I always try with Mehrotra's stories, but her stories never seem to hold my attention. It could be me and I may come back to this book in future.

In a rare move, it is the audiobook that isn't working for me with this book. This book is only 352 pages, but the audiobook is 15 hours? Like yeesh. The narrator also narrates this so slowly that listening to it at 2x sounds like 1x. It's making the book feel longer and more draggy than it is I think so I will continue with the eARC but DNF the audio and see if that helps.

I gave a review of the physical galley of this and I loved it, so I wanted to go ahead and see how the narration for the audiobook played out and holy moly, this book... these characters have a chokehold on me. I can totally see this being the next Ember in the Ashes... its that good.
