The story kicks off with a bang, literally. A convicted serial killer takes a law enforcement team to his burial site, except the site is rigged to blow and now becomes a mass grave for law enforcement bodies.  Kendra Michaels inserts herself into the investigation and where Kendra goes Adam Lynch soon follows.  Kendra and Adam have caught the scent and soon they are on the trail for the mastermind.
I really like this series with its fast-paced action adventure and the deductive leaps she makes given how she can use all her other senses that she's honed during her years of blindness.  For some reason, I did not find this particular story as compelling as I usually find the books in the series though I am pleased that Kendra is finally going to give Adam a chance.
The concept that there is a serial killer who picks and trains partners to actually commit the crime which he planned is a novel one.  I like how Kendra and Adam follow the clues that take them down to the path that leads them to identify the mastermind and then start to hunt him down.  It's no surprise that the killer now turns his attention to Kendra and those she cares about.
The scene with Kendra's friend is chilling and very well done. Truly I can't put my mind to why this book and story wasn't as appealing to me as the others in the series but all I can tell you is despite some truly novel concepts it is not my favorite in the series.

After making a plea deal, serial killer James Michael Barrett leads several law enforcement officers to the body of his last victim. As officers begin to dig at the alleged burial site, they hear a strange metallic sound when their shovels hit the ground. In the blink of an eye, a horrific explosion rocks the woods, killing Barrett and most of the officers. The explosion sets off a string of heinous murders in the same style as the very-dead Barrett and it becomes clear that he may not have been working alone. Kendra Michaels works to protect Barrett’s only surviving victim, but the killer has a terrifying plan that Kendra and her team are only beginning to understand.

I have been a long time fan and reader of Iris Johansen and Roy Johansen’s work and I have really enjoyed the Kendra Michaels character. This novel kept me guessing and I loved the deductive reasoning Kendra used to try and solve the case. I recommend this novel.

This new installment in the Kendra Michaels series is another thriller. Kendra and a team of FBI agents have suffered a great loss after following a killers directions to a burial site of one of his victims.
However the killings have not stopped even though he was killed. Now Kendra and her team are searching for clues and his possible accomplice. Kendra continues to use her enhanced senses to help along the way.

This will keep you reading. If you're a fan of Kendra Michaels you won't want to miss this. If you've never read one in this series you'll be able to enjoy this story.

Thank you #NetGalley #GrandCentralPublishing #MoreThanMeetsTheEye for this ARC

Another great book in this series!

Iris Johansen wrote many great books on her own, but this collaborative series with her son Roy is a favorite of mine. Kendra Michaels brings unique investigative talents to the FBI due to her years as a blind woman. Her senses are heightened despite having her sight restored, so she hears and smells things that others don’t. I find it fascinating.

In this story, Kendra and love interest Lynch work together to capture Milo, a serial killer who has killed all his victims but one, a young woman he raped as a teenager. Tricia is now a college student and potential Olympic swimmer who is determined to bring down Milo.

I liked seeing Kendra open up to Lynch; as well as her continued friendship with Olivia. Tricia is a strong young woman who is thriving despite her past. Highly recommend this book.

Thanks to the author, publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book, but my opinions are my own.

More Than Meets the Eye is the 10th book in the Kendra Michaels series by the mother and son team of Iris and Roy Johansen. This was a excellent thriller that kept me turning the page until the very end. This book contains a little bit of everything, lots of twist and turns, massive amount of dead bodies to begin the storyline. I loved the chemistry between Kendra and Lynch. I definitely would recommend this book to those that enjoy this genre of books.

I received an ARC from NetGalley and Grand Central Publishing, I am leaving this review voluntarily and the opinions expressed here are my own.

College student Tricia Walton survived an attack by serial killer James Michael Barrett and thought her life would finally return to normal. Even after Barrett’s death, she’s still being stalked. But who else would be after her, and why? Kendra Michaels and her team rush to protect Tricia and other’s that are threatened, including Kendra herself. Will they find the killer in time? Things really heat up when Tricia eludes her bodyguards and decides to fight back on her own.

Twists, turns, murders, stalking, suspense, surprises, drama, danger, and more!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Serial killer James Michael Barrett has agreed to take a plea in return for revealing the location of one of his victims. The unexpected happens at the scene when a bomb is triggered that kills Barrett and multiple law officers. It seems that Barrett might have been training other killers. Kendra Michael’s agrees to help figure out if there are others out there and who they are. Can they figure it out before there are more victims. The the book grabbed my interest from the first page with plenty of mystery and suspense. This book bring back familiar characters as it is part of the Kendra Michael’s series. It could be read as a stand alone. Thank you to net galley for an advanced readers copy.

Just as good as I thought it would be. I told myself that I would read this slowly and and draw out the excitement. That didn't happen. Once I picked this book up, I didn't put it down. It's full of twists and turns and a teensy bit of romance. I'm glad that Kendra and Lynch are getting closer to being together, just wish it would happen quicker.

Kendra is doing what she does best. A serial killer previously caught has killed some of the FBI's own. Kendra offered to help because they were her friends too. It brings Kendra and Lynch together again. It's their job to keep a young swimmer safe. Because she's the only one that got away. And the killer can't stand that.

I have enjoyed all of the Kendra Michaels books. They're intriguing and innovative. They make for an interesting read.

Thank you to NetGalley, Grand Central Publishing and Roy and Iris johansen for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

More Than Meets the Eye is the 10th book in the Kendra Michaels series from the Mother/son team of Iris and Roy Johansen.

"Serial killer James Michael Barrett agrees to a plea deal at his murder trial. He leads a group of FBI agents and local police to the site where he buried his last victim. As agents start to dig, they hit something metallic. There's a large explosion that kills Barrett and most of the agents. Soon there are murders very similar to the way Barrett killed his victims. Kendra Michaels is brought in to help find this new killer. She agrees to be helped by the only survivor of Barrett's attacks. But the killer has other plans for them both."

If you're not familiar with Kendra - She was blind for the first 20 years of her life. She had a groundbreaking procedure that restored her sight. But her other senses remain super sharp. This allows her to see things and recognize things that others miss. She does that often in this book also but there is less of that in this story. This is more of a police procedural. And the way leads are followed is that Lynch "knows a guy" and gets information that way. (It happens that way a lot. Feels like a writer shortcut.)

Previous books have all been fast-paced with terrifying killers. Not this one. It doesn't flow like the others. I attribute part of that to the plot device used. No spoilers - it is a different take on serial killers. I appreciate when authors try something new, but it seems awkward here. And it makes the story drag.

If you're a Kendra Michaels fan or if you are looking for a new take on killers you would enjoy this one.

Another excellent thriller by the queen of suspense Iris johansen and her equally amazing co writer and son Roy Johansen! This dynamic writing dual has penned another Kendra Michaels mystery thriller full of action and suspense with a game of cat and mouse from another serial killer that thinks he can outwit and out run both Kendra and the puppet master and all around fixer Adam Lynch. When serial killer Michael James Barrett cuts a deal last minute to take the death penalty off the table if he shows police where the body of his first victim Dayna Voyles is buried it starts a chain of events that will end in death for many and bring a killer out of hiding. A trap was set up which ends up with not only Barrett being killed by a hidden explosive but several others from the the police and FBI. When Kendra and Lynch go to the prison to look for clues in barrett's cell Kendra finds a pair of prescription swimming goggles hidden in his pillow and they find out they belong to Tricia Walton a Olympic hopeful for the swimming team and the only known victim to have lived through a attack by Barrett when she was only 18. And piece by piece they realise that Barrett was part of a Alpha- Beta team and the mastermind behind all the killings from start to finish was a mystery man named Milo Fletcher who
is a sick deranged killer who sees himself as the ultimate killer who finds others who he groom's to do his bidding while he hides in the shadows. Once again theirs plenty of action and suspense and twists and turns and a race right up to the end to stop this villain and theirs also amazing new characters and some old friends thrown into the mix and passion!!! Kendra has been keeping Lynch at arm's length for years even though they were occasional lovers because of the fear of letting him in and something happening to him. But finally Kendra is done with what if's and totally surrenders herself to what she feels for Adam Lynch!!!! And Its about time!! I would never let this guy slip through my fingers!!! They are total equals in and out of bedroom! Team Johansen are awesome apart but together their pure magic! Until next Luv's💕💋

I want to thank Netgalley and Grand Central publishing and Iris and Roy Johansen for this early copy!💕💋

I love this series with Kendra Michaels. She is always sassy, independent, and entertaining. Once blind she has become an asset to the FBI when they need her but her heart is with her students.

She can see now but being blind all those years has allowed to expand on her other senses and she picks up on things you and I wouldn't. When she is called in to help on this investigation, it's to help bring justice to some of the officers she has worked with after they've been killed in a bomb. She's proven herself to many and therefore she is a trusted and proven asset.

Read as she does her special kind of investigating. Follow along as she and other smart women in her life help solve this crime. Of course you'll read some more about Lynch.

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
