While the premise sounded promising, this book was not for me. I wasn't a fan of either of the main characters and found the hero's kid to be written too young for her age. There were definitely some scenes where I thought the chemistry was building and it helped pull me through to the end, but the main conflict was one of my least favorite tropes. I'd purchase it for my library, considering the popularity of illustrated cover romances, but it wouldn't be high on my list of recommends.
One thing about me is I'm always gonna eat up the single dad x nanny trope in a romance book, the family vibes and domesticity get me every single time. I enjoyed this book immensely! I believe the author's shining achievement is how well fleshed out each character is and how enjoyable they are to read on the page, from the protagonists to the side characters, everyone had an their own arc and a level of interiority I don't often see for side characters in a romance. This was fun, thoughtful, and Aiden was the shy yet filthy talking man of my dreams!
This book was so good! I was on a kick with reading books with the Only Fans/Cam girl plot, and this one was good! The spice was excellent and the chemistry between Cassie and Aiden was on par! I don't normally like nanny tropes, but this one was done well!
This was a fun and steamy read!
I enjoyed the tension and chemistry between the two!
I saw a lot of people loving this book and needed to read it!
This book was a quick read for me, though I did not fully connect with the characters. I liked how Cassie really tried to help Sophie and Aiden connect as father and daughter and spend time getting to know each other better, though I felt I couldn't always connect with her as a character. I wanted a little more of her and Sophie, i think Sophie should have been more of a focus at times.
This book was so much fun! Between the witting banter and characters, I was able to fall into this story so quickly. My favorite part was the characters - I fell in love with all of them. I especially loved Wanda and Sophie, and felt like every single character (even the side ones) had so much love and spirit to them! This book was fun, fast paced, and full of adorable feel good moments that had me smiling uncontrollably!
Spicy, spicy, spicy!
While I feel this was a little unrealistic as far as their relationship goes, I still have to say this book was rather fun. Sometimes things can just be fun and be enjoyable, they don't have to be realistic. This is one of those.
For those that like spicy, open door romances then this one is for you! The tension builds up and once it explodes these two can't keep their hands off each other.
I also loved the single dad trope and how that situation was handled with the Aunt who also wanted to be more involved. The third act break up as usual for most romances was a little excessive to me, but they figure it out in the end of course!
I absolutely loved the premise of this book and flew through the first 75%. However, the last quarter of the book felt rushed and included my most hated trope, miscommunication. Not to mention a third act break up that just didn't fit with the characters. In all I did love this book and the spice level was perfection!
This is a fun and steamy romance between a single dad and his nanny who he (unknowingly) knows from being her number one (only) fans.
Overall, this book had a lot of cute moments and the spicy scenes were HOT. I also enjoyed seeing them as a family of three and the adorableness associated with that.
But even though this book was mostly fine, there was just a little something lacking in the plot that made me not love this book as much as I could have.
There were a lot of things I liked about this book–I loved the meet-cute concept, the forced proximity, and the sexual tension and spice were great! My biggest issue with this book was that I often found myself agreeing with the 'antagonist' in that the Aunt would have been a better guardian for Sophie, specifically in the first half of the book when Aiden's constant absence was more of a problem. It made his character more difficult for me to relate to or love because when it comes to taking care of a child that young I feel like your good intentions matter less than how your actual actions are making your kid feel. His intentions to eventually find a solution to working too much matter less to me than the fact that making changes wasn't an urgent priority to him while Sophie felt neglected.
I loved this book, and it’s a particularly impressive début. The story is tight and well-written, the protagonists feel anchored and don’t fall into archetypes, and the emotional stakes are high. I loved Cassie and Aiden, who are both dealing with a lot and have needs not being met. Aiden is emotionally vulnerable, due to being new to single fatherhood, and feeling like he doesn’t have anything to offer a partner. He feels insecure about being a good dad to Sophie, especially due to the fact that his job is incredibly demanding. Cassie came from a loveless home and she’s had to work to support herself since age eighteen, which makes it hard for her to be open with another person. She’s empathetic and caring, but has a hard time accepting love, which makes sense for her character.
The secondary characters are well-established, which I really appreciated. Sophie is a great kid, and I enjoy reading kids who are actually childlike, and Iris, Sophie’s aunt, is a great source of conflict in the story. Iris is the sister of Sophie’s late mother, and she feels displaced in Sophie’s life. She lashes out at Aiden, and while she’s not a likable character, she has an important place in the story. I also loved Wanda, Cassie’s former neighbor and surrogate family. She’s a snappy older lady, and I adore characters like that. She also pushes Cassie to be her best self and reminds her that life has to be lived.
The plot is a little unexpected, but it really works for the story. My expectations were actually exceeded, as what I expected to be the main conflict was defused before the climax of the book. In some ways the last act could come off as routine, but it works because of the emotional reality of the characters. I highly recommend The Nanny; I have a feeling it’s going to be one of my favorites for this year.
This one is definitely more spice than story, which works for a LOT of romance readers, but I prefer there to be more story and action beyond the spicy romance. Good characters! I wanted to get to know them more.
The Nanny was a mixed bag for me. I did enjoy the humor and both Cassie and Aiden were likable characters. I did want to see them get their HEA, but there was a lot of awkwardness in their relationship, and I didn’t feel much chemistry between them. There were A LOT of sex scenes. Yes, they were hot, and I do enjoy them, but I hit my limit after about the fifth one. They started to feel like just filler, and I started skimming because I just wanted to get on with the actual story. I feel like the story would’ve benefitted by some editing down.
Wanda, Cassie’s friend, was a hoot and Sophie, Aiden’s daughter, was sweet. They were both fun additions to the story.
THIS BOOK!!! I can already tell it's going to be the rom-com of the summer. I absolutely loved this book. It had classic tropes that we all know and love but it was done in such a new and fun way. Would definitely recommend to anyone looking for a cute summer read!

This had a hook that would capture anyone with a pulse. This worked on many levels due to the cute kid, sexy dad, and the gal who is the nanny...sassy, smart, and capable. The read was quick, fun, and enjoyable.
What happens when two people who knew each other intimately and anonymously on Only Fans end up living in close quarters? You'll have to read The Nanny to find out more about Cassie and Aiden's history and where it leads them.
UH CAN WE TALK ABOUT THE SPICE? Whew, this was well done. I love any book with a Nanny/single dad and this was no exception. I had a lot of fun with this book and am so happy I read it. The romance was great and the chemistry between the characters was so good.
Thank you #netgalley for an early read of #thenanny in exchange for my honest review
Just wonderful. I was not anticipating how full of love this story would be; I was crying by the end!
"The Nanny" is hot and sexy with so many well written characters, including great side characters. The conflicts and emotions felt very real.. The Only Fans storyline was not as big of a focus as I was expecting, but was a positive representation.
I can't think of anything that didn't work here! Certainly a standout in recent contemporary romance releases. I'll be looking forward to more from Lana Ferguson.
Thank you to NetGalley & the publisher for providing an eARC for review.
I promise this is my last time talking about The Nanny by Lana Ferguson (I’m lying I won’t ever stop talking about it). Thanks @berkleyromance for my arc to review although idk I feel like y’all pulled the wool over my eyes with how 🥵🍆 this was. Now I need a hard copy 😉.
The Nanny is hot. It’s funny. It’s sweet. It’s super sex work positive (love a booby cam book). It has literally one of the best 9 year old and 72 year old I’ve ever read -*Lana I need a Wanda book stat*. And it’s also hella deep - dealing with abandonment, loneliness, fear of being a bad parent, grief. It’s about two utterly sad and lonely and tired people finding joy in each other. The depth surprised me. The sex shocked the hell out of me (in a good way. The use me. The kitchen. The flashbacks. WHEW)
@lanafergusonwrites you’ve gained a fan. I’m ready for whatever you write next. And y’all MUST read this book. But be ready to for your undies to disappear 🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠🫠
This is almost a 5 star but there’s 1) zero racial diversity and 2) I wish Cassie was older (like 28 goodness would’ve been perfect)
3.5 stars
Nanny romances can be hit and miss for me. The power dynamic is tricky and there’s also often an age gap (another trope that I don’t always love). Thankfully, overall this one worked for me. I really enjoyed the first half and the build up between Aiden and Cassie. Their unconventional “meet cute” was a great set up for the book and made this more of a second chance romance and decreased the feeling of instalust. I was also very, very pleasantly surprised by the amount of steam in this and Aiden was such a delicious dirty cinnamon roll hero (my fav!)
Unfortunately, the second half of the book dragged a bit and made the book feel too long. I also wasn’t a fan of the lying by omission/“for your own good”. The third act break up frustrated me a lot and I wish Sophie hadn’t been the catalyst to getting to the HEA.
I both read & listened to the audiobook of The Nanny and I enjoyed the performance by Samantha Summers very much. She was the perfect Cassie and I thought the various voices she used for the other characters were very effective. Unfortunately, I didn’t enjoy the narration by Jameson Adams as much. His voice didn’t have a lot of inflection and sounded robotic at times. I started to prefer reading Aiden’s POV chapters versus listening to them.
