Originally published in 2011, the new cover art caught my eye and the fact that this will soon be a movie on Amazon via Reese Witherspoon’s production company was another selling point.
The story about two Tiffany shopping bags switched during a pedestrian traffic accident amongst strangers leads to a very slow read. The writing is dull, scenes and conversations are far too dragged out. The characters are bland and unlikeable and their actions seemed inauthentic. I found myself increasingly frustrated with all of the character’s choices and found it difficult to finish this book. The premise was really promising but it was not executed well. I think this will do better as a movie and I look forward to seeing it.
Thank you to Sourcebooks Landmark for this ARC via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
this is the story of two men who buy their girlfriends a Christmas gift from Tiffany's, but due to a mishap, the packages get mixed up. cute Christmas story.
Something from Tiffany's is a predictable and honestly, not very special.
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.
I was looking forward to a fun Christmas story, and this seemed to fit the bill.
Ethan is on holiday in New York with his girlfriend, whom he plans to surprise on Christmas Eve with a stunning engagement ring from Tiffany's. But while acting as a Good Samaritan when a pedestrian is struck by a cab, Ethan's (expensive) package is switched for another, setting in motion a series of unforeseeable events.
The premise and set-up were great, but the story never took off for me. All four main characters read a bit flat. The story is set in New York, London and Dublin, but it could have just as well been Peoria, Sheffield and North Inner City, Dublin. I never felt myself in any of the locations. The ending picked up a bit, but, overall, this story never matched the potential of the interesting open.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for my copy - all thoughts are my own.
This is a difficult one to rate, as I love fate, and I love the premise of the story, the writing in some places were very good, and in others it was shocking. I am hoping this will get a really good edit and it may flow better. The start was good, but the end felt so rushed. The relationship between Rachel and Gary felt real, as all know someone who puts up with a neanderthal because they don’t want to be alone, no matter how much their friends tell them not to keep dating them. Ethan and Vanessa you can kind of get on the surface, I think I understood Ethan more, but I just didn’t warm to Vanessa and I do think that maybe we aren’t supposed to, but honestly the whole thing felt stilted and you know what will happen in the end, maybe not the whole thing, but you are led there like a puppy on a lead. Overall it’s a good story, but it cold be so much better, I hate to say it but this could be one that the movie is better than the book.
I have always been a fan of Melissa Hill. I discovered her roughly 10 years ago or so.
Ethan, his daughter and girlfriend take a trip to NYC for Christmas, while this not may be the best choice as it was his deceased wife's favorite place, but Vanessa rolls with the punches for his daughters sake. Ethan is ready to take the big plunge and purchases an extravagant ring, but if you are familiar with Hill's books, things happen and there are twists.
Gifts are mixed up after a mishap.
It was a fun story of mishaps and perhaps a mishap puts you with the right person after all.
I received this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a perfect for the film type of book, I could imagine the characters coming into life under the NYC bright lights, right around Christmas time too! It was a warm, quick read.
I received a free copy of, Something from Tiffany's by Melissa Hill, from the publisher and Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. Oh how I wanted to love this book, but I could not. I did not like this book at all, Daisy was the only nice character, of the bunch.
What girl doesn’t recognize the little blue box with the white bow as something special form Tiffany’s? Based on this premise, Widower Ethan Greene is in NYC and has purchased a wowser engagement ring for his soon to be posh fiancée whom he is going to ask on Christmas Day. His 8-year-old daughter, Daisy, is so excited because her late mother always told her that magic happened with a gift from Tiffany’s. Gary Knowles, and his girlfriend Rachel are in NYC for a once in a lifetime holiday trip, one that no way Gary could afford. But he is a very self-centered man, and at the last minute realizes that he must buy his girlfriend a Christmas gift so he buys her a simple bracelet from Tiffany’s. That’s only after he has splurged on himself with some designer duds. As fate would have it, both Ethan and Gary left Tiffany’s at the same time, when a cab hits Gary and Ethan comes to his aid. Scooping up their belongings, you guessed it, bags get swapped. Imagine the surprise on Christmas morning when the posh fiancée of Ethan opens a simple bracelet and Gary unbeknownst to him, as he is unconscious at the hospital, has proposed to his girlfriend with a 2-carat diamond! But Gary just goes for it, counting his lucky day. As Ethan tries to get it back, he makes a connection to Rachel, which confuses him. Secrets abound, and Daisy is cute as a button as the voice of reason. Most of the characters are loveable, like Daisy, but Gary is an unlikeable and swarmy character that you are glad gets his in the end. But, the romantic good guy hero, Ethan is a bit too soft in his approach and a pushover. Who spends $20K on a ring and not demand it back right away because you don’t want to hurt a stranger’s feelings? Still it was a good romantic holiday read that was quick from beginning to end. Good but not great.
Many thanks to #netgalley #somethingfromtiffanys #melissahill #sourcebooks for the opportunity to read and read this book.
I picked this book up and was settled in for a quick fun romance book. But the one I read was not at all what I was expecting. There were so many times I just wanted Ethan or Gary to step up and fix the mix up of the bags.
Not very often have I been tempted to stop reading but with each page I was hoping for more. I didn’t like much a bout this book. I finished but cannot recommend it. I have read other books by Melissa Hill and enjoyed them.
Thank you NetGalley, Melissa Hill and Sourcebooks Landmark for the book Something from Tiffany’s. This is my personal review.
Thank you to the publisher for providing an ARC of this book.
In Something from Tiffany's, Ethan picks out the perfect ring for his girlfriend hoping to propose. Gary picks out a bracelet for his girlfriend. Due to an unfortunate event, the gifts get switched and that's where things get complicated.
I was excited to read this book knowing that it would soon be made into a movie from Hello Sunshine. I always love reading books and then watching a movie to see how the characters were portrayed. The plot sounded interesting to me and I was excited to read it. Once I started though, I had a hard time connecting with the characters. For some reason, I didn't feel like I knew them well enough. I wanted to root for them and care about their happy (or unhappy) ending. Usually if I love a book, I will stay up late to read or find any opportunity to finish. This book just didn't have that same pull for me. I was definitely surprised by a few plot twists in the book and think it could relate well on film. I look forward to seeing the film version.
Who doesn't love the thought of the flagship Tiffany's store in New York at Christmastime? This book begins there and moves across the pond weaving in the stories of two couples who may or may not have been touched by the magic of the robin's egg blue and white that is Tiffany's.
Overall this is a cute, fun romcom with cute heroes and annoying villains. The pace is quick and the characters are cute. Would recommend.
I used to be obsessed with Tiffany and Co. and their iconic blue boxes. Seeing this book cover brought back all of those fantasy emotions for me and I couldn't wait to read it. Thanks to NetGalley for providing a copy for the purpose of this review.
My bridal shower was even a Tiffany theme! The characters in this book are brought to life over their common interest in purchasing from the famous store and walking out with that special blue box. I loved the details that Hill wrote about that made me think I was there shopping too!
I look forward to the movie version that HelloSunshine is producing!
Something from Tiffany's is a lovely, fun read.
New York City is the ultimate Christmas destination so throw in romance, some mishaps and the ultimate gift in a little blue box and you have yourself a winner of a book.
Thank you to NetGalley and SOURCEBOOKS Landmark for my ARC.
Thanks Netgalley and the publisher for the book!
This author is the Quinn of Christmas readings! This story is really cozy and cute 🥰
Something from Tiffany’s by Melissa hill released October 2022. This book reminded me of romance movies of the 1940’s. There is a mix up and errors. The characters and stories are pretty shallow. Could not get involved in the book
I love books that give you a warm fuzzy feeling and this book did exactly that! I, so happy Reese Witherspoon company is acquiring it! It was so great how the stories intersected. It has great characters and NYC at Christmas time is always the perfect backdrop for any type of story, Highly recommended.

Soon to be a Hello Sunshine/Prime feature film, from international bestselling author Melissa Hill comes an adorable holiday romance about taking chances, falling in love, and trusting destiny.
New York City at Christmas and a visit to Tiffany's is a recipe to sweep a girl off her feet unless fate has other plans . . .
When Ethan Greene lost his wife, he never thought he would be able to replace her, until one woman stepped in and showed him how to be happy again. Now, on a romantic Christmas trip to New York City, he has a plan to show Vanessa just how important she is to him and maybe even to give his daughter, Daisy, a complete family again. He's going to propose with a perfect ring from Tiffany's.
Gary Knowles and his girlfriend, Rachel, are on the trip of a lifetime in New York at the most magical time of year. The only thing missing is Gary's gift for Rachel, since as usual, he's left his shopping far too late. On a last-minute Christmas Eve visit to Tiffany's, he quickly picks out a charm bracelet for her and heads back to their hotel. But, in a moment, one small mistake changes everything...
I read this book when it was originally released in 2011. When I heard that a film was being made, due to be released in December 2022, I was so excited that I had to re-read it! I loved it even more the second time round.
A heart-warming and uplifting novel - perfectly festive and gloriously romantic.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from SOURCEBOOKS Landmark and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Fun, entertaining and delightful characters make this one worth it.
Thank you Netgalley, Sourcebooks and Ms. Hill for the copy. I have forgotten that I've read this back in 2013. I saw that this will be made into a movie thus the "ARC." I will be attaching my original review which can be found in Goodreads.
I'm really not a fan of chic-lits. This was too predictable and the characters are not very likable, they're either too good or too bad, never the right balance. I really got bored with this one.
