Unfortunately, the format was so bad that it was really difficult to read. Otherwise I would have probably enjoyed the book.
A completely addicting inventive story with compelling characters and a twisty plot line. It was impossible to predict the next turn. I couldn't put it down.
Thank you to netgalley.com and the publisher for sending me a free copy of this book. I am leaving this review voluntarily.
I'm not sure how I got approved for this book since it seems to only be available in the UK and I'm not in the UK.
This book starts out with a startling accident as a body falls from an overpass onto Janice's car, putting her in hospital. When the police won't give her many details about the young woman who crashed onto her car, Janice decides to do some digging herself. She says she wants to give the young woman's family closure.
Of course once she identifies Sunny as the girl, things start to spiral down a weird path. The lines between who Sunny was, who may have killed her and what Janice is involving herself in all becomes blurred together and I start to wonder about Janice and why she is really getting involved in this.
I started to lose interest about 1/3 of the way in, Janice seemed off the rails but not in a way that held my attention. Maybe I just like a more sinister read. There is some crazy stuff that happens in this book and there is plenty of mystery surrounding Sunny and Janice. I don't know if I fully understand the motives of Janice other than she seems a bit lonely and lost. Either way I did wind up finishing it but it just wasn't for me.
A brilliant well written book that I could just not leave down , such a fantastic story that left you guessing right to the end but a really good ending that explained everything that unfolded throughout the book . Brilliant characters that were so well written about you felt you were in their lives with them . A brilliant story told with many a shock and a wow as you read chapter after chapter not wanting to leave it down. I would really recommend this book as a must read.
This was not my cup of tea. I couldn't get into the story and did not care for the characters. It was slow and yet I found myself confused and missing things.
This book started out at an advantage because it came with an interesting storyline. It was an easy read but one I wished never ended. I found myself skipping sleep, and not doing chores because I wanted to continue reading. This book. The female protagonist was such an interesting character II wanted to unravel every detail I could about her. An equally well thought out and written novel.. After finishing the book I find myself still thinking about parts of it and hoping someone decides to bring it to the screens as a movie.
This was an enjoyable read that was well written with a compelling storyline and well developed characters. for me this book was all about Janice because I just couldn't work her out. Just when I think I had her sussed another twist blew everything I thought I knew out of the water. I couldn't put it down because I had to know.
Janice Thompson is involved in an accident where a girl drops off a bridge onto her car and then tries to find out who the girl is and more about her life. For me, this was a very slow book and hard to get into.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you NetGalley, Julia Stone and Orion Books for hearing my honest review. Looking forward to reading more with you

So I do feel like the main character clearly had some major issues and this wasn't the most normal course of a turns hut hey, it's fiction so who cares and it made our an awesome read! Everything about the plot and the characters were really unique and the book just felt so fresh and new overall. It was refreshing to have no idea where the plot was going to go next and to not feel like I could see what was coming from 50 pages ahead. I really enjoyed it!
Intriguing mystery….difficult to decide if the main character is a delusional, deliberately diabolical evil lady or is merely a sweet, misunderstood, simple lady. Either way, her scheming and meddling after a horrible accident is terrifying and makes this novel difficult to put down.
Thanks to NetGalley and Orion Dash for the opportunity to read this absorbing ARC.
The Accident by Julia Stone.
The police ruled it as misadventure. A young woman falling from a bridge onto Janice Thomason's car was not an act of suicide or murder, it's just an accident. But for Janice, it feels like fate has thrown them together. As a genealogist, Janice is used to tracking down clues - is even a little obsessive, one might say... The police know so little about the Jane Doe that fell on her car that she decides to start her own investigation into the victim and the people she knew. Surely someone must be to blame? Sometimes the only way to uncover the truth is to lie... and for Janice, living a lie comes all to.
Very good read. I loved the cover. Great story and plot. 4*.
Janice Thomason is a genealogist and a Walter Mitty character. Following an accident where a girl falls from a bridge onto her car, dying instantly. Janice sets about trying to find out who the young person was, as the police obviously aren't interested.
Using her research talents she is able to identify the girl. She then assumes a new role as Sonya to infiltrate the life of the victim.
None of the characters were particularly likeable. I also found the subject of feeding of others grief quite uncomfortable. Many times i wanted to put the book down but just wanted to find out what happened to the girl on the bridge so skim read 50%
Many thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to see an ARC.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the free e-arc in exchange for an honest review.
Unfortunately, this one was a DNF for me. I felt like we were dropped into the story very abruptly, and started the book with very little information about the main character or the accident that is the central focus of the book. It made it hard to connect with the main character, and I just did not care about her or the mystery she was trying to solve. I found that I just couldn’t get into this one, and unfortunately, I will not be continuing it.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Onion Dash and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
Secrets, mystery and intrigue outline this page turner.
a good read that makes anxious to read more from this author
thank you to the publisher and netgalley for this ARC in exchange for my honest review
I did not enjoy the writing style of this book at all. It was very choppy and hard to understand. There were also a lot of grammar issues I noticed
I loved everything about this book. The main character.....wow! I went through every emotion with her. A sad figure with an awful overbearing mother, a compulsive liar, a caring person wanting to help and also someone who wanted a normal life. I also found myself laughing out loud.
A fabulously written drama, i look forward to reading more from this author.
My thanks to netgalley and the publisher for my advanced copy.
Thoroughly enjoyed every page.
Mystery and intrigue…friendship…secrets…after a body falls on her car, the main character tries to discover the identity of the person. The police do not want her help but she perseveres. She searches. In the meantime, she keeps the bracelet that fell from the body when it hit her car. This is a book of mystery and intrigue written by a talented author. This book was sent to me electronically by Netgalley for review. Although the story moves slowly at times, it comes to a resounding end.
