I’ve read a few of these series and this one was sort of wild for me. There were a lot of moving parts and several different bad guys so I was overwhelmed. I do love Miracle Springs and those that live there. I’m just not sure why this one was just okay for me this time. Perhaps because it took me awhile to get into it.

Thank you so much for being approved by Kensington Books and NetGalley to read and review this book.

Paper Cuts is book 6 in The Secret, Book and Scone Society series!!

It is always great to meet up with friends from previous books - Nora, June, Estella and Hester live in a little place called Miracle Springs!! It is so lovely to have strong female characters that are a force to be reckoned with!!

Nora is fighting on all fronts and eventually succeeds with the help of her friends and the sheriff's department in unravelling the mystery of a murder victim and reasons for the death.

This was a fantastic read from start to finish, with so many plot twists and turns, that the ending will have you gasp!!!! All in all, this is a book that I will recommend without giving out too many spoilers, lol!!

This is a solid series that I've enjoyed from book 1, a bit like comfort food. I was pleased to get this title from NetGalley as I was traveling over the holidays and books like this from Ellery Adams are perfect travel companions.
In this return to Miracle Springs we get hit with blasts from Nora's past - the one she tried to leave far behind, to forget. Hurtful but perhaps cathartic, like all of the crises in this series, the S,B&S Society comes together and lends support. Other story lines evolve but if you pick up a book out of series order I don't think you'd be hopelessly lost, Adams does a fine job of (brief) rehashing plotline and past experiences even in conversations.
I've suggested this series to several friends and will continue to follow the thrilling adventures in the next book!

A return to Miracle Springs always brings an adventure, and this time it's Nora's past. Wonderful, caring characters and charming setting and well crafted. Definitely recommended.

I love this Secret, Book & Scone Society series. After every new book I say it’s the best one yet. I would love to visit Nora’s book store, Miracle Books, and get to know her, along with all the other characters in the series. And I definitely have to meet her love interest Sheriff McCabe. All the citizens of Miracle Springs are friendly and helpful and they feel like my friends. I like that this book talked about Asperger’s, a form of autism, and provided insight through a young boy. I received an arc of this book from NetGalley and the publisher. All opinions expressed are my own.

Thanks to Kensington Books and NetGalley for the Automatic Approval of PAPER CUTS.

Always love mysteries by Ellery Adams, though this was the saddest book I ever read.

The first murder victim is dying of cancer and is murdered, which means that the victim never has a chance of the few remaining months left.

Already suspected who the killer was early on. Usually there is One despicable character and this time there were several characters that I greatly disliked!

In this story, Nora is confronted by her dark past in the form of her ex husband Larry who brings out the worst in everyone he meets. A woman and her child are visiting Nora's bookstore when she introduces herself to Nora as the other woman. It turns out that Larry eventually left her and their child.

In the midst of Nora trying to solve the murders, there is a battle of two groups who want to build a casino. And there is a house break in!

There is a new deputy in town who really hates women and Nora is trying to deal with this!

A must read Series. Good story telling with a mystery thrown in. That is what this series is about, and honestly any of the over 30 mysteries and ongoing series written by Ellery Adams.

This series is not your typical Cozy. It is so much more. Set in North Carolina, The Secret, Book & Scone Society series, introduces us to Nora Pennington and her group of book club friends. A tight group of fierce women, each flawed but beautiful and courageous. as they protect one another while solving mysteries. Nora is a bookshop owner, who moved to North Carolina after a messy divorce and burned scars from an accident she caused while drinking. Each woman has their own secret, which they share and help each other heal.

This book, Paper Cuts, gives us more background into Nora, and ultimately a resolution to her past. The murder victim in the book is Kelly, her ex-husband's mistress, who he has abandoned with a special needs child. Kelly is ill and all she wants before dying is to make amends to Nora and be able to have peace.

We also get more information about Estella - her father is getting released from prison, and Hester is taking it very slowly in her engagement.

The friends come together to clear Nora, as she becomes the main suspect in Kelly's death. Lots of twists and turns, but as with all the Ellery Adams books I've read, a nice conclusion, with justice meted out.

Thank you NetGalley and Kensington for allowing me to review this book.

I love returning to Miracle Springs and the Secret, Book, & Scone Society for more adventures. They feel like home and like a safe place. Except Nora inadvertently gets herself into hot water this time, and it is up to the Secret, Book, & Scone Society to help her, along with the Sheriff. This is another must read, bingeworthy book by the wonderful Ellery Adams.

Nora Pennington and the rest of the Secret, Book, and Scone Society members all have troubled pasts but have worked hard to move on from those pasts and build new lives. But Nora discovers she can’t completely escape her past – when someone from her past is murdered she finds herself the chief suspect in the murder. Nora wants desperately to clear her name but she has to deal with a member of the police department who seems determined to see Nora behind bars.

“Paper Cuts” is the nicely done sixth book in Ellery Adams’ Secret, Book, and Scone Society mystery series. While this book can easily be read as a stand-alone book, I suggest starting this series from the beginning if you haven’t already so you can see how the characters have grown over the course of the series. Nora and her friends are good but deeply flawed characters – which makes them realistic – Nora is especially flawed. Her past is not pretty and she literally bears the scars from that past. She can be prickly at times but when she cares, she deeply cares and will do anything for those she cares about. I love her bookstore – Adams clearly loves books and it shows in this one. The mystery isn’t one of those where you follow the clues and try to guess whodunit – instead just sit back and enjoy the ride as the story unfolds.

“Paper Cuts” is a nicely done mystery.

@elleryadams, Book 6 of The Secret Book and Scone Society, is a nail-biter. The main character, Nora, is accused of murder. Can The Secret Book and Scone Society help clear her name? Will Nora's Sheriff boyfriend turn on her? Who is this new female deputy who is getting a bit too close to Nora's man? What are the possibilities that an ex-wife of Nora's ex-husband came to find her only to end up DEAD!?

Don't worry, you still will feel all cozy and at home with all the familiar characters.

I gave this 5 stars because I think this is one of the best books in the series to date.

I don't want to talk about the good stuff. The more I talk, the less fun YOU will have reading the next adventure of The Secret Book and Scone Society.

Thank you @netgalley and @kensingtonbooks for the Advanced Review Copy of one of my favorite mystery series.

Nora, Hester, June and Estella are back in the sixth book of the Secret, Book and Scone Society. These "kick-ass women with hearts of gold" continue to face up to their past secrets, while spreading kindness and bibliotherapy to Miracle Springs. This cozy mystery is a book lovers dream and will add to your TBR list with all of the books that are mentioned. (There is a convenient list of some of the books at the end).
Paper Cuts brings entertainment, twists and humor along with hope and new beginnings as these women face serious issues, both past and present. Several new characters are introduced that hopefully will become permanent residents of Miracle Springs.

I adored this book! Many of the storylines are continued from previous books in this series, so strongly recommend reading these books in order. Thanks to NetGalley and Kensington Books for an advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

What would you do if you met the person who caused you the greatest pain in your life? Would you scream at them? Would you run away? Nora Pennington has the opportunity to do any of those when she meets Kelly, the woman who broke up her marriage and led to the accident that changed Nora's life forever.. A confrontation occurs and Nora shoves Kelly. Later, Kelly is found murdered and Nora finds herself a suspect. With the help of her friends, Nora struggles to clear her name and find justice for Kelly.

As always books by Ellery Adams have characters that have deep emotions, opinions and are so "real" they "jump"off the page. This book is no different and I loved the way the author wove several mysteries together, without any of them being less important than the other.

Nora and Ellery Adams never disappoint mystery readers and this book will keep you reading, guessing and maybe shedding a tear or two.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and the opinions expressed in this review are my own.

This series has quickly become one of my favorites. You can start with any one, because there’s always a quick rundown of the basics.

The mystery in this one was a bit of a hodgepodge of things and because of that seemed a bit crowded. It’s still an excellent story and I really hope to see more of Davis and Tucker. There’s a lot more alcohol drinking by Nora, which seemed odd and very wrong at one specific point, but I’ll chalk it up to her growing more comfortable in her skin.

The list of books at the end that “Nora” has recommended at the store is so helpful and I usually find a few winners in every one.

This is the perfect cozy, friends, books, food, and growth. You don’t usually get a lot of personal growth in cozies and I didn’t realize how much it improves a book.

Read all of this series, but if you want to start with this one, you’ll probably end up reading them all. Such a great series, book, author.

Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC!

4.25/5

The coziest mystery series. Every time I read one of these books, it feels like sitting in front of a fire with a sweater on.

When Nora’s past walks into her new life, things take a turn for the unexpected. Finding forgiveness for the person who caused her hurt in the past, Nora and the women of Miracle Springs face off on yet another mystery.

The night of her car crash that changed her life. She confronted the woman who was having an affair with her then husband. That woman is Kelly who has come to Miracle Springs looking for a miracle. She has cancer and not much longer to live. She has a little boy Tucker who is autistic. Kelly tells Nora how they know each other and Nora flips out and tries to runaway. Kelly tries to stop her and Nora pushes her away. Then Kelly's body is found and Nora is the prime suspect. The secret book society must help to find the real killer.

This book was so good. I was hooked from the first page. It has been a few months since I read the series but the author does a smashing job giving backstory. I was able to catch up and remember what happened previously.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced reader copy of the latest in the Secret, Book, and Scone Society series of cozy mysteries. As someone who loves a well-written cozy, I am always eager to read Ellery Adams' books because they just get better and better. Nora, the main character, finally seems to feel at peace with her life and her past transgressions and has really settled in to Miracle Springs. However, we all know that the past doesn't always stay in the past, and when her ex-husband's second wife is murdered shortly after moving to Nora's town--and after a heated encounter with Nora--the Society has to work fast to clear Nora's name. This book has all of the hallmarks of a cozy mystery, but it also has a deeper side that discusses trauma in a really refreshing way. A must read!

Nora is finally at peace with her past, has a bright future, and of course, the past has a way of sneaking up on her! Her ex-husband's second wife is murdered shortly after moving to the area and Nora is suspect #1 according to Deputy Hollowell. With help from her book sisters (& Shelton!), plus a few more, Nora is able to be cleared of the false accusations. But who was the killer and why? Read Paper Cuts to find out!
Thanks again to NetGalley, Kensington Books, and Ms Adams for the chance to pre-read this great cozy mystery series in exchange for an honest review. Looking forward to the next installment!
