Sloths are one of Gods unusual yet adorable critters. I love them so when I saw the children’s book Destiny Finds Her Way on NetGalley I had to grab it. It’s a sweet story about a rescue sloth and her recovery. I love the idea of teaching kids about unique animals and about conservation efforts. I’m glad I read this and I would buy it for a child in my life.

I loved this incredible story of Destiny the sloth who has some serious health issues, but is a survivor! Kids and adults alike will be inspired by Destiny's journey. Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this digital ARC,.
This beautifully photographed book about sloths documented Destiny’s rescue and rehabilitation. It also gave facts about sloths, including ways scientists are working to help them cope with a shrinking habitat. Kids will enjoy the fun photographs and hearing her story.
Destiny Finds Her Way is about a sloth in the tropical rainforest of Costa Rica. The sloth had fallen out of the tree and was rescued and brought to an animal rescue center where they fixed her up and tended to all of her needs. Due to how weak she was, they weren't sure if they'd be able to return her to the wild or not. Destiny had an eye that was sick and she didn't get her sight back. But the scientists helped prepare her for the wild anyway. But once they took her to the wild, she looked around with her good eye and took back off into her home!
This book also tells a lot about the other sights and sounds in the rainforest as well as has a lot of photos of other animals you might see around where Destiny lived as well.
I received a free e-copy of this book in order to write this review, I was not otherwise compensated.
Destiny Finds Her Way by Margarita Engle is a wonderful story about a baby sloth with one eye and his rescue and return to the wild by the vets who fix his eye. The illustrations are beautiful. Your child with love the bright color pictures.

Based on a true story, follow Destiny the sloth's journey as she is rescued with an injury, rehabilitated, and released back into her natural habitat in Costa Rica. There is lots of information peppered throughout about sloths and other rain forest creatures, and resources are provided for those interested in studying more.

Thank you to National Geographic Kids and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced reader copy to review! My family loved it.
My first grader absolutely loves sloths, so I'm always on the lookout for anything to do with them (as is she). She found Destiny Finds Her Way perfectly easy to read and loved the close ups of the baby sloth--there's just adorable photography in here. Great story and message for your little animal lovers and another wonderful offering from National Geographic.
Thanks so much to National Geographic Kids for making this book available to read and review through NetGalley.
I was thrilled to receive a copy of this digital ARC from National Geographic and NetGalley. My 6 year-old grandson really enjoyed the large wildlife photos that were on every page. I know he listened to me read because he corrected my pronunciation. His class had learned about Costa Rico Rainforest in kindergarten and he was truly excited to revisit the animals through this magazine.
Destiny's story was one of resilience. I'm sure kids will love reading about her, and getting to see her pictures! I will say that the formatting of the text on the page was a little strange.
I thought that this was a really lovely book!
I loved the photos that were chosen to tell Destiny’s story
The book has a few facts about sloths that I thought were great
I read the book with my five-year-old daughter and we had a chat about conservation too and how even small things we can do can often help and we are going to have a look at The Sloth Institute later on too online
It is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended and I loved the positive story
Thank you NetGalley and National Geographic Kids for this ARC.
I want a sloth, I need to hear some of these howler monkeys and those butterflies sound like a must-see! The photos were simply amazing and the story was adorable. What won me over? It was the poop dance for me!!!!
Such fun. My 7 and 4 year olds and I read this and they loved learning about sloths. The only thing we know is from movies so this was fun to see what they look like and do. They wanted to read it again and again and I think that’s the highest compliment I can give.
