranormal aspect to this story, it really kept me guessing. I had not idea what was going to happen!
If you're new to this series like I am, I think you'll like it. The story is easy to dive into and the characters make you want to stick around and find out what happens next. Thank you to Netgalley and Kensington for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
A wonderful witchy world awaits in this series, and this is a fun and entertaining addition to it. Looking forward to more in the future.
Thank you NetGalley, the author and the publisher for sharing an digital ARC with me in exchange for an honest review.
Witch way out By Cate Conte revolves around Violet Mooney, a witch who owns the crystal shop The Full Moon. The shop got selected as a vendor at the Spring Equinox Fair, where a murder happens. Violet finds the victim and starts to investigate.
This book is a cozy murder mystery novell with a ton of witches. Is there something that could be even more perfect for a moody read on a day in December? The story was conducted amazing and all the questions I had over the length of the story got answered. The characters are very likeable as well as the magic world that got established. I only can recommend this little cozy masterpiece.
I just finished this book, and I loved how it ended. We get our answers for a lot of questions that have been raised in the previous books, so I’m glad about that. Add to that an interesting mystery from a murder related to Violet’s job. She’s attending a fair, and one of the organizers is killed. She just needs to figure out if she’s one of the reasons why. This feels like the last book in the series, and I’m hoping that this won’t be the last of Violet, Blake, Syd…oh, just all of them. They are such a fun cast of characters. This is a fun cozy mystery, and I hope there’s more to come. Highly recommend. I was provided a complimentary copy which I voluntarily reviewed.
Describing this one as charmed meets murder she wrote was a good fit. I enjoyed reading this one even though I've never been fan of charmed. But the mystery aspect is what drew me in.
A fun new novel with a bit of magic. A hero dead? What about the other odd happenings?
Thank you netgalley and the publisher for this arc
Thank you to the publisher for allowing me to read this eARC!
I love a fun and cute witchy story! I loved Violet as a character! I would have liked a little more detail so I could feel like I was in that space with the characters a little more, but overall, this was a cozy and enjoyable read.
This was a fun read for me. I enjoyed the characters and I thought the story was fantastic! Can't wait to read more by this author!
