An exciting romantic suspense with a main character who has struggled, but is now trying to help others. A man is viciously stabbed and tries to contact nurse Carmen Desoto. She has no idea who he is, but Detective Liam Hollister doesn’t believe her. Carmen got into trouble after her mother died when she was sixteen, but thanks to Liam’s partner, Detective Isabella Walker, she got her life back on track. She now works as a nurse and helps Isabella as a confidential informant. Busy with the investigation, Liam is notified that his father has been released from prison. He had been serving time for massive insurance scams, but why was he released early? Carmen and Liam share a white-hot attraction, but why would he be interested in someone like her, someone with a record? Working off hours at a local clinic has put Carmen in the sights of a man who tries to blackmail her into helping him with an insurance scam. Can she turn to Liam for help; will he believe her and keep her safe? I received an advance review copy at no cost and without obligation for an honest review. (paytonpuppy)
Love this series of books, but really think Liam is a favorite new book boyfriend! A wonderful slow building romance of a story, with lots of tension in the story. There is intrigue, suspense, and all the qualities of a book that I want to read. The storyline is well done with a great plot, the romance slow steady. Liam was the perfect “laid back guy” on the police force and Carmen was a force to be reckoned with. All in all a great story!

Can time heal all hurt?
Oh my what a great addition to the Intelligence unit series and in book 5 we get Liam and Carmen’s story and my oh my this book had me on the edge of my kindle. We get a good will they or won’t then with suspense, danger and super intense attraction. Throw in a little bit of the forbidden and it’ll have you hooked.
The author writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shockingly intimate I have become a huge fan of this author. The author writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.
Authors Blurb: When Detective Liam Hollister is assigned to an assault-turned-murder, he brings his signature three “C”s: control, calm, and composure. The “C” he wasn’t counting on? His partner’s informant, Carmen Desoto, who’s not only the key to unlocking his case.
The sexy, sharp-tongued nurse is the only person who’s ever gotten under Liam’s skin. Driven him crazy.
Made him want the one thing he can’t have.
And now they have to go undercover together to catch a killer.
Liam knows he must keep Carmen at a distance, no matter how hard it is to resist. But when the scheme they uncover puts them directly in danger, distance isn’t an option.
They’ll have to fight together if they want to make it out alive.
This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Carmen and Liam are on sketchy terms and Carmen being the CI of Liam’s partner brings them together in another case. They appear to be at each others throats but mostly because they initially deny their feelings for each other.
As the case progresses, they must team up together to bring an insurance fraud scheme to light.
Great read!
I greatly enjoy suspense stories that feature a love story. Especially when the love story involves a man of the law. Oh ya!!!
Liam works in the CI unit and Carmen is an informant for his partner. Years ago they crossed the line, but since then, they’ve been like oil and vinegar. When Liam and his partner believe she knows something on a case they are working, can he get her to open about the case and her feelings for him??? Hmmmm…
Well this is a story that grabs hold of you in the first few pages and never lets go until the end With enough twists and turns to keep you full engaged and main characters that are multi dimensional I guarantee that this is one book you won't be putting down till you turn the last page
Detective Liam Hollister is the quite cool member of the intelligence team the one that is never rattled that is except when it comes to nurse Carmen Desoto she works with the edges of society which leads her to been a good informant for the intelligence unit But now they have a murder on their hands that turns out to be much more and places Carmen in danger then Liam will do whatever he needs to in an effort to keep her safe and his team will back him all the way. Be prepared for a lack of sleep when you pick this one up
Great book with a strong, believable storyline and characters you will definitely like. Deals with drug addiction in a respectful manner as well. It humanizes them without excusing the behavior. Liam is a strong, safe, yet vulnerable presence in the life of Carmen as she grapples with making her future much better than her past. She is open and honest and an all around sweet lead. Definitely enjoyed their relationship.
Kimberly Kindcaid's latest is a solid read through and through, capturing the awkwardness, longing and unease of mistakenly unrequited feelings...that would have probably stayed that way for much longer if not for a case of blackmail and fraud that brings two quite unlikely people together.
Liam Hollister and Carmen Desoto aren't the kind of pairing I'd see at first sight, but Kincaid presents a compelling case of the both of them together as they navigate events of their pasts that come to light in the present. Past the UST, both Liam and Carmen become a team and pretty much fight for each other the whole way; the latter is scrappy, tenacious and just so resilient that it's hard not to like her. In contrast, Liam's cool steadiness is her foil, but also a support that has them convincingly going undercover together even as thing start to get steamy between them.
I can very clearly see the lines of conflict that Kincaid has drawn in the story and it's cleverly done in a way that keeps you guessing how things are going to come to a head even though you do see the climax a mile away. It's compelling enough that I lost a little sleep over it...but for a story like this? It's probably worth it.
This story will make your heart melt and at times make you burn. Parts will make you laugh and parts that will make you want to cry. Some drama, lots of feel good moments. To sum it up - a must read.
The saint is a story about cops and doctors with a criminal scam involved. The characters some from other books in series and new ones involved in this book. You'll enjoy reading how they interlock and bring justice.
Great book and series! Wow! This book had a bit of everything! It had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, even romance! It also had so many twists and turns and great police work! This book took me a few to get to because I went back to the series and realized I read books one and two and that's it! So I had to read the rest of the series before I read this one! Lol what a great series! This books storyline was so very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I highly recommend reading this book and series! They're well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me! And a big thank you to Kimberly Kincaid for your amazing words! I can't wait for more!
