This cover is GORGEOUS, the author is talented, and the story tugs on the heart. And the first line pulled me in swiftly.

I love dual timelines, especially when the transitions between the two eras flow smoothly, such as in Yesterday’s Tides. The WWI and WWII settings are engaging and feel authentic, and the characters are unforgettable in this well-crafted story. Roseanna M. White is a talented storyteller. I’ve read several books by this author and have never been even the slightest bit disappointed.

These characters! I grew attached to them, especially Evie and her peaceful nature, but so many people touched me. Through all their struggles, the light of courage, faith, and love shines through. The story includes secrets, romance, loss, history, and suspense. A rich story that brought me to tears as well as consoled my soul. I loved the inspiring foundations of faith, family, trust, and hope.

First Line: The first light of sunrise turned the water of the Pamlico Sound to gold, the clouds to rose, and the dark to morning, promising Evie Farrow that today would be just like yesterday.

If you have read White’s other books about the code breakers, you are in for a treat. Yesterday’s Tides tells the story of the Culbreaths. And even if you haven’t, this book is so delightful without knowing their backstory.

Set during both World Wars, the book solves a multi-generational mystery about the past of several women on Okracoke Island. I loved reading about their courage, histories, and sheer grit to survive even when separated from the ones they loved.

Yesterday's Tides by Roseanna M. White is and incredible tale of one family through two separate strands of time. Set dually during the WW I and WW II in the Carolina Outer Banks, the story slips back and forth in time, until the two storylines merge beautifully. I know of very few authors who skillfully blend mystery, romance, racism, grief, aristocracy, code breaking and spies. I particularly love the cameos made by favorite characters from her other series. I received a complimentary copy of this book and am willingly offering this honest review.

Yesterday’s Tide, by Roseanna M. White, is a dual time novel. Set in the outer banks of North Carolina and in London, while spanning WWI and WWII, Yesterday’s Tide is rich in details and characters. In each timeline, White sets a young woman, who finds love when a visitor arrives at the family-run inn. The characters are vividly drawn, beginning in 1914, with Louisa and Rem. In the 1942 timeline, Evie and Sterling are more than a romantic pairing. They are also linked with the events of 1914 and the Great War and the events of 1942 WWII.

In the concluding notes of this novel, White explains the research she completed while vacationing on the Outer Banks. Many of the events in Yesterday’s Tide are based on real events. The fictionalized parts of the story do not stray too far from the history of those two wars. As is true for many novels based on historical fiction, White does a good job merging the real with the fiction. There are mysteries and enough family drama to satisfy most readers. There are a few places where Yesterday’s Tide dragged a bit, but those places tended to offer up extra details that many readers will cherish and enjoy.

While some readers might label Yesterday’s Tide as a Christian novel, in truth, the amount of referencing to prayer and God is minimal and will not overwhelm most readers. Many people pray for guidance or for help during moments of trial or fear. I am not a fan of overly Christianized novels, and that is not what Yesterday’s Tide is. Instead, White's novel is simply a good read, with descriptions of war and family drama, some mystery, and some mentions of God. I rate this novel with 4.5 stars.

I want to thank Both author and publishers for providing this ARC for me to read and review. This review is my honest opinion of Yesterday’s Tide. Thank you also to NetGalley for providing me with this ARC.

Yesterday’s Tide is the new dual time standalone novel by Roseanna M White. Set in the outer banks of North Carolina spanning WWI and WWII. I’m not going to lie I loved the WWII setting more than the WWI. While I loved both Evie and Louisa equally as they both were strong heroines in their own right, in which the reader will find out in the end. I do not want to give anything away. However, I’m not going to lie I spent the majority of the book not liking the 1914 hero Remington Culbreth that started to change around chapter 23. However, Sterling Bertrand stole my heart from the beginning.

White does an awesome job of keeping the dual storyline separate and not spoiling either timeline. Till the right moment when both stories come together, and the reader sees how they connect. Which keeps the reader turning the page to find out what happens.

While this one is a standalone novel there are cameos of characters from Roseanna’s previous series. So, there could be slight spoilers to previous series. But to me it just added to the story. Loved seeing characters from the Shadows over England, The Codebreaker series, and The Culper Ring. As Yesterdays Tide kind of connects the three series and the way Roseanna did it is brilliant.

I recommend reading at least The Culper Ring and The Codebreakers series first.

I was absolutely enthralled with Roseanna M. White’s epic time-slip novel, “Yesterday’s Tides.” White was masterful with this time-slip between the current WWII storyline and yesterday’s Great War plot. Each jump between timelines was equal parts cliffhanger and excitement to get back to the other timeline and see how that subplot was moving along.

This book is jam-packed with action as well as intricate details & carefully woven connections between characters. I often went back to make sure I was not imagining names overlapping until some of the mystery was revealed about how the two plots were intertwined. I knew they had to be and I enjoyed the subtle clues as the story went on. The action side of things actually surprised me - I was not anticipating such a thriller in the middle of my romantic war story! I loved the growing mystery and I will never tire of codebreaking themes so this was a winner for me.

Readers should know this is considered a Christian romance historical fiction thriller. I would say that is a great description - it is all of those things! I do think the racial themes in the story could have used even more sensitivity - I know we are talking about factual historical attitudes, but a couple of times I noted that a biracial character was relieved or hopeful that their own child wouldn’t obviously have Black relatives. It was a bit jarring though I know the author did have a sensitivity reader to give feedback on racial prejudice. I also do not often seek out Christian titles though I could appreciate the faith based and prayerful lives of the characters. I definitely enjoyed this book and will be checking out the author’s backlist titles (which all apparently appear as Easter eggs in this stand alone story). I think fans of Susan Meissner, Kate Quinn, & Ariel Lawhon would enjoy “Yesterday’s Tides” which is out now!

Timeslip Christian Historical largely set in Ocracoke Island on the NC Outer Banks. In WW2 it was where “Torpedo Junction” was and English fishing vessels were turned into protectors for America’s East Coast. It timeslips with families in WW1. There are many twists and turns and mysteries that are interesting to unravel, and wonderful characters to get attached to. I didn't want it to end.

Well, mark this day in history, because I actually just enjoyed a split-time book! I had given up on ever enjoying one and even took a break from being on Roseanna White's launch team for this one because I was afraid I wouldn't like it and wouldn't be able to recommend it enthusiastically. But I still wanted to read it because I love her books and this one promised to overlap with a few of my favorite books of hers and I didn't want to miss that. I'm so glad I gave it a chance because I absolutely loved it! I didn't mind the story jumping from one time to the other like I usually do because I cared equally about all the characters.

I received a complimentary electronic copy of this book from NetGalley, but I'll be buying a paperback to add to my collection asap!

What an amazing dual timeline novel set between WWI and WWII in the Outer Banks of North Carolina! It captivated me from page one until the end and I had a hard time putting down my book for getting sleep or my work done. It was that good!
It’s 1942, plain WWII, and Evie Farrow, now used to her ordinary life on Ocracoke Island, discovers a man washed ashore near her family’s Inn after the Bedfordshire Ship is sank by German U-boats. Nurturing him back to health, Evie’s life is turned upside down. This mysterious man turns out to be a Secret Agent for the British Intelligence, who is tracking down an SS German Officer. Somehow, Evie knows she can trust him and that her help in his mission might prove important. But Sterling Bertram, even though he feels attracted to the woman who nursed him back to health, is not sure if he can really trust her. She’s hiding secrets, and has been receiving mysterious telegrams that could mean she might be working for the enemy. Can they really trust each other?
Many years earlier, in 1914, Englishman Remington Culbreth arrives at Ocracoke Island with his cousin to spend a leisurely summer. As a second son of a Baron, his father expects him to enlist for the army, as soon as he returns to England. What he never expects is to fall in love with sweet, hardworking Louisa Adair, the innkeeper’s daughter, who can fix almost anything in need of repair. That is, excerpt his heart, because he’s falling hard. But is their love even possible when society and his family expect a better match for him? When war breaks out, things get more than complicated, with family drama and their love completely against all odds. Will they have a chance for a future together, or is war going to kill all their dreams with its loss and devastation everywhere?
As I said, this was an amazingly beautiful novel that kept me completely engaged! The plot is so interesting, very historical and realistic, with many twists and turns that kept me guessing until the last page. The switching between eras flowed seamlessly. There’s a mystery about the SS officer hiding in the Island that intrigued me. Also, there’s a lot of family drama that kept me rooting for each of the character’s struggles, which were many. The characters are so endearing and lovable, and not only the main characters. I loved the whole crew of the Ocracoke Inn: Gran, Grandma See (loved how they communicated through sign language), and Grandma Ree were so endearing and such a loving family to Evie. Celeste’s story at the end was so touching. I fell in love with this tight knit group of fierce and loving women. And the main characters: Evie and Sterling, Louisa and Remington, I also fell in love with them. Loved their different personalities, particularly Evie’s loving nature since she was a child. Their story was so heart-wrenching at times, so romantic at others, so relatable that I felt their plights as if they were mine! I have to say that I shed a few tears. I felt their heartache, their loss, and also their joys. But the story was so full of hope, especially because the characters had God and trusted Him. I loved how Evie prayed so much for all her loved ones, and even for strangers, and how she linked her prayers to the pieces of sea glass she found at the shore. Each piece represented a person she prayed for. I’ve always loved sea glass, and love art myself, so I felt so related to Evie and her crafts of sea glass jewelry. Also, there was a message of hope and faith at how God is still the sovereign and loves us, in spite of our sins. How there’s always good in the world, amidst the bad and ugly. And while God respects our freedom, it’s humbling how He also uses mankind as instruments to making His will done on earth. This can be seen perfectly in this story.
There’s a lot of intrigue, which made this book a page turner. And it keeps you guessing for a while as to how the family links from one era to the other. It’s exciting to be discovering tidbits here and there, like solving a puzzle. Also, there are a lot of details and descriptions that make it easy to imagine the whole scenery. The author has a beautiful writing style. And the romances between the two couple of main characters was so sweet and endearing!
I also loved revisiting with loving characters from previous books by the author: from the Shadows Over England and The Codebreakers Series. Even Sheridan from The Secrets of the Isles Series! Brought good memories to my mind.
All in all, a fantastic historical romance that will tug at all the strings of your heart! I vividly recommend it!

Heartrending family drama across two wartime generations unravels in this split-time historical romance.

Both stories take place mostly on Okrakoke Island, North Carolina and feature two strong women, Evie Farrow (1942) and Louisa Adair (1914). In the beginning I’d get a little mixed up between the timelines, but that didn’t keep me from wanting to read on.

There’s a lot going on behind this gorgeous cover, but it’s all so exciting! I couldn’t wait to see how everything came together. If you’ve read Roseanna’s other books, you’ll love seeing several characters make appearances here.

So much to love: diverse characters, spies, secret messages, island life, heartbreak, healing, sacrifice, and faith woven throughout.

Yesterday’s Tides is Roseanna M. White’s best novel yet – and that’s saying something! She is a master craftsman of the surprise, the symbolic, the deep – and I love how she ties so many of these elements together in unexpected ways in this story.

That kept happening with this one. I mean, unless you’re reading Nicholas Sparks, where someone always seems to die tragically, with most romance-type books the cool people get together, right? Yet Yesterday’s Tides doesn’t fit that pattern. It kept me on my toes all the way through the book, not only about who would end up together, but also about the big picture, the subplots, and so much more. I wasn’t confused, but I was actively trying to figure out what was going to happen – and it was good. White drew me in and totally engaged me with the story, the setting, and her characters.

White’s notorious for examining an issue from every perspective in her books. I love the way that she helps readers wrestle with big ideas right along with her characters, and typically that occurs in beautiful, lyrical lines that jump off the page and beg to be highlighted. In Yesterday’s Tides, she handles it a bit differently. I feel that there are still big ideas that are being looked at carefully, but more than ever, the reader is doing this through the eyes of the characters. It’s much more subtle, and while I love that other style, I’m still finding myself pondering the issues long after turning the last page.

Books that draw me in and take me away and then make me think before sending me back home are the best ones, I think. They provide an escape but also a lesson, some wisdom and beauty to add to your life. White excels at this, too, but that’s not even the most exciting thing about this particular story, because if you’ve read any of her others, there’s something else you need to know.

White hid Easter eggs in Yesterday’s Tides for all of her other series/standalones! They’re fantastic! All of her story worlds collide in this one novel, in one way or another, and it happens naturally and wonderfully and made me want to sit up and clap. If you haven’t read the others, you won’t miss anything; but if you have, those mentions will add extra joy to your day.

So put Yesterday’s Tides on your TBR list, or better yet, pre-order it now so you can start reading it on Tuesday, when it releases; and then when you’re done, let’s talk – because this is one book you won’t be ready to close for good.

How in the world do I even begin to review this wonderful novel!? Yesterday’s Tides is a remarkable feat of writing. I cannot imagine how the author managed to keep everything straight but managed to tie characters from several of her previous series to the characters in this book. Somehow I had missed the notice that she was doing that so every time I ran across a familiar name, it was a delightful surprise.

Yesterday’s Tides is a dual time novel that features characters from both World War 1 and the early days of World War 2. In this story readers will find secret agents, secret codes, and characters with their own secrets as well as a bit of adventure, danger, and of course romance. With the beautiful yet mysterious setting of Ocracoke Island, who could ask for more?

With every book I read by Roseanna M. White, I believe it is her best one yet. The books keep getting better and I do not plan to miss a one of them.

Rather than risk spoilers, I strongly encourage you to pick up a copy as soon as you can lay your hands on one. Better yet, read all of White’s previous series so that you can be as delightfully surprised as I was.

Wow! This author is one of my favorites, and I thought this novel was one of her best! I loved the dual timeline and the way the two stories intersected and came together. There were even twists and turns that I did not see coming, which kept me engaged and reading long into the night on more than one occasion. I loved the strong female leads and their courage. There were even a few cameos of characters from her other novels! The faith thread is solid and well integrated. The history was also well researched and fascinating. Honestly, there was nothing about this book that I did not like! This is definitely a novel that I will be rereading. I cannot recommend this book enough!

This split time novel between 1942 and 1914 is gripping, romantic and faith filled. Our story takes place in Ocracoke Island which I had never heard of before but looked up more information when I finished the story. The 1942 part of the story we find Evie and her family running her Inn when Sterling is washed ashore. Intrigue ensues when he's found out to be a special agent. Through out this time period we are given clues to the 1914 timeline with Remington and Louisa and the connection they have with Evie. I especially liked Remington and Louisa's relationship and was really rooting for them!

The past - a treasury of untold stories, unbearable pains, unforgettable loves,...
Such are the stories of our heroines Evie and Louisa, two young girls, with hopes and wishes for happiness during the war. One during the First World War, and the other during the Second World War...
Same place, the same desires, and two completely different stories that are somehow connected...

Through the pages, you will get to know the gentle and good-natured Evie, who, by a play of fate, will meet an injured special agent who will capture her heart. Then you will go back in time where you will meet the brave Louisa, whose heart will flutter when she meets the charming Englishman... Love will slowly grow, but in wartime is it allowed to hope for a happy ending?

If you are one of those who like to travel through the written word in the past, then by all means do not miss this book.
A book that, with its well-thought-out descriptions, will take you on a journey through two different periods in the past, that are so similar at the same time. Excellent plot, perfect pace, fascinating characters and two touching stories are more than enough to draw you into their world and not let you go until the very end...

An excellent choice for all lovers of historical fiction, spiced with enough romance to make your heart melt.

If a book was to be judged by the intensity of emotion it aroused in its reader, this book would, and should, receive the highest of accolades. Sometimes I had to pause in my reading just to reduce the level of angst the story created. It was difficult to not give in to the temptation to turn to the last couple of chapters to assure myself that everything worked out at the end and the characters got their well-deserved happily-ever-after. I would never steal from you the opportunity to feel all the feels that come with reading this book, so will say nothing further other than to give this book my highest recommendation. I have read just about all of Roseanna White’s books, and they continue to impress me time and time again. But I must say that her latest, Yesterday’s Tides, might just be my all time favorite. A time slip novel between the world wars, White impressively crafts a story of love lost, of a fight for truth, and of a mystery of dangerous proportions that pulls readers into a plot that will not let go.

I deeply felt this book. The characters entranced me, and the masterful thematic weaving of yesterday’s pain healing the lives of today was beautifully poignant.

An entrancing read that will resonate within your heart. I highly recommend this book!

Oh, this book took me on a ride, not wild, but heart-stuttering and fabulous. This book is a stand-alone, splitting time between 1914 and 1942. I will admit I (my fault) was struggling to get into the story. I kept trying to read a couple chapters at a time. I realized that was the reason I was having a hard time getting into it! After realizing that I sat down and just read, I couldn’t stop. It pulled me in and did not let go. I was laughing and crying at parts! I LOVED getting glimpses of old friends. Seeing where they are in life and I’m just going to say Georgie Pearce! So good to see him!
Again, it’s a stand-alone, but there are characters from four other series that are mentioned or are in the story. You won’t miss anything if you haven’t read the other series, but for those of us that have it’s like a wave from friends.
Some of the themes in this book were sad, but life sometimes is sad. One of my favorite quotes from the book was;
“That’s the best way, I think, to handle what life throws at us. Grab hold of it. Make whatever we can with whatever pieces we have.”

I personally love a great historical fiction novel. This one fits the bill and takes it a step higher in that it’s a historical fiction novel with a dual timeline that takes you through both the Great War (World War I) and WWII. Each story follows a set of characters but they are somehow entwined with each other. I can’t tell you how or I’d give it all away! But do know it’s amazing!

The setting for both books is primarily on Ocracoke Island. This is one of the outer banks islands. I can’t say that I had ever heard of or done a lot of research on this island before I read this book but now I’ve learned loads and looked up even more.

In this story you follow Evie who happens to find a special agent ( Sterling Bertrand) washed ashore. She works to save him and keep him alive as well as learn his story and why he’s here. While also hiding her secrets from him. War is raging, U-Boats are off their shores and Sterling is on a mission he doesn’t share all of. They each have their secrets. Can they trust each other and help each other or will they work against each other?

For the dual timeline portion we head back to the first World War on the same islands with a different set of characters. It’s just before war starts and an Englishman happens to be staying at the inn. Remington finds himself drawn to the innkeepers daughter Louisa. But she has secrets of her own and the war will wait for no one.

There is so much suspense in here and intertwining and also just some great romance as well. Throw in the fact that somewhere along the line the characters come together. I can’t share too much because I don’t want to give it away.

It’s so hard to find a good book with clean romance plus lots of mystery and suspense on the market today. Roseanna M White always writes ones that fit the bill. It’s why I always look forward to her new books coming out. I’m already hoping that this one will have a sequel because I’m going to need to know more of Celeste’s story.

Please do yourself a favor and grab a copy of this book. You’re going to love it! It also brings in some cameos of other books and characters that Roseanna wrote about the Great War and the Codebreakers. I’m in love with them and loved getting to say hello to them again.

How do I even begin a review for this absolutely incredible book? Not much got done yesterday, I can tell you that. I read it all in one day.
We visit the Outer Banks in North Carolina several times a year and was so excited to see this took place there in Ocracoke Island, NC. I have been reading this author's books for years and she is an automatic read. I cannot resist her books. Her other books have been fabulous, I've loved them all but with this one she's totally blown it out of the water.
Taking place in two time periods, 1918 and 1942, it's always a treat to read a book taking place in multiple time periods with multiple points of view.
There is so much happening in each time period.
This historical fiction starts out in 1942 and I learned so much about this time period.
I found it fascinating to learn about the HMT Bedfordshire an armed naval ship in the service of the Royal Naval Patrol during WWII. It was sunk by the German submarine U-558 on May 11, 1942, off the coast of Ocracoke Island. It was staffed by British and Canadien crew.
Fascinating history switching between WWI era and WWII time periods the thread runs with the same family and includes not able to put it down action, heart-wrenching family drama, suspense and romance. There is a mixed-race relationship that leads to racism and discrimination which the author deals with carefully and respectfully.
I loved the book and am eagerly awaiting what this author puts out next.
