Wow this was excellent! Fast paced, didn't want to put it down. Cassie is not a woman to mess with!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC. I really disliked How to Destroy Your Husband. It was so hard to get through and I'm left with SO MANY QUESTIONS and I will list them as part of my review.
• How long are they supposed to have been together? Is it the 5 years implied in the first paragraph? It felt very unclear 😬
• Why does Cassie immediately turn to revenge when she sees the picture of Jaime kissing Tara? Shouldn't there have been more questions, more confrontation? How does she even know there's more to it than the 1 kiss or that it's actually what it looks like?
• Why is Debbie pushing SO hard to get Cassie to leave?? She really just comes across as a judgmental busy body.
• Why is Cassie so distraught at the thought of being single again when at the beginning of the book, she made it clear that she had given up on love and was content to be single, before meeting Jamie?
• Why does Cassie vomit so much?!?
Nico could've been better and his involvement and reaction were very childish and Jamie's whiney, incel BS was extremely annoying. The ending was TERRIBLE!!!
This was a great and intense read. Jess Kitching tells a captivating story and I enjoyed every second of this novel.
The blurb reads
"Cassie Edwards swore she’d never fall in love… then she met Jamie. He changed everything, and Cassie’s never been happier.
But with less than one month to go to her wedding, Cassie discovers Jamie is cheating on her with his colleague. Blinded by rage, Cassie makes it her mission to seek revenge on the pair.
When Cassie looks deeper into her fiancé’s life, she soon realises being faithful isn’t the only thing he’s lying about.
As her hunt for the truth takes her to some of the darkest corners of the internet, Cassie learns just how little she knows about the man she shares her life with. It leaves her wondering one thing – is Jamie someone she should destroy, or someone she should fear instead?
How far would you go to destroy your husband?"
Main character Cassie is a great asset to author Jess Kitching, I would love to read more about her as I found her super intriguing. Cassie has finally found the one, her husband to be Jamie. Cassie's colleague unfortunately shows her a photo of Jamie kissing another woman and Cassies' world stops. She contemplates what to do and decides to get revenge on Jamie.
Cassie starts on a path to destroy Jamie but soon learns a lot more interesting facts about her hubbie to be.
This is a great novel and 4.5 stars from me, thanks to Jess Kitching, Netgalley and the publishers for allowing me to have an ARC in exchange for my review.
"Smitten, I dived headfirst into love. That was the problem. That’s where it all went wrong."
Jamie's wife-to-be, Cassie, has found out mere weeks before their wedding that he's been cheating with another teacher at the school he works for. Like any jilted woman, she's heartbroken and pissed. She feeds that rage and starts digging into his private life. The dirty secrets she uncovered were horrendous and repulsive.
Oh, how I loathed Jamie. And, unfortunately, I've known real men like him. I felt for Cassie and I understood her anger. At first, I was sure her coworker Debbie wad playing a sick game. The truth was so much worse.
This story floored me. I was totally invested and could completely relate. A great domestic thriller for women.
Thank you to Netgalley, the publisher and the author Jess Kitching for sending me this ARC. I got it before it was released but couldn't find the time to read it.
I started reading this last week while in a bit of a book rut hoping this would cure me. It did not.
I got to 24% then just skipped to the end after reading other reviews. This book was slow, way too slow for me which is strange because it wasn't a big book. The characters were not engaging and I didn't care for any of them. I skipped to the end just to find out how it ended and couldn't even finish that at 84%. I love that other people enjoyed it but for me it's a no.
This is a five-star book for me! I couldn't get enough of the story, and the delicious plans Cassie made to get revenge on her serial cheating fiancé Jamie.. He really was a piece of work.
The writing style, which I enjoyed immensely, reminded me of the fabulous Jane Fallon. There were a few surprises along the way and I got caught up in the action. My heart broke for Cassie on every page but it only made the need for revenge all the sweeter.
I have to say How to Destroy Your Husband is a real page turner and now I'm off to read Jess's debut!
Thanks very much for the opportunity to read this book prior to publication.
The book itself had many twists and turns and was an overall good book. I felt Cassie’s pain and frustrations throughout the book. Definitely a read to recommend. I couldn’t put it down. Thank you, NetGalley, for this advance reader’s copy.
Thank you, NetGalley, for the chance to read and review How To Destroy Your Husband by Jess Kitching!
I had a mild obsession with How to Train Your Dragon at one point (honestly, the movies are still banging, and if you haven't watched those, you're losing out. So when I saw the title, How To Destroy Your Husband, I just had to request the book!
How To Destroy Your Husband is Jess Kitching's second book. She published The Girl She Was Before in October 2021, which averages over 4 stars on Goodreads and Amazon. Her books fall under the thriller/psychological fiction category, are available on Kindle Unlimited, and were published by Kingsley Publishers.
I read How To Destroy Your Husband after I finished How to Kill Men and Get Away With it. I also started reading it in Rex Kl after being disappointed by the bookstore there. I was reading it in a place where I decided if nothing else was going right, I would read on my kindle just to improve my feedback ratio. That was the only thing I could do. Despite that, How To Destroy Your Husband was a tad bit disappointed and cannot be given more than 3 stars.
I don't have any suggestions, and there isn't anything wrong with the book. Like the author hasn't said anything terrible, nothing too awful happens in the book. I just found it boring. It had a great premise, and the twist with the blog was insane, but something about the book feels unmemorable. I don't know if it's our main character or how the book dragged on, I don't know. It was just dull.
Wow! To be a second book this was fantastic! Revenge..... is this a good thing or a bad ideal?? On one hand it is very satisfying but on the other hand so many people who you didn't mean to hurt will get hurt. Is it really worth it? In comes Cassie and Jamie. Perfect couple that has everything great going for them. But do they really???.....This is a must read. Do yourself a favor and pick it up.
I was given this book through Netgalley.

📚: How To Destroy Your Husband by Jess Kitching (@jesskitchingwrites)
⭐️: 4/5 (rounding up on #goodreads)
What would you do, if a month before your wedding, you find out your fiancé is not only cheating - but not at all who he seems to be?
If Gone Girl is a scorned wife’s twisted fantasy, How To Destroy Your Husband starts off as its (maybe too) realistic counterpart. Gripping and page-turning - it feeds you lie after lie, gaslight after gaslight, and I couldn’t stop reading like it was a car crash I had to stare at.
This was a in-two-sittings read - with tonight’s latter half being filled with audible gasps, and a jaw drop at the very end that was just so cleverly 🤯.
Recently out in bookstores just last week on 10/23 - this book is a must read for those that love domestic, twisty thrillers. Big thanks to @jesskitchingwrites, @kingsleypublishers, and @xpressotours via @netgalley for the digital ARC in exchange for an honest review. #gifted
TW: a scene of domestic violence, and a level of misogyny that makes a stomach churn
Absolutely amazing book. Probably one of my favorite read this year. I thought I couldn't get anymore shocked until the end. I would give this 5 our of 5 stars.
Cassie doesn’t think love exists, especially after seeing one of her best friends dumped by her long time boyfriend. That is, until she meets Jamie. Jamie is the perfect guy who treats her unlike any guy before. So when right before they are slated to get married one of her friends shows Cassie a picture of Jamie cheating on her everything falls apart.
While I thought it was going to be a typical story of revenge this story had a good bit of twists and surprises that kept me reading. Even the very last page had a twist that, honestly, I wasn’t sure how I felt about .
Thank you to the publishers and to Netgalley for allowing me to read this advanced copy.
Beyond ecstatic to have received this ARC from NetGalley and Kingsley Publishers for an honest review.
Cheating, lies and revenge all tied up in a neat little package are the themes of this engrossing book. Cassie meets the man of her dreams and they are engaged to be married. Unfortunately, her Jamie is not who he seems. Fast paced and riveting, I could not put down.
Thanks Netgalley for allowing me to read this book. Cassie is estatic about getting married. She loves Jamie so much. She realizes that1 h is cheating on her and decides to do sone more digging. The more she uncovers the more scared she becomes. I liked this book.
Wow! This book kept me glued to the edge of my seat the entire time and had me hooked from page one!
The title says it all! I had no clue what the story was about but the story ready like a journal; so much of our main character thoughts come through, at times, I got confused and thought she actually said it to her husband, who we all know what a scumbag he is. This was a game of cat and mouse game that kept me riveted to the end. Our main character Cassie discovers a photo of her fiancé and another colleague kissing and set Cassie on a two-week plan to plan on destroying him on the wedding day but what she finds out along the way is very dark and sinister that you think it will end up violently. It definitely did not work for me because the ending made me think he got away with all that he did.
with a month to go before her wedding Cassie discovers her boyfriend is cheating. She decides to seek revenge, Hard to put down as you want to see what happens.
I loved this book! I would have given more than 5 stars if possible. I am in a reading slump because I feel I am too busy to read. However, this book reeled me in. I literally could not put it down! When this book is out I will recommend to everyone!
I love domestic thrillers and this one seemed like it would have all the drama I was looking for. It did, but it didn’t. I flew through it in one sitting and I liked it but I feel like it was a firecracker that you expected to hear a big bang and only got a small whistle. It didn’t quite get where I thought it would go. If you’re looking for a quick, easy read this is for you.
Cassie Edwards is head over heels for her fiancé Jamie. With one month to go she is consumed with planning her wedding. After her friend shows her a photo of Jamie kissing a co-worker, Cassie’s world is turned upside down.
Cassie decides she’s not going to let Jamie get away with it and pretty soon she realizes that Jamie is lying about a whole lot more than just the numerous affairs. Blinded by hurt and anger, she is unprepared for the fallout of her quest for revenge.
How to Destroy Your Husband is available now.
Thank you to netgalley and kingsleypublishers for this arc in exchange for my honest review.
2.5 stars.
I’m so sad that I didn’t end up liking this book, as I had seen positive reviews everywhere. The premise sounded really up my alley - the sweetness of revenge sounded like a fun fantasy to read!
Cassie Edwards swore she’d never fall in love, till she met Jamie; the perfect guy, the love of her life. But close to their wedding, she found out that he had been cheating on her, and that he might not be the person she thought he was. Full of rage, she planned a full-on revenge and decided to destroy him.
Right from the start, I was expecting a strong justification of why Cassie reacted the way she did and decided to go down the warpath. Unfortunately, I never got it. To me, there was no strong reason to warrant going through the wedding just for the sake of humiliating Jamie. At some point in the book, I thought we were dealing with an unreliable narrator (which I would’ve enjoyed a lot better), but it didn’t turn out to be that kind of a story.
I felt that the stake of the revenge itself wasn’t high enough. The revenge methods felt a bit juvenile, and the impact of her actions in real life wouldn’t be that big of a deal.
Having said all that, I enjoyed the writing style. The scenes were written well, and the storytelling flowed nicely. I chuckled at some scenes because I was quite engrossed in Cassie’s actions. So, even though the premise of this one didn’t end up working for me, I wouldn’t mind checking out the author’s other books.
