I liked the dog. This just wasn’t my favorite by this author. It’s probably a me thing. Maybe I just wasn’t in the mood? It was a good story but kind of drug a bit for me.

The star of this book, imo, was Huck the rescue dog. Also why I wanted to read this book. Love search and rescue stories and the story itself was good. Romantic suspense though is not really my preference, but there was enough suspense to keep me interested, and as I said I fell for Huck. A little too much romance amidst some terrible happenings. Enjoyed the audio though and the narration by Julia Atwood. Was a nice easy read at a time when one was needed.

This book follows Ava and Huck, her SAR (search and rescue) dog. Ava is fed up with corporate life and decides to take Hank on a SAR mission, where she meets Grant, the sheriff on the case of a missing girl.

My favorite part of this book was that the ending wasn’t written to unrealistically please readers, and tastefully yet realistically resolves the storyline.

This book was ok. It's probably a book I will forget in a few days. The characters were good but overall it was missing something.

Vanishing Hour was another great read by Laura Griffin. A cold case in Texas leads to a string of disappearances. Ava Burch is a corporate lawyer who has had enough of the big city. Her father raised search and rescue dogs, in Texas and has since moved to the rugged wilderness near Big Bend National Park. Her and her dog, Huck, discover an abandoned campsite on a volunteer search and rescue mission. She is perplexed but carefully photographs the scene. Grant Wycoff thinks that Ava is a city slicker. But quickly realizes there's more than meets the eye when she tells him what she discovered. They must work against the brutal heat from both the Texas sun and their chemistry to solve the case. I enjoyed reading this book and can't wait to read more by the author.

Vanishing Hour is a romantic suspense. After Ava's father dies, she leaves her high-powered law firm to open a small firm with her friend Jenna in rural Texas so she can dedicate her time with search and rescue. When searching for a missing boy, she discovers an abandoned campsite. This leads to a cold case of a missing girl and Grant, a local deputy sheriff. When another young woman goes missing, and Ava's life is threatened they must work together to discover the killer before it is too late. There is an instant attraction between them, but Ava has issues with law enforcement officers due to her dad so she would prefer casual, however Grant has other ideas. Overall a well-paced mystery, and I am hoping there will be a sequel that focuses on Jenna and Connor. This was my first Laura Griffin novel, although I have had her books on my radar and I will definitely be picking up more in the future.

From the story to the characters, really enjoyed every part of this book. It had a great flow - beginning to middle to end. I like that the thriller/mystery remained the focus of the story and evolved, while the main characters story grew around it. I also liked that the main characters were smart and everything they did added to the plot.

Julia Atwood did a great job narrating. My first Laura Griffin novel and won't be my last.

Thank you NetGalley for the copy.

This book pulled me right from the very beginning! It was a great ride with a kick-ass woman taking names and getting shit done, which is my fave! It also had a super cute dog and a happy ending, so how could I not love it? I am definitely adding Larur Griffin's book to my TBR from now on AND her backlog of books as well!

Give me a book that centers around a cold case then throw in missing girls and I’ll read that any day of the week! This one was great and I’m so happy I was able to review it. I’ll recommend this one often.

Ava Burch has had enough of the corporate legal business, and has moved to the small town of Cuervo in Texas to work in her friend's small law office. Her father, who raised and trained search and rescue dogs has recently died, so Ava has taken in her father's dog, Huck and is now working Search and Rescue in Big Bend National Park. When she and Huck are called out for a search, they discover an abandoned campsite and she carefully photographs it all and reports it to the local sheriff. Deputy Sheriff Grant Wycoff is not impressed with this city slicker who is on the search but when she tells him about her find, he realizes that there is more than meets the eye to this woman and her dog. Her discovery reminds him about a woman who went missing a couple of years ago, and when they begin to search for clues and information, another woman goes missing under suspicious circumstances. Can they work quick enough to solve the mystery and keep another person from ending up dead?

This was another great story by Laura Griffin. I really liked the character of Ava Burch, she was smart, independent, didn't give up, and she was resourceful. There was definitely a lot of chemistry between Ava and Grant and I liked the way they fought against it. There were several suspects and a bit of a cult atmosphere that I knew would be involved in the death, but I wasn't sure how. The closer Ava got to solving the crimes, the more danger she was in. This was a police thriller and a mystery that I had partially figured out, but there were still some surprises along the way. I enjoyed this story and will look for more books by Laura Griffin. I did a read/listen of this book narrated by Julia Atwood. She is a new narrator to me and I did enjoy her performance. If you like an interesting mystery and police thriller, I recommend Vanishing Hour in either format.

Laura Griffin does it again with this suspense. After finding an abandoned campsite with her Search and Rescue dog, Ava is sure that there is something more than meets the eye. She teams up with they Deputy Sheriff to solve the mystery multiple missing women. The romance between Ava and Grant does not take away from the suspense, or detract from the story.

I listened to the audiobook narrated by Julia Atwood. Julia did a great job of keeping the listeners attention, and not letting the mind wander.

I want to thank Netgalley and Dreamscape Media for an advanced audiobook.

I really couldn’t get into this one I found the characters boring and it felt like a lot was going on that I missed, it thought the plot was a really good premise but it just didn’t play out good for me.

Ava Burch is a lawyer in a big city that comes back home to the little town of Cuervo, Texas . She takes over her father's search and rescue dog training after he passes away. She was contacted when there was a missing person in the Big Ben National Park. While on that case she meets Grant Wycoff the local detective. She also sees several items that leads her to uncover that there are several missing women in the area. Will these clues help her find them. Will anyone listen to her.
This latest book from Laura Griffin will take you on a roller coaster ride of will they or won't they find the missing girls before it is too late.

This was a great murder mystery. It grabbed my attention from the beginning and kept me turning the page. The characters were well fleshed out and the atmosphere was fantastic. .

The first 70% of this book was the epitome of a three star read for me. It was fine, the story was easy to follow and the characters were likable enough but nothing really pulled me into the plot and therefore I had to consciously make myself read to finish the book.

However, the last 30% was really great. The pacing was perfect, the suspense was high and the romance was entertained with the suspense plot in a way that made you care about their future together. You finally got to see what tied the findings together, which I think could’ve been paced out better in the first half as it was rather slow.

Overall, it was a fine read.

3.5 stars

The Vanishing Hour grabbed my attention from start to finish. A thrilling murder mystery with a hint of romance that doesn't overwhelm or take away from the story. Well written and fast paced, engaging. The narrator is fantastic and her voice talents really add to the tension and atmosphere of the story. She's easy to follow and holds the listener captive. This audiobook was a good time
