Nash somehow ropes Helen into a horse competition but the issue is after an accident Helen is terrified to ride horses. As they work together to help Helen work through her fear of riding horses it seems old feelings are arising once again.
I really enjoyed this book it was pretty light-hearted if anything wasn't too much drama going on. I enjoyed seeing how things played out and getting to know the characters and why they made certain choices that they did. This was overall with pretty good book I enjoyed it,
This is a good book. The two main characters are Helen and Nash. Helen is a fairer, mother to a five year old, and Nash’s ex wife. Nash is a horse trainer. They have divorced but still love each other. Nash’s family is about to lose the ranch, the bank is foreclosing. They have to raise money to stop the foreclosure. They each have issues but together they reclaim their love.
Best-selling author Melinda Curtis sprinkles hope, humor and heart in the final book in The Blackwells of Eagle Springs continuity, Wyoming Christmas Reunion.
Helen Blackwell is still head over heels in love with her husband, Nash – even though they are divorced. Nash’s problems with alcohol had driven a wedge between them and Helen had been left with no other choice but to make the heart-wrenching decision of leaving her husband. As the two of them have an adorable five-year-old son, they are still a part of one another’s lives and even though Helen has tried her utmost to move on from her marriage and make a life away from Nash Blackwell, no man comes close to her ex-husband.
Nash is still madly in love with Helen and letting her slip through his fingers is the biggest mistake of his life. The horse-trainer is prepared to do absolutely anything to win his ex-wife back, however, he has other things occupying his mind at the moment – mainly reversing the ailing fortunes of the family ranch. With the vultures circling around his property and the ranch losing money hand over first, Nash is willing to do whatever it takes for his family – even betting the ranch on Helen winning a cutting horse competition. There is, however, one tiny problem with this scenario: Helen is completely and utterly terrified of riding!
Fully aware of the pressure on her shoulders, Helen’s first instinct when she hears of Nash’s bet is to run for the hills. However, when the panic subsides she decides to face her fears and try to do everything she possibly can to keep the ranch in the family. With Nash with her every single step of the way, Helen knows she is in good hands and as the two of them begin spending more and more time together, never-forgotten feelings quickly come rushing back to the surface.
With the holidays fast approaching, will Nash and Helen give their love another try? Or is it far too late for the two of them?
A witty, poignant and enjoyable second chance contemporary romance, Wyoming Christmas Reunion will tug at the heartstrings with a wonderful blend of drama, emotion and intensity. Melinda Curtis has written an entertaining romantic read that is so entertaining and gripping, readers will find themselves turning the pages until the hours of the morning.

Wyoming Christmas Reunion
by Melinda Curtis
I had read and enjoyed all of the Blackwell saga until the Blackwells of Eagle Springs came along at a bad time for me to accept more books to review. So, coming to the party late, as a fan of author Melinda Curtis, I thought it would be fun to read another Christmasy romance by her. She is very good at making even her series books work well as standalones, so that was not an issue for me. Big E from the other Blackwell series is even a crossover to this one.
I liked the first part of Wyoming Christmas Reunion, and I loved the last part and the wrap-up. I didn’t enjoy the middle where divorced Helen and Nash bounce back and forth ad nauseam on overcoming their backgrounds and their current problems, on their love for each other, and on their commitment to each other.
Nash, an outstanding trainer for cutting horses, in his efforts to save the Flying Spur, the family’s ranch, from developers makes a very risky bet. Helen is a farrier by trade; she has given up riding due to the trauma of injuries from horses, Nash’s bet puts her in the position of needing to overcome her fears to even get on a horse again and then learn how to compete on a cutting horse…all in two weeks. I did learn a lot about cutting horse competition and would love to view it live.
The character in the book that charmed me and kept me going during repetitive parts of the book was Helen and Nash’s son Luke, a sweet kindergartener who wants to train his own horse like Nash did as a child. The book has a lot of themes that appeal to me—family, friendship, and forgiveness. Some of the positive attributes on display in the book are commitment, persistence, kindness, and the ability to open up to communicate on even the hard issues. I enjoyed the ending of the book, and I think those who have read the whole series will be pleased with the conclusion as all the major characters in the series make an appearance in the tale that culminates with the traditional Blackwell Holiday Feast. I also enjoyed the way Christmas carols were incorporated into the story to lighten moods and help Helen focus during the competition.
I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Rating: 3/5
Category: Romance
Notes: 1. #5 in the Blackwells of Eagle Springs Series
2. This is my last Christmas book review for 2022 and probably for quite a while. Next up—a cozy mystery and then historical fiction (WWII).
Publication: November 29, 2022—Harlequin Heartwarming
Memorable Lines:
On those rare occasions when Helen was visibly frustrated, the very air around her was charged the way it was during a summer thunderstorm. Noise, huffing, words flung about looking for a dramatic crash landing. And then the clouds moved on as quickly as they’d blown in. And she’d be evenkeeled and easygoing, like a clear cloudless day where you’d feel recharged beneath her rays of sunshine.
She held Luke still. “Just to recap—no kisses, no kicking, no pushing or putting people in prison.” “You’re funny, Mama.” Luke kissed her cheek and ran out of the bathroom, as if leaving all his cares behind him. An enviable skill.
When the gelding realized they were going in, it was as if he was a completely different horse. He cocked his ears and snorted, head high, gathering himself like a sprinter before he took his mark at the starting line. And then he strutted forward, like he was used to being large and in charge, unafraid of zombie apocalypse bovines.
This is a Clean Second Chance Romance, and this is the 5th book in the Blackwells of Eagle Springs series. This book to me was a super slow moving story with characters that acted like a child. I enjoyed the storyline, but I did not like the characters. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Heartwarming) or author (Melinda Curtis) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.
This is the perfect holiday romance to immerse yourself. The Blackwell livelihood is in dire jeopardy and so is the local community. Much is riding on Helen, Nash, and the horses. I loved all the personalities Of the hordes, they made the scenes easy to envision.
Helen and Nash have some issues to excise, but the love is still there.
Community, family, the holy grail last minute save falls in line in Christmas miracles.
A HEA awaits each reader.
The epitome of saving the best for last! I'm a big fan of the Blackwell family, so every story in The Blackwells of Eagle Springs has been sweet, sentimental and endearing but there's just something special about seeing Nash and Helen reunite that ties it all together beautifully. The characters are fast to hook you, the romantic tension is fast paced and sincere and the family drama happening behind the scenes keeps you turning page after page. I loved this series and hope we haven't seen the last of the Blackwells!
Nash is kindhearted and sincere and the tarnish of his past heartache and sins is just light enough to make him easily redeemable and to have the reader pulling for him from start to finish.
Helen is really easy to sympathize with and she proves time and again why she's the ideal person to lasso a man like Nash.
I highly recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone that enjoys a small town romance filled with a close knit group of family and friends who stick beside each other come what may as happily ever afters come knocking whether they are ready for them or not.
Wyoming Christmas Reunion by Melinda Curtis is book #5 in the Harlequin continuity series, The Blackwells of Eagle Springs. The backstory of Helen Blackwell and Nash Blackwell, how they met, fell in love, divorced and found each other again is expressed in this storyline. I loved every minute of this second chance romance. Add to the mix the conclusion of the overall arc in continuity and the happy ending and I'd say fellow readers will be more than pleased with this book. I love the family togetherness through the troubled, stressful time through the series as well as through the happy times. The characters are very likable and there's lots of fun dialogue. I always enjoy this author's voice and will be looking forward to Ms. Curtis' next release.
I will leave a review on Amazon and B&N on Nov. 29th
Wyoming Christmas Reunion by Melinda Curtis, I believe this was my first book I have read by this author. Overall I found it to be an enjoyable read, I found the book to be full of emotions that show how a marriage can fall apart and over time hopefully be rebuilt. I would recommend this book to others.
I received an ARC from NetGalley and Harlequin Heartwarming for free, with no obligation to leave a favorable review the opinion expressed here are my own.
Wyoming Christmas reunion is a story about family and community sticking together., forgiveness and love. You'll enjoy meeting these characters and their story
I actually was surprised at how very much I enjoyed this book! I am a fan of the author, Melinda Curtis, but I thought this would be just a light romance story and just something pleasant to escape real life with. I was so wrong. It is a very involved plot, full of emotion, and I was so overwhelmed at one point that my heart was in my throat and I was crying. I felt everything the characters were going through, and I cared about them so much! I definitely recommend this book!
I have read a few of the Blackwell series books, and it is a goal for me to read the entire series of 15 books! (There are 3 sets of books, with 5 books in each set.) There is definitely something special about the Blackwell and I want to experience all the stories.
A huge thank you Harlequin Heartwarming and NetGalley for giving me the pleasure of reading the advance reader copy, with no obligation to write a review. My review is written freely as a hobby, and is totally my own opinion, not influenced by receiving the ARC.
I really enjoyed this quick and light Christmas read! I love the focus on reunions and maintaining friendships and relationships. Definitely a good read!
This book opens with Helen rejecting Phil's proposal - Helen is still in love with Nash, her son's father . This is a second-chance romance that was surprising (I've never read any book about ex spouses rekindling their romance) and full of lovely details about horses and horse riding which I really enjoyed (I've always love pony, then horse books). The ending, on Christmas day, is really lovely too. Not sure I enjoyed the characters throughout but it did have some lovely touches.
