I don’t like to rate memoir style books. The author’s life is laid bare, and I choose to respect that their life is just that - theirs.
This is correctly labeled as meditations and stories. I wished there was more about Jason’s background and early attempts at sobriety while reading. This is more though, about his successful transition to a sober life and the difficulties he fought as well as a celebration of his relationship with God. It is sprinkled throughout with statements from others that the author finds meaningful and relevant.
I appreciated the way the author motivates readers to seek help and seek supportive friendships. He shares his story so others in similar struggles with addiction (past and/or present) will not feel alone. A valuable read. Thank you to NetGalley and Michael Albanese/The Weight of Ink for an advance Copy to read.
