A great book for children who would like to or needs to learn about money. This will help children and some adults who like to learn visually.

I received a preview excerpt of this recently published book via NetGalley and National Geographic Kids. From its first few pages, this seems like a great book for every kid to read, and one I would also enjoy and learn from as an adult.

My 11:00 and 9-year-old really enjoyed this book. They love books that give them straight into the point facts but do it in a fun way. We will definitely be purchasing this book when it comes out because they really did enjoy this! Thank you netgalley for this Arc in exchange for an honest review

Not-So-Common Cents by Sarah Wassner Flynn

This is a review for a sample of the upcoming book by the same name. In the sample I learned about the US dollar bill and how it has the number 13 hidden throughout it to represent the original 13 colonies. It also discussed credit cards versus cash and debit. The sample talked about currencies from around the world. Finally it mentioned how to make a monthly budget. From the content of this sample, it would seem the book will cover a wide range of topics about money. I would say this is a great book for kids learning about spending and saving. The book sample was laid out well and had vibrant colors. I have read many other books by National Geographic Kids and this book meets their same high standards that are found in their other books.

Thank you NetGalley, Sarah Wassner Flynn, and National Geographic Kids for allowing me to read this sample of Not-So-Common Cents!

As an adult I feel this book is not only for kids, very insightful to learning about money and budgeting. I was able to learn about how interest charges play a big role in debt, how money varies all around the world and about budgeting. This book makes me take a look at my finances and want to work on some financial goals this year.

“Not So Common Cent$” by Sarah Wassner Flynn is a book for children aged 8 to 12 about all things money. The topics range from how money is made; what the symbols on the dollar bill mean, to why we spend money, and a little about how to manage money. Some of the topics are simply interesting; the stuff of trivia contests. But some other topics are extremely practical such as how to make a budget or why loans have interest. If your child likes encyclopedic type books, this will be a hit. If you as a parent, are looking for a book to teach about managing money; I feel the essential details will be lost in the fun facts. Still, I love to read about money, for me this is a good book.

Thank you to #NotSoCommonCents #NetGalley and the publisher for a highly excerpted digital advance reading copy.

This concept is very interesting, but the layout was hard to read. it was too busy and there was too much going on on each page. It has a wonderful premise, but to keep the readers focused, clean it up.

This is a really cool sampler of the book. I will definitely look at this book for my grandsons when it comes out. I think they might enjoy reading it. I found the sampler very interesting to read.

As with all National Geographic Books I've read, Not-So-Common Cents has a bright, catchy cover, clear and easy to read layout, interesting photos, and hits the target for its intended age group.

I like the "Make a Monthly Budget" spread and how it shows a sample budget as it's explained in a concise way so that readers won't get bogged down with too many details. Additionally, the variety in graphics (maps, currency, pie chart, relevant photos, etc.) help to keep the reader's interest. While this title was only a chapter sampler, I would be interested in getting this book for my son, who is in the intended age group, upon its publication date.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this brief excerpt.

I may be an adult but I know little about investing, etc so this National Geographic book fir kids about money seemed like a basic way to learn. This is only a very brief excerpt but it seems like it would be great for any kid who wants/needs to learn about saving money, etc.

I would buy this for a child in my life.

I teach high school science. A requirement for graduation is a finance class, which many of my students struggle with because they do not have the background, nor do their parents. I keep a small library of books at all reading levels in my classroom, even children’s books. I would personally like to keep this title in my library on any chance that my students would find it as informative as the short chapter sample was.

I appreciate the description of debt, especially how people pay. Many of my students could benefit from this.

This is the first chapter sampler I've ever received so I wasn't sure what to expect and I don't know how to rate/review 7 pages lol.

From what I saw, this looks like an interesting learning tool about an important life skill. The graphics are very engaging which will help to keep kids reading and focused.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this sampler!

Being able to view this reinforced that it is an excellent book to have in order to help educate children (and adults!). I love National Geographic Books for Kids and have several of them, both in my classroom and my home. They are always really well done with graphics that are eye-catching, informative text without being overwhelming, and information that is relevant, plus fun facts! I love the practicality of this book in particular and cannot wait to be able to read the entire book! I will definitely use this book to reinforce money concepts.

An excellent introduction to elementary school aged children to money! The chapter delves into the history of money and managing money. Can't wait to get this for my 2nd grade. He always loves the National Geographic books, which are informative and filled with tons of fantastic pictures. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC. All thoughts are my own.
