Definitely grateful for this resource! I've struggled for years with executive functioning deficits, as I was diagnosed as an adult with ADHD 10 years ago, but I see now that I've struggled since childhood. As primarily inattentive type, I've definitely looked forward to this workbook.
Executive Functioning Workbook for Adults is a well organized roadmap to help someone understand and take action to improve each of the nine core executive functions. I could see this workbook being extremely valuable to a teen or young adult struggling with executive function skills, in particular those with ADHD. The workbook includes information on each skill, a self assessment, strategies and a customized action plan that the reader put together with tue workbook. I read this on a color tablet which I would recommend if you’re not able to get the paperback version since the color coding organizes the book well. The book is not too dense and has the perfect level of detail for someone who already struggles with focus and planning. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for giving me a chance to read the book in exchange for my honest opinion.
The Executive Functioning Workbook for Adults is an easy to access tool to help the readers assess their executive functioning in 9 areas with suggested exercises/methods to improve in any needed areas. The workbook allows for the reader to be largely self directed which will appeal to many readers.
The flip side of easy to access is that the book is. bit simplistic so readers looking for an in depth understanding could be disappointed. All in all an interesting toolkit for folks who are needing a brush up in some areas.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Executive Function is an incredibly important tool for everyone, and it can be hard to know how to work on it if you have issues (ADHD or otherwise). This book presents a no-nonsense, non-shaming, informative series of exercises and reflections on how to manage the nine aspects of executive function. I really enjoyed reading this and I was able to take a lot of good information away from this book and apply it to my life.
If you have picked this book up to read you most likely know what Executive Functioning is and whether or not you have a problem with it. EF is described as the ability to get organized, plan ahead, and stay focused. The workbook lists strategies to help adults who struggle with this, and it's encouraging to know that this issue can be worked with. Recommended for any adult who could use help in these areas. Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC.
