Widowed mother of two, Kate Hoyle, has been worn ragged carrying the grief of losing her husband while trying to take care of her children. She hopes that True North Springs Family Camp will be just what her grieving family needs.
A heartwarming and emotional journey of healing faith, and love. Kate is a loving mom, who wants the best for her children and has been doing her best to hold onto hope. I loved how her kids take to being in Colorado, and Kent opens up to the cook Seb, who has his own past that he is trying to put to rest. Kimmy is so adorable.
A wonderful story of healing hearts, faith and second chances. Great relationship building interaction, and realistic character growth. Highly recommend!

Kate and her children are at Camp True North Springs to help with the grief of losing her husband. Camp True North is known for helping those who have been dealing with trauma and grief and the camp chef said is on his own journey of recovery. It seems that her children have taken a liking to the chef helping them out in any way that he can and it seems to be also winning over Kate. Meanwhile both are unsure of the future for themselves much less if they end up being together.
This was a pretty sweet and heartwarming book. Everyone had their own grief and Trauma and this Camp was a reprieve from everything they were dealing with a moment to just be themselves and enjoy life for their time being. It was interesting seeing what kind of things each side we're dealing with me and Kate and the children were dealing with the trauma of the father/husband being killed taken away from them so suddenly. And Seb was dealing with abuse of painkillers after being hurt and ended up leading to his addiction. He was surrounded by so much temptation but he was doing as much as he can to keep on the straight and narrow. That was just so much support going around for everyone intertwining and helping each other and I enjoyed seeing how everything played out. There was a little drama here and there but that kept the things all the more interesting nothing to be too perfect. Overall this is a really good book I really enjoyed it.
Restoring Their Family by Allie Pleiter is the first book in her True North Springs series from Love Inspired.
This was an incredible story. Keep tissues handy because you’ll need them. It touches all the deep places of loss, grief, and pain. It’s heartbreaking and healing. And a fantastic read.
Truly, I’m not sure I can say more than that. I couldn’t put the story down. I loved the characters. I felt with them. And I’m sure I want to read the next book in the series.
While not officially part of the series, A Place to Heal introduces us to the camp with Mason and Dana, and Charlie’s story. I haven’t read it yet (it’s on my TBR list), but after reading Kate and Seb’s story, I’ll reading it soon!

Wonderful Story of Overcoming Grief and Addiction with Community
5 stars
Genre: Contemporary Romance, Inspirational Romance, Small Town Romance
Location: Arizona
Romance: Very clean. Light kissing.
Faith: Strong message of community and our need to rely on God and others to heal from grief or addiction.
Allie Pleiter weaves a beautiful story of healing in a retreat setting. Kate Hoyle and her two children take a three-week vacation to this quaint camp in Arizona to work through their grief over the loss of Kate’s husband. Kate is concerned that her ten-year-old son is stuck in his grief, so she hopes the experience will bring him out of the dark hole he retreated to. Her daughter’s extreme food allergies add to the stress of a family vacation until Chef Seb Costa sets her mind at ease.
The story unfolds by giving a glimpse into the real-life struggles of recovering from grief, especially when one loses a loved one so unexpectedly. Pleiter’s writing allowed me to feel the characters’ plight and emotions in a way that felt realistic but not overwhelming. I empathized with their grief, rejoiced in their minor triumphs, and rooted for them in their setbacks.
The romance between Kate and Seb was sweet and clean. Just like in real life, after losing a spouse, Kate processed through the conflicting emotions of what it means to open her heart to love again.
One of my favorite parts of the story was the way Pleiter built a relationship between the chef and Kate’s son. Children don’t always tell parents what is going on inside of them. Sometimes a kind stranger who invests a little time can pull them from their shell. I loved Pleiter’s approach to this.
Even though this is the second book in the True North Springs series, the story stands on its own. The author strikes the right balance between relaying context from the first book, without rehashing it. A reader can read this book and not miss a beat even without having read the first book in the series.
This is an uplifting story about overcoming grief and addiction as a Christian. I highly recommend this book for fans of contemporary romance, small town romance, and inspirational fiction. Pleiter delivers an inspirational and heart-warming clean romance.

This was a sweet read that at times had me crying at time. But I did enjoy this one. I finished it in one day.
Sometimes you can find love in the most unexpected places and in my opinion those are the best surprises!
I loved this sweet story that sometimes had tears in my eyes and others smiling.
I think in this little novel Pleiter has hit life's lessons and journey head on. In a way, this book has hit a home run with me because of how it's written and the author doesn't beat around the bush with tough emotions like grief because let's face it. We all go through this at some point and time in our lives.
5 stars for a fantastic job! I highly recommend!

This is a heartwarming story of a grieving family who learns how to move on. What Kate Hoyle never expected is the handsome hurting chef Seb Costa. Kate is trying to heal and most importantly help her young son heal. When they arrive at Camp True North they are a little unsure, nervous and hurting. Chef Seb is excited about his new job, hoping he is cut out for all that is expected. When his past is always haunting him will he be able to overcome and move on? I was given a copy of this book for my honest opinion.
