In Carol Ericson’s Dockside Danger, the third installment in The Lost Girls romantic suspense series, this caper had plenty of heat, romantic suspense, and twists and turns. For LAPD Detective Jane Falco, it all started for her when she landed a complicated domestic case. She had recently been given a hard time at the LAPD, since everyone knew about how she goes through her partners. And she hoped her partner, Damon Carter, would work out for her. But at the crime scene, she’s reunited with her former flame, FBI Agent Tim Ruskin. Tim couldn’t believe his luck when he ran into Jane after she formerly had known him as his undercover name as Terry Rush in a previous case. Together, they work on a case to locate missing and trafficked Russian women and investigate the Bratva connection. Though the heat was on, and the chemistry between them was cranked up a notch, someone wanted to do more than rattle Jane’s cage. In the end, they took down the bad guys in a fierce battle of life-and-death.
This scintillating romantic suspense has a compelling fast-paced plot. I cared for Jane, who had more than her fair share at work and in romance. I also cared for Tim, who wanted to find Lana and bring her home safely. The scenic settings for Los Angeles were idealistic and picturesque for the location. The dual themes of the story is give love a second chance, while greed could lead you to danger.
I rated this sexy romantic suspense novel, four of five stars, for no reason. If you love heated romantic suspense novels with non-stop dramatic action, and plenty of sizzling, heart-pounding suspense, Dockside Danger is one to read this year. This book is recommended for fans of Karen Rose, Lisa Jackson, and Lisa Gardner.

Ericson's writing is fast-paced and filled with suspenseful twists and turns, making it difficult to put the book down. The characters are well-developed and their chemistry is palpable. Jane is LAPD doesnt appreciate seeing her ex FBI agent Tim keeps popping up on a case she's looking into. When she realizes that there might be a connection to something bigger they find themselves working together to stop a human trafficking ring and fight that attraction that seems to never have left.
I really enjoyed this book. I love when a book can keep me on my toes with plenty to keep me hooked. I couldn't help but root for the two to figure things out and seeing a bit of that attraction the two had because even after Tim broke her heart Jane really liked him and there was clearly something still there between the two. I enjoyed following along and the twists and turns continuously surprising me. Overall great book I really enjoyed it.
Terrific continuation of the series. Here we have Jane, a recent transfer into this division of the LAPD. An unpleasant reputation has followed her to her new position, and she is stuck dealing with "domestic" situations instead of sinking her teeth into meatier cases. Having a partner, Damon, who is rarely there, doesn't help. When she suspects her latest case is not the open-and-shut one everyone thinks it is, she's determined to find the truth. Matters become complicated when FBI agent Tim Ruskin intrudes on her investigation.
Jane and Tim have a history. They met and had a relationship when he was undercover, and she didn't react well when she discovered his deception. Once someone has broken her trust, it isn't easy to get it back. But when she learns that her murder victim may be tied to a Russian-mob-backed human trafficking ring, she'll take a chance on working with him.
I liked watching the rekindling of the relationship between Jane and Tim. He has missed their closeness and chemistry and wants to be together again, and Jane is wary and prefers to keep him at arm's length. Working with each other to solve the case allows Tim to show Jane how he feels and to earn her trust again. Jane is reluctant to risk her heart on him again, but the sparks between them are hard to deny. It doesn't take long for Jane to realize that her feelings for Tim had never died, despite the betrayal she felt. But they must survive their investigation before they can see what the future holds for them.
The suspense of the story was excellent. It started slowly as the background developed, but it took off when Jane and Tim began working together. There are questions about whether the victim was a pawn or a player and her link to the trafficking ring. Every clue they uncover seems to lead to more questions and an unexpected development. As their investigation narrows in on the ringleader, the danger to them intensifies. Flying bullets and being run off the road indicate they are on the right track. I liked the teamwork Jane and Tim exhibited and their respect for each other's abilities. The final confrontation was a nail-biter with its twists and turns as they raced against time to save a group of women destined to be shipped out of the country.
I also enjoyed seeing characters from previous books make appearances. JMac from the Kyra and Jake series encourages Jane, and Billy also gets his two cents in. I'm looking forward to the final book in this series as Billy finally gets his story and his dearest wish.
This was an entertaining, well-written book. It was action-packed, steamy, fast moving and held my interest. I wanted to keep reading to find out what would happen next and how it would turn out. This book can be read as a standalone story, though it is book 3 in the Lost Girls series. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more books in this series as well as other books by this author.
Dockside Danger is a well written romantic suspense. Fantastic edge of your seat page turner. I definitely recommend this book. My thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for my advance ebook. This is my unbiased review.
Drama and mystery throughout! With the third book in The Lost Girls series Ericson is bringing a fling back together again to reunite and solve the crime of a lifetime as danger lurks around every corner.
Jane is self-assured and good at her job. She doesn't take any gruff off of the men she works with day in and day out and she doesn't plan to let the one man who got under her skin and pulled the wool over her eyes know how much he hurt her.
Tim might be an accomplished lawman, but he has a lot to learn about love.
I recommend this book as well as the entire series to anyone who enjoys a fast paced mystery unraveling throughout each book as romance takes a side romp with danger.
I received an arc from NetGalley and this is my honest opinion.
Jane was burned by Tim when he was undercover and he faked feelings for her in Order to get information. Or did he?
Jane is on a new assignment as Detective and her path crosses with Tim again but she finds out he is still keeping secrets. As they dig further into a trafficking case she still questions if his claim of feelings is still true or another way for more information on her new case.
Lots intrigue and mystery in this book. You can’t deny Jane is a no nonsense detective that gets the job done but is she too burned to love again?
This is a great read and one that will keep you on edge with all its twists and turns.
Dockside Danger is a great installment to The Lost Girls series by Carol Ericson! It takes a bit for it to get off the ground, since you need the backstory, but once it does, it's nonstop action until the very end! Detective Jane Falco is tired of her reputation as being a bad partner. She's determined to make it work with her new partner, Dameon, even though he's not making that resolve easy. Regardless, they have a murder to solve and she can't do it alone.
Enter Tim Ruskin. He and Jane have a past, and Jane would like to leave it there, or would she? Tim had deceived her when he met her as an undercover agent for the FBI. When he shows back up on this case, with another murder victim, his resolve to have Jane is strengthened, even though she wants him at arm's length.
The Russian mob has girls they're trafficking out of LA, and it's up to Tim and Jane to cut through all the noise around them to find the girls before they're shipped out to sea. Bullets and car crashes won't stop them from doing their jobs and slowly unravel the case surrounding the docks, the Bravta, and how the people around them are caught up in it.
If you love second-chance romances, you don't want to miss this one. I can't wait to read the final book in this series!
Good book! It was a little short but I still felt I got the whole story! This book had suspense, intrigue, action, murder, Russian mob, and great police work! The storyline was very interesting and kept me glued to my Kindle! I will definitely recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
