Thank you so much for giving us Owlcrate readers a little bonus! I really enjoyed this as I have all your writing.
This was so intriguing and definitely not enough!
This does exactly what a book needs to do in its first few pages - it pulls you in, getting you excited, making you feel a tiny bit, just enough for you to want to read more, to HAVE to read more!
The writing feels so eerie and magical, it sets the ambiance and the creepy feeling that I'm guessing is exactly what Lyndall wants!
The magic system is so interesting, I definitely want to learn more about it! Using bones as armor, blood for magic, so many incredible layers to this magic system!
I don't know why I waited this long to read this sneak peek, I didn't even remember downloading it, and especially I don't know why I waited this long to read something by Lyndall Clipstone!
I think it's time to purchase this book, that now, more than a year later, I know is Unholy Terrors, and also I own Lakesedge and it's in my 24 books in 2024 list, I'm thinking maybe I move it up my TBR lmao!
I'm 100% going to be continuing this, and I have a feeling this could be a 5 star read!
This was a great sneak preview received as a gift from Owlcrate due to an issue with a special edition purchase.
I’ve tried to get through this excerpt many times and it just did not hold my interest. It was reminding me too much of ‘Seven Faceless Saints’ vibes which I also didn’t enjoy. It didn’t make me want to pick up this book. It feels like a lot of YA books are kind of going in a similar direction of “dark” world building but it’s YA dark and I just don’t have any interest in it. I don’t particularly like to pick up adult dark books either but YA ones just feel like they playing at being dark and are all about vibes and less about an actual plot.
Got an arc of the first four chapters and ready for more. The first chapter gives a glimpse of the monsters and the magic that is used to fend them off. Everline was born to a warden, but doesn't have the blood magic. What she does have is the ability to make bone armor and a mystery regarding her mother..
I can not wait for this book to come out. This sneak peek was not enough for me and I need more NOW….please.
LC is the queen of monster stories and I adore all her books. I love the dark gothic settings and this book is not disappointing. I can't wait to read it when it comes out.
Oooo
A great little taste of what's to come. Can't wait to pick this one up and And see the cover for it.
Once again Lyndell Clipstone is placing the reader in a hauntingly atmospheric world. The clip provided is following Everline, a warrior sworn to guard against monsters. Everline also holds a secret that pushes her away from the other vespertine. I have a lot of questions I look forward to seeing where this story goes!
Thank you Owlcrate and publishers for sending this sneak peak of Clipstone's Unholy Terrors.
Great bonus sneak peek! Not sure what all is going on yet, but I'm for sure here for gals in cool armor. Can't wait for Clipstone's next book. :D
this was a free preview received from Owl crate. It didn't really give me enough to feel one way or another really. But what little there was was atmospheric and descriptive. It does seem like a story I would love to read in the future.
So excited for this book to come out! The four chapters weren’t enough I was left eagerly awaiting the res rod the book when it releases this year!
Thanks to NetGalley, OwlCrate, and Lyndall for the sneak preview of this upcoming book! OwlCrate teamed up with Lyndall to get a sneak preview because of delays with the production of Forestfall, which was very nice of them! I've been a fan of Lyndall since Lakesedge, and I am very excited about this next novel. Can't wait to pick it up later this year.
A great teaser I can't wait to see what the whole book has in store!! This little sniper has me dying to read the blurb and see what the title it.
An intriguing start, filled with magic and sibling rivalry, definitely one to keep an eye out for in 2023.
This little sneak peak has me wanting more! The dark gothic tones start right off the bat and are true to who this author is. I am excited about this storyline and where it will go!
It's difficult for me to rate this since it's only the first few chapters but it sounds promising. Honestly from what I read this sounds much better than Lakesedge
I received an e-arc of the first four chapters through a purchase with OwlCrate.
I loved what I’ve read so far. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again - Lyndall Clipstone is the queen of gothic prose! I love everything she writes, it’s so gorgeous and dark and beautiful.
I can’t wait to read more of this story. I’m even more thrilled for it now!
I'm glad I got to read a preview of this on NetGalley (which I received from OwlCrate with my "Forestfall" exclusive edition). I actually liked this preview for this book a LOT better than I liked the "Lakesedge/Foresfall" duology by this author. It's still pretty dark and heavy, but from the 4 chapters in the preview, I liked the concept and the story line so much better. If I hadn't had a free preview and based off my (extremely horrible) experience with the duology, I probably would have steered very, very, very clear of this book, but I will give the author a second chance when this book comes out after reading this preview!!
I almost wish I hadn't read this excerpt because how am I supposed to wait until fall 2023? I got hooked even though there's only four chapters.
The premise was interesting. It reminds me a tiny bit of Sorcery of Thorns by Margaret Rogerson. Both female leads are part of a strict order and have dedicated their life to protecting humans from magical creatures and much like Elisabeth, Everline struggles with feeling like an outsider.
I'm excited to see where this book decides to go. I very much want answers to the questions raised about Everline's mom so I just have to hope fall 2023 come quickly!
Thank you Macmillan Children's Publishing Group, NetGalley, and Owlcrate for this sneak peek!
