Thank you NetGalley and Sarah Fader for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
This story was a very quick and easy read, I didn't actually expect that. I would recommend this to school-age children since it has pretty easy language and it's easy to understand. This is why my review and rating can appear less than satisfactory. I just thought it was aimed at a much different audience and that wasn't the case.
I did however like the story enough, I finished it in one sitting because it was short enough. If you like short, funny mysteries you should pick up this one for an easy, quick read.
Sarah Fader's writing is easy to understand and entertaining enough. Very suitable for school-age kids looking for a quick, sweet mystery to read.
2.5, but rounded up to 3 Stars, only because I thought it was pretty short and I wasn't targeted audience. If I was a middle scholar, I would've given it a higher rating.

One Saturday afternoon Pam and her sister Emily overhear a conversation between two menI that stops them in their tracks. On November 16th they plan to kill someone. Now the girls have exactly one week to save Alan Norman McBride.
I read this with my 12 year old granddaughter and the opinions are mostly her’s…as dictated to me.
I think there was a great deal to like about this story. Pam, Emily and Lauren are strong, characters. They are smart, intuitive and independent thinkers who use their individual and combined skills to work through and solve problems. The plot involving the mystery, and how the girls go about solving it, is also very interesting and inventive.
It was a bit confusing and hard to engage in because You couldn’t get a sense of when this story took place. The language used by the criminals gave it a 1940’s or 50’s feel, yet there were cultural references that set it in the late 90’s. Also, some of the characters were very strange, and the things they said and did felt wrong to me.
All in all just an ok read.
