hmmm. this one solidified for me that I am truly not a horror fan, but I can appreciate the artwork and the story! If you like zombies, horror, and that creepy crawly feeling then this one is for you!
I expected something different from this book so I didn't enjoy it. The artistry though is on point.
I loved the art, it really conveyed the gore aspects of the story. By the way, this book is very gorey and dark! I'm pretty intrigued by the plot—I just need some more of it in order to get a better feel for the story.
Note: I think more volumes need to come out in order for this series to really kick off. I was starting to see some story develop, but it kind of left me with more questions than I feel like a volume one should. I still am intrigued by the story though, and I hope more volumes are released so I can continue reading.
Thanks to NetGalley and Ablaze Publishing for the ARC!
Zombie Makeout club wasn't what I expected. It's story was kinda (imo) a rip off of Tokyo ghoul, the art was pretty cool though. The writing itself could use a bit of work as well. But overall, as a manga it was a fast read.
The art style is absolutely amazing.
For the plot itself, I was really looking forward to this story. Besides the cover, the description was what really hooked me into wanting to read this manga. Sadly, the plot did not hold up for me. Everything felt too rushed and I was confused throughout reading. The plot did not feel as developed as I was expecting it to be.
I am definitely not the target audience for this one. I usually can do a bit of gore and some horror, but this was far too dark for my tastes.
it seems like they forgot that in order to publish a manga/webtoon, your story needs to be cohesive and somewhat make sense… beautiful imagery, though
WOW
I mean, that's is some real gore shit, I'm used to read Junji Ito a lot, so this was a really cool reading for me. Sometimes I couldn't see very well what was happening in the scene by the amount of blood and deaths, but anyway I managed to understand the story; The style of the characters is wonderful and very well drawn.
Congratulations to the Author and Thanks NetGalley for the ARC 🎉🙏🏽
I really liked the art style, it's very dark and perfect for this genre of manga. I like the concept but it left me with a lot of questions, that can only be answer by reading the next one in the series. I will definitely be continuing with this series and recommend to anyone that wants to have a quick scary/ dark read.
Thank you NetGalley and Diamond Book Distributers for this E-ARC in exchange for my honest opinion!
I’ve always seen the Zombie Makeout Club clothing, and I was always so intrigued in the designs. When I saw that a manga was releasing, I was so excited. Even though there’s not much of a storyline in this manga, I honestly enjoyed it, ALOT. The art in this manga is on my list of top favorites. I’m honestly mesmerized. The amount of gore in this is everything I want in a horror manga. I can’t wait to buy a physical copy!
HUGE TW: death, mention of suicide, sexual assault, blood/gore..so much gore
I really loved the idea of this book, but it didn’t seem fully fleshed out, and unfortunately left me kind of confused. The art is really cool and I loved the characters. I think I would read more of this series. First issues are always hard, but this one definitely has some potential! I’m interested to see where these characters go and learn more about what the actual **** is going on.
I was drawn to this graphic novel by the art on the cover and I have to say that throughout the course of the manga the art was incredible and really tied the grittiness of the novel and dark subject matter all together. Unfortunately it fell short with the actual story; everything from beginning to end felt rushed and not properly fleshed out. If given the chance to add some much needed detail and character exploration this would be a tremendous read, it unfortunately fell short of that for me.
This was confusing and I couldn't make myself finish it. A lot of the gory content felt like it was unrelated to what little plot there was. Why did some of it happen? Who knows. Perhaps reading this digitally made it harder to understand.
wow, this was really really not my style. I thought the premise sounded interesting but it was confusing to follow, and overly gratuitous in ways that didn't seem to lend to the story at all.
Let me sum it up with one word: huh?
This was extremely confusing to follow. It seemed that it was more focused on art style than the plot or the characters. The story moved so fast with little explanation so you couldn't understand what was happening. It was a major disappointment because the art style was really cool but the whole story is pointless.
The blurb and art style was amazing. Extremely graphic which I was prepared for. But still unnerved me. However the story/plot was hard to follow. Overall it was an average read for me.
The art style of this Manga was incredible, although very very graphic. This is definitely one to check for TW before reading! This is only the first volume so i understand there wouldn’t be much plot to this, however I actually quite liked our main character and I’m excited to read more volumes and see more of what happens!!
The art in this comic is absolutely amazing, I absolutely love every detail and every panel. The story is fun and engaging, if a little short and disjointed. Hopefully I'll get the opportunity to read more soon. I would love to see more of this world and it's characters.
This book in color ! Oh I don’t think I could handle it ! So when I was first reading it I got a bit confused. I finished it and then I just thought about it for a bit and decided I’d sleep on it. I loved the art. It’s so easy to get the whole …….entire……. Picture lol even without color. I feel like this one of those things you need to simmer on for a bit because the further away I get from when I first read and the more I think back on it the more I like it. I cannot wait to see more of this series !
I DNF'd. The art was great, but it felt like a vehicle for the gore. I really liked the description, but I was so confused on what the plot was. I was losing track of characters and motivations. I wanted more camera time to be spent on characters to get to know them and what was going on, but before I got settled it was moving on. A+ for how the sexual assault was handled, though. I giggled when I saw what the man's fate was.
