Poppy has a great job, working as a maid for the family of Sheikhs in one of their safe houses. She does housework and keeps the house ready if required.
Samir is the playboy Sheikh, when he sails a bit too close to the wind in his private life he is sent to the safe house.
Samir is a sheikh and really shouldn't be interested in the hired help.
Poppy really needs this job to save up for grad school and a playboy sheikh is not going to get in the way.
But when opposites attract it gets a lot more complicated.
Good short book, minimal characters but the story clipped on at a good pace.
A steamy Christmas romance between a maid and a billionaire. A romance story that has a little bit more of the steamy dreamy stuff that romance lovers rejoice in.
This is a good book. The two main characters are Poppy and Samir. Poppy is a maid at the sheik’s cabin. Samir is a son of the sheik. There is an instant attraction. Samir wants Poppy. She and Samir share a night together. They each have trust issues but together they work them out and fall in love.
I tried to read this book a month ago and I had to put it down and since then, I haven’t been able to put it back up and get it into it. To me this book was a little boring. It wasn’t at all what I thought it was going to be. It was and ok story it just wasn’t interesting enough for me to stay committed to finishing it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️
Good Christmas book to curl up and read on a cold day..... Some parts will definitely warm you up lol...
This is the first novel in the Shadid Sheikhs trilogy. Unusually the plot line is set not in a fancy palace by a cabin in America. Samir has been sent to a safe house in America by his father due to death threats. Poppy is an unemployed anthropologist working as a chalet maid.
When they first meet Poppy is unimpressed by Samir. That doesn’t last and they have an affair but will there be a HEA or will it be scuppered by Melka, the brusque bodyguard who causes many misunderstandings?
I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.
This book was...something. I've been wracking my brain for a hot minute trying to think of something nice to say about it, and I'm coming up empty. The relationship progression is absurd, the storyline is negligible, the twists were super obvious and the sex scenes (even the ones that only occur in the MCs' imaginations) are mediocre at best. I didn't feel any of the characters passion and I didn't really care what happened to them. I just wasn't invested in this story at all. I could continue with my complaints, but I feel like I've beat up this book enough already.
Overall I give this 1 out of 5 stars.
Not my favorite of the series, but enjoyable nonetheless. Poppy is a good start on a character, but felt a little flat. The story was surprising, which is rare for this genre! I liked it enough to keep reading the series, and I'd read more from this author.
This is Samir and Poppy’s story. Samir is a sheikh. Poppy is an anthropologist with no job. She has been traveling. She has taken a job as a maid. Samir is being hidden away because of a death threat. Poppy is the servant assigned to the safe house. Samir wants to have a fling with Poppy.
They have many misunderstandings that are caused by Samir’s bodyguard. Will the misunderstandings lead to a breakup or a lasting commitment. Poppy knows what she wants but so does Samir. This is another great story from Leslie North.
Leslie North is one of my favorite Sheikh romance authors. While this holiday fling wasn't my favorite, I definitely enjoyed it.
Poppy and Samir's meet-cute was priceless - her lying in the snow and yelling at the delivery boy (who turns out to be the Sheikh) to help her with the trash. After that, she realizes her mistake and tries to stay hands-off with the Sheikh, who is in hiding following a death threat.
While this didn't have the usual Sheikh romance vibes because they're tucked away in a cabin instead of a palace, it was an enjoyable romance. If you're looking for a snowed-in romance, definitely pick this one up.
What irked me about it: Melka and his involvement. Also, how abrupt the build-up to their declarations of love were.
What I enjoyed: the spicy scenes. As always, Leslie North does not disappoint.
A Christmas fling turns into something so much more in this steamy, tender, and romantic first installment of Ms North's series, the Shadid Sheikh's. Samir's father sends him to America for the holidays to keep him safe. While there, one of the maids, Poppy, catches his eye. She first mistakes him for a delivery man. When she finds out who he really is she's not overly impressed by him, but she sure made an impression on him, and he is instantly attracted to her. Although Poppy does her best to evade his charms, she soon falls prey to them and they embark on a hot holiday fling.
The story was seductive, steamy, and fun and I had a great time reading it. The storyline flowed smoothly and some unexpected plot twists kept me guessing and had me glued till the end. A great beginning to the series!
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.
I found this book to be a bit different than the usual books from North with a bit of a twist at the end. Still enjoyable and loved the story
Loved reading the engaging and enthralling romance story. When Poppy Milenne, the maid, and the handsome, playboy prince, Sheikh Shadid, meet, Sheikh Shadid, Shamir wants Poppy in his bed by Christmas. Read the highly recommended, wonderfully written, and a riveting must read love story.
A big thank you to NetGalley and Relay Publishing for the ARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. This is the first in a series. The plot is pretty unbelievable but still sort of fun and silly. Poppy and Samir have good chemistry. He has a hard time trusting her. This has an interesting twist, and I was a little surprised. Different read 3 stars
Leslie North writes awesome Sheikh romances. Her characters are awesome, there is entertainment, mystery, romance, steam with the greatest plots that keep you enthralled to the last page. Someone is making death threats to Sheikh Samir Shadid and he is taken to taken to a safe house by a bodyguard for safe keeping and protection. Poppy is the lone maid left behind working at the safe house. When she sees Samir she thinks he is a delivery guy and once she finds out he is she is not impressed because he is a playboy. Over a period of the time Poppy and Samir form a great connection and Poppy fails for Samir. Poppy doesn’t want to lose her job and tries to avoid Samir but she can’t the attraction is there front and center.
Who is trying to kill Samir, will Poppy and Samir act on their feelings?
I received an ARC via Booksprout and NetGalley and I am leaving review voluntarily.
I gave this 3 stars on Goodreads.
I felt that the story was rushed. Details were left out that could enhance the story. I loved Poppy!
This was another quick read by Leslie North. Poppy loves her job as being a maid for a house in the middle of nowhere. Today might change her mind about her loving her job. She is having to rush and do everything she is told, so that the place is ready for when Samir arrives. While taking out the trash she fusses at the delivery boy for not helping, or at least that is who she thought he was. Turns out he was part of the royal family, Samir. From that moment she knew she was in trouble because he was making her feel things she hasn’t felt in a long time. Will they be able to survive someone trying to separate them before Christmas arrives? I was given an ARC through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
This is a short read. Romance between a Sheikh and a maid.
Samir is a renowned playboy, spending Christmas in a luxury cabin to escape from an alleged death threat. Upon seeing Polly, he is instantly intrigued by her. She doesn't treat him like everyone else he knows. She doesn't bow down to him. She proves to be a challenge for him. His bodyguard takes an instant dislike to Polly and his motives are rather suspicious. He does and says everything he can to discourage Polly and Samir from having a relationship. Will his ploy succeed or will he thwarted.
There are some explicit scenes. It has a happy ending
I received an eARC from Netgalley and the views expressed are my personal opinion.
I figured out who the death threat came from but not why. It really surprised me. Samir and Poppy's connection didn't though. The Sheik's Christmas Maid, was a great holiday romance novel.
It's a quick and enjoyable read to observe how everything develops between the two. I enjoyed the two major protagonists.
My only criticism of this book is that I thought the story twist was very predictable. Overall, a quick and simple Christmas read for romance fans.
