This is such a fantastic read, I didn't really know much about this book before I went in and so I don't want to say too much as I want others to have that experience too. I crtied so much whilst reading this book but also felt weirdly uplifted too.
Reading the synopsis of The Notekeeper did not prepare me for what this book this actually was. I found it to be so well written and such a good story and love the important representation that hospice care was given. I won't go into too much detail don't want to give away the story but be prepared for an emotional ride there will be tears but it'll be worth it. I want to thank NetGalley and Canelo for the digital arc of this novel in exchange for an honest review.
This is a beautiful story about not just surviving, but in living life and loving again. Sadly I felt that the book dragged this story out too much, and felt that some of the main characters were not as fleshed out as they could be,
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
I knew, KNEW, that this book was going to bring the tears, but it was worth it! What a heartbreakingly beautiful read about love, loss, and hope.
Zoe fled Australia for the UK. She is a hospice worker and knows the importance of last words. She soon becomes “the notekeeper” and writes down patients final words to then pass down to their loved ones. She also tries to find her own happiness again.
This book was well written, emotional, and so incredibly heartwarming. I look forward to reading more from Hannah Treave!

A beautiful story of loss and love and learning to live again. A heartwarming tearjerker! Highly recommended.
The Note Keeper was bitter sweet. About care nurse in Bath England. Who cares for patients at the end of their life. What I loved about this one was that she took the time help them write their final thoughts and made sure that their loved ones. However as these books go these books don't always go as planned. But if they did then well wouldn't have a story. A sweet story and a little bit of romance. But have tissues handy.
Zoe has moved from Australia to Bath in the UK to be a nurse at a hospice. She left behind her husband and brought only the memories of her old life. For me, this book fell a little flat. It was ok, just nothing exciting. Thanks to author Hannah Treave, Canelo, and NetGalley. I received a complimentary copy of this ebook. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.
This book was sad in a beautiful way, Its definitely something to pick up when you need a good cry. It had a beautiful message and Im happy I read it!
This is one for when you need a good cry.
Zoe has fled Australia, leaving behind her husband and a terribly heartbreak she cannot face.
Now a permanent resident of Bath, she is a nurse at a hospice and focuses on helping people share their final messages through notes.
When a new owner takes over the hospice and he brings in a new manager to change things up, her feathers are decidedly ruffled.
But then a new love begins to bloom. He pushes Zoe to make peace with her past, but then a new tragedy strikes.
This book is a wonderful, uplifting yet sad, gentle story of a young hospice nurse.
Zoe fled from Australia following a life changing trauma and runs to the UK.
She knows the importance of "last words" and their significance to those left behind, as family and friends who are terminal prepare to make their journey forward.
Zoe becomes the notekeeper and secretary in a sense, to take down these words from her patients and deliver them to the survivors in due time.
Once changes come to this special facility, Zoe meets a fellow nurse who can teach her to find happiness when she is ready. Will she ever be ready?
"This is literally all the time we have, None of know if there's something on the other end of this so maybe I need to start living a bit more."
As a hospice nurse myself, this is spot on!
We should all wish for a Zoe in our lives to help us on our journey! Excellent!
Thank you to #NetGalley and to #Canelo for this beautiful ARC and allowing me to read and give my review.
The Notekeeper by Hannah Treave
Following a tragedy, Zoe flees Australia and makes a life for herself in the UK. Two years later, working as a care nurse in Bath and knowing just how much comfort last words can bring, Zoe has taken it upon herself to become a notekeeper - writing down the final thoughts of her patients and delivering them to their loved ones.
Zoe’s new boss, Ben, isn’t happy about her getting so involved in the patients’ lives.
A brilliant idea for a book , a heart warming read.
Great characters , especially Zoe with her gentle soul wanting to give those that are dying the opportunity to say via a letter what they are unable to say face to face.
A book that stay with me for long while.
I absolutely lives this book. It had alot of parrallels to me. It makes you wonder what a great idea in writing letters to comfort loved ones.
This was a surprisingly warm and uplifting read about Zoe, who fled her native Australia after a family tragedy and has settled in Bristol and is now working in a hospice there. Zoe offers the patients an opportunity to write a letter to their loved ones for her to pass on after their death but when Ben, her new manager, stops her doing this it causes tension between them.
Zoe has a great backstory and there are other great characters too including Zoe’s flatmate, her colleagues and some of the patients and their family. Despite the hospice setting this is full of positivity and whilst death is a regular theme at the hospice the staff do well at making a happy place. That said there are some sad storylines in amongst this but overall it’s a lovely heartwarming read, 9/10
