Wow!! There is no sophomore slump here. After loving the previous book by this author, I knew I had to read this one. It was everything I wanted and more. I thought it was going to be a cut and dry plot but it was not. I should have known it wouldn’t be from all the thrillers I read. Check this one out!
A woman’s revenge story against a cheating fiancé one month before their fairytale wedding? Count.me.in! Love these type of domestic noir. The premise is great. What would you do if someone showed you a picture of him kissing another woman? Do you confront him immediately? break up or makeup? Or do you decide he needs to pay for it. I mean, really, really make make him regret it? Our gal choose the later. Whether I believe she would do it or not. I don’t feel it’s in her character. As we discover the infidelity a few pages in, the author has to keep up the pace, the plot and the twists all the way through. Jamie, the boyfriend, is some kind of incel monster but I didn’t really buy it. When the ending happened, I felt cheated, having been invested in the revenge from the first few pages.
I’ve been so looking forward to reading the second book by this author, as well as been quite nervous about it, as her first one was absolutely brilliant!
And I’m pleased to say that I loved this one too!
The pace of this book felt so fast as it really put you on edge at times with the deceitfulness of Jamie and Cassie.
When I read a book, the characters, and how they make me feel are hugely important and boy… did these characters get to me! They made me feel tense, on edge, and at times… like I was about to loose my cool with them!
I really liked the revenge factor element in this book and thought it made for a great storyline.
After racing through the book and thoroughly enjoying it, I did find that the pace of the last chapter really slowed down and I almost felt like I’d been stopped in my tracks, which kind of made it feel a bit like an anti climax to the book.
After reading this book, I am also a little confused about the title of it 🤔
Overall, a really enjoyable read for which I give 4 stars.
If you thought that Jess’s first book was an outstanding read – prepare for a treat with her second because oh yes, she gets better and better! How To Destroy Your Husband is Jess’s second standalone book and is out this month published by Kingsley Publishers.
Jess’s writing style has matured dramatically since book one, and it was already refined, polished and far beyond my usual expectations for a debut Author. She has built brilliant characters, ones you will love and ones you will absolutely dislike and despair of. And she puts them through normal paces so that as a reader we can relate to many of the things that they do or are going through. Jess isn’t afraid to address complex themes through these characters and often, as is the case with this book, issues and topics that are regularly avoided and not talked about.
Sense of place has always been important to me when reading a book – and yet with Jess’s and her signature style of not committing to an exact location, or even country, it somehow doesn’t matter. I liked not knowing the currency, the norms, the societal expectations surrounding the characters. In fact, knowing that Jess lives in Australia and is from the UK, I liked that I could picture the storyline unfolding easily in both settings.
Loving Jess’s first book will always mean that as a reader you approach her second with some nervousness. Fear not! Jess has writing totally in the bag and she knows what we want to read, how we want to read it, and how exactly to hook us in so that we don’t pack our suitcases for holiday and instead stay in the pages of her book!
Wow! What a wild ride!!! The twists, the gas lighting, the revenge.... This book seemed to have it all!!
I really loved all the twists in this book!!! They were so good and I really didn't see any of these coming!!! But I wasn't a big fan of Cassie. She wasn't the most likeable character but for some reason you still wanted her to succeed!!
Overall, this is a well written follow up to The Girl She Was Before. If you're a fan of thrillers, I highly recommend giving this one a go!! I promise you won't regret it!!
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author for the opportunity to read this book.
Cassie is about to marry Jamie but she finds out he’s cheating on her. Does she call off the wedding? Does she break up with him? This one kept me up late at night wanting to know what revenge, if any, she had in store for him. Jamie made me want to throw the book across the room a few times because he was a piece of work! A few twists throughout made this a great book to devour in 2 days. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this early release in exchange for my honest review. To be published 10/2022.
I seen this book offered on Facebook so I thought I'd give it a try. A few places were funny but most of it serious.
The only thing that I didn't like was this book was written in present tense style. Other than that, I loved the storyline.
It was very entertaining for sure and certain.
I found myself rooted to my seat through the wedding scene! It was my favorite part of the story because it's where truth and karma came out all at the same time which was why I liked it so much!
I must say my mouth dropped open when both hit all at once! Wowzers!
We get to find out just who lover boy Jamie really is and why he does what he does.
He's not what he seems and I think truth and justice prevails in the end. You can keep secrets but eventually they'll get leaked out by someone.
But there are scenes that will make you want to cry too so you might want to keep a box of tissues nearby.
Cheers to happy reading! I highly recommend this story!
5 stars for keeping me entertained.
My thanks for a copy of this book. I was NOT required to write a positive review. All opinions expressed are my own.
Thank you NetGalley and Kingsley Publishers for the copy of How To Destroy Your Husband. I wish the pace of this book was better. Cassie makes the decision to exact revenge as soon as she finds out Jaime was cheating but it would have made more sense for her to want revenge after the other things she learned. It was selfish of her to allow her friends and family to proceed with everything and be so excited for her. If you can buy that instead of just confronting him she would spend so much time and energy, you will like the description of how she planned to humiliate him. It was clever, but I didn't believe it. It's a good revenge thriller.
Cassie is a true-love skeptic who thinks she has found the perfect fiance in Jamie, but with only a month left before their wedding she finds out he is a liar and a cheat. Refusing to be played as a fool she decides to seek revenge.
I found myself holding my breath while reading this. There were so many close calls while Cassie was investigating Jamie's double-life and the tension keeps rising as we learn more about Jamie and get closer to the wedding date. I'd describe this novel as a fast-read, domestic thriller, feminist, and contemporary.
TW: infidelity, domestic violence
How To Destroy Your Husband is the second book published by Jess Kitching.
I was excited to see what was in store,it is a light thriller compared to The Girl She Was Before.
YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED
You are taken on an adventure through the eyes of Cassie, a woman who is just about to marry the man of her dreams… or so she thought… About a month out from the wedding her world is shattered into a million pieces. Jamie is not the loving devoted husband she thought he was. He was someone who lived a completely different life… One that involved a lot of other women…
Getting into the mind of Cassie was a roller coaster in itself, I felt I was able to live out my darkest fantasies of revenge through her. Taking me less than 24 hours to read-only confirms that I was hooked. I felt that I was there with Cassie trying to figure out the best way to handle the plan of attack. Although at times It was hard to agree with some of the choices she made. I have realised that a person with rage and blinded by betrayal is not someone you should cross!
All I wanted to do was find Jamie and sabotage him myself! Jess’s ability to make the reader so invested in a character is a talent in itself.
The ending brought this novel up to the 5 stars out of 5 it deserves! Hoping there might be a sequel!
Cassie has the perfect life, with a wonderful fiance and great job. A life she could never have dreamed of. But with less than a month before her wedding, she finds her finance is cheating. Rather than just dumping him, she wants revenge and a twisted adventure unfolds with Cassie delving deeper into Jamie's background, making her realise she barely knows this man she is meant to marry.
This was such a page turner and so entertaining in seeing the lengths Cassie went to in order to exact her revenge. As the story goes along there are plenty of twists and turns to keep you guessing and towards the end I could not put this down! Another fabulous instalment by the author.
my first read buy this author and oh my what a story it is it will pull you in from page one and you feel as though you are in the room with the main Character you will be waiting for what Cassie will do next. Cassie has never found the man that is the one until one night she is in a bar and meets Jamie when going to the bar there is electricity there. they start to date then move in together both are teachers. Jamie will do anything for Cassie he a softie her parents love him her best friends like him and she is taking in to Jamie's family circle. and now they are getting married but what would you do if a work friend showed you a photo of your fiance kissing another woman. will Cassie be the woman who just get on with it and do nothing Cassie is one kick ass lady or will she go for the kill. you will totally feel for Cassie this book should come with a warning once you start this book you will not want to stop totally recommend this book and looking forward to more from this author.
How To Destroy Your Husband by Jess Kitching was super addictive.
The suspense builds at a quick pace in this story, with plenty of dark twists.
Jess Kitching created some brilliant characters. Who had me wanting so much more of this story.
Talk about being thrown in from the get-go! I couldn’t flip the pages fast enough to read more…
Had me reading well into the night
And her writing. Damn it was captivating.
I was hooked from beginning to end, and would highly recommend to fans of domestic thrillers.

Kingsley Publishers,
Thank You for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!
After Cassie swears she will never fall in love, she meets Jamie and throws all of that out the window. A month before her dream wedding to her dream man, Cassie finds out he is cheating with a colleague. Instead of breaking off the engagement, she sets out to seek revenge.
Let’s start with this author- this is my first book by Jess Kitching and I really love her writing style. I thought this would be a classic revenge plot- but it’s not! There are so many twists and turns and the last 25% of the book had me racing through to see what would happen with the characters. It didn’t go anywhere near how I thought. It brings up moral dilemmas and really questions how much damage done in revenge still leaves you as the “good” one? The ending had me wanting more and I hope there is a sequel as I have some unanswered questions!
Thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and Jess Kitching for the opportunity to receive an ARC in exchange for an honest review!
This was so good I could literally explode.
I actually screamed out loud when we got to the wedding part. I screamed! I was not expecting any of it and I am usually a good book guesser.
Jamie was the evilest of all the evil. GAH.
The book has this tension that builds up consistently until the wedding, but even then it is twisty. I would hang out with Cass and love every second of it.
Very good book, I thought it was going to be a cut and dry how to make someone pay for what they did to you. I had no clue it was going to be this involved with the characters. Great story that makes you want to keep reading. Cassie in the beginning seems to be very complacent, but she actually is constantly thinking about how to get even with her fiance, who seems to be an absolute horrible human being who is just evil.
WOW!!!! This book gripped me from the first page!!! Jess Kitching is a masterful story teller with a fantastic ability to pull you into the story and keep you captivated and at the edge of your seat from beginning to end! Kitchings writing flows very well and makes you want to pick up and read every chance you can! What a thrilling twist filled ride of a book this was!!!! And that ending was awesome!!!! Bravo Jess Kitching!!!!! Can't wait for your next book!!!!
Much thanks to #netgalley And #KingsleyPublishing for allowing me to read and review this ARC

An interesting version on the revenge theme. Who is the victim, who is the villain and what does it take out of you to plot out an extensive revenge? It is a good distraction from facing the truth of who he is and who you are or isn't it. An engaging well written psychological thriller 4.5
Wow! What a terrific book! Jess Kitching is a wickedly good author!
Cassie Edwards is in love, and engaged to be married to Jamie, aka the perfect man.
A month before their wedding, Cassie discovers that her man is cheating on her. Although devastated, she continues to delve deeper into Jamie’s other life, while planning the ultimate revenge on wedding day.
She soon unravels the complete other life that Jamie lives: multiple affairs, lies, and internet mischief.
She develops her plan meticulously, and plans to humiliate her fiancé at the alter.
This book was a true page turner, as the plans develop and the relationship unravels! The writing is clear and concise, with wonderful description of the emotions a woman feels after betrayal!
Jess Kitching’s second book is a triumph, and I can’t wait for the next book from her!
5 Stars for this one!
Thanks to NetGalley and Kingsley publishers for the ARC edition of the book.
Just WOW! This was brilliant! Jess Kitching knocks this one out of the park. I totally enjoyed this book and could not stop turning the pages. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. I am just worn out after binge reading late into the night. Huge twists, turns and outrageous reveals.
Highly recommend!
