A Flicker of a Doubt was a good read. I have read this series from the beginning. It takes place in the town of
Carmel by the Sea. It is a town with fairies living there. Courtney Kelly is the main character along with the other characters from the first book. The supporting characters add to the story. Courtney is the owner of the store Your Imagination Fairy Garden Shop. Courtney shares the shop with her fairy, Floria. Meaghan Brownie,, her best friend is the owner of Flair Art Gallery.

Violet who is visiting the shop when Nicholas Buley storms into the shop to speak to her about the fact that Hunter Holt was also showing his art at the Theatre Foundation Tea. She informs him that there will be other artists also showing their art. Violet tells Charlotte that Nicholas has a bad temper, He also goes into The Flair and also makes a scene. Hunter Holt is also at the shop. Nicholas goes after Hunter hitting him in the face. Hunter goes after him. Ziggy, manager of the Flair throws them both out.

While working in her home greenhouse Courtney wants to discuss with Floria about her relationship with Aurora, queen of the fairies. She tells her that Aurora is her mother. Merriweather is her aunt. She will one day will be queen. She is a righteous fairy at this time.

Charlotte is at Violet's house in her garden listening to Sassy Jacobi playing her guitar . She will be playing at the party. Violet tells Charlotte that Nicholas is in a relationship with Sassy. She is the reason Nicholas is back in the area. Payton Buley, Nicholas's brother storms into the garden saying that Nicholas owes him money and wanted Nicholas to pay him back. Addie Tan is also involved with Nicholas. Sassy and Addie have both been seen fighting with him. Does he have something on them?

Ziggy is looking for Meaghan and tells Charlotte that he is at her house and has found Nicholas dead. Says that he has been murdered. He had come to the shop and had words with Meaghan. The police are called. Detective Dylan Summers and Officer Redcliff arrive. Courtney calls Meaghan and tells her about Nicholas. She is at her mother's house along with her fairy, Calliope.

They go to Meaghan's mother, Wanda's house to question her. She tells them that after she left her shop around 4 she went to her mother's house to think about her future. She had been involved with Nicholas but broke up, After interviewing her they are satisfied with her alibi.

Violet has invited lots of artists and celebrity to her affair. One is actor, George Pitt whose wife, Finley is Brady's ex-wife. Brady, owner of a restaurant is Charlotte's boyfriend. While Meaghan is at Charlotte's shop Glida Gill, owner of a jewelry store comes and tells them that Ziggy has been arrested. The police had found many of Nicholas's paintings in his house in a closet.

There is so much that people are saying and woman involved with and about Nicholas, etc. that I can't describe everything. I will leave this to the reader to find out. Meaghan finds out that she was not the only woman that he was involved with. Charlotte finds out that Hunter's niece, Kaylene Hamilton was involved with Nicholas and was found dead supposedly a suicide. Charlotte has Ulani Kamake, reporter for The Carmel Pine Cone to look into her death. While picking some pots up from the pottery store Charlotte finds out that Renee has been called by Detective Summer to go to Payton's house as he was found dead. Payton left a note that he was embezzling money from his work. Had a gambling problem and was in debt. Both brother's are now dead.

So much is going on towards the end of the story that builds up to an exciting climax involving Charlotte, Meaghan and Hunter. Charlotte goes to the foundation tea. The party was a huge success. Nicholas and Hunter's paintings were sold along with all the other artists painting. Brady catered the party. After he comes to Charlotte's house for a light supper. They both said that they had more business now then they could have. Fiona tells Charlotte that there is a portal on the bottom of a tree in the yard. Fiona goes to the portal and it lights up and she goes into the portal.

I really enjoyed this story. It leaves the reader wondering about Fiona after she goes into the portal. What next adventure will Charlotte and her friends get into. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington Publishing Corp. for this ARC.

A Flicker of a Doubt is the fourth title in Daryl Wood Gerber's Fairy Garden Mystery Series. Courtney Kelly, the owner of Open Your Imagination, a fairy garden shop in Carmel -by-the-Sea, is busy with store activities as well as finishing large fairy garden pots and centerpieces for the Mother's Day Theater Foundation Tea/art show and sale at the lavish home of wealthy Violet Vickers. Courtney's day becomes more complex when her BFF Meaghan Brownie comes into the shop frantic because her ex, moody and volatile artist, Nicolas Buley is back in Carmel and wants to rekindle their relationship. Courtney and her righteous fairy Fiona work together to calm down Meaghan and send her back to her shop, where more turmoil ensues when Nicolas shows up looking for her. When Nicolas is murdered it takes all of Courtney and Fiona's sleuthing and fairy skills to clear Meaghan and her business partner, Ziggy Foxx as suspects. A second murder, delicious dining, another ex, a growing romance and surprising revelations about Fiona's past and family as well as insights to her future become good merger of mystery and fairy fantasy in this well written story that leaves the reader looking towards book five. This series keeps getting better and better. I'm not sure this can be read as a standalone, although the author does do a great job recapping so you understand what and why something is happening.

We learn so much more about Fiona and the other fairies in this book that the ending makes me curious as to what the next book will bring.

This series is my happy place! I love being transported to Carmel - by - the - Sea and the magic that surrounds it.
Hopefully, we can get more insight into the fairy world soon.

Thanks #NetGalley #KensingtonCozies #DarylWoodGerber for letting me read this book for my honest review.

Daryl Wood Gerber always delivers a superb story, fun characters, and a memorable setting in her books. In A Flicker of a Doubt, the latest book in her Fairy Garden Mysteries, readers are treated to a murder in the art scene, where a not-so-very-nice artist is murdered by someone with a grudge. Weaving in beautiful magic and clever plot twists, Gerber packs a lot of punch into this installment, and each time we meet Fiona, the protagonist's fairy, we learn more about her backstory. How fun to find out her connections to others in the book. I recommend the series and look forward to the next release.
