The idea of the book series was a fun one, however I couldn’t connect well with the female main character. And the writing style didn’t mesh with me well. Dnf
a fun teen vampire story! an easy read and one that i got through rather quickly! love it for halloween!
I read this without having read the first couple of the connected stand-alones before this one, and I think I'd recommend reading those before this, BUT it was still a fun experience. Paranormal romance with vampires, that's humorous and fun to read.
This was fun to read. The plot was good, the characters were easy to get into, and it didn’t take long to read either which is a big plus.
#ASuckerforYou #NetGalley. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this novel. I encourage you to check this one out! Really solid read.
A Sucker for You is a thrilling conclusion to the Afterlife series by Marlene Perez. Tansy and her friends are back and up for the task of saving those she cares most about. It's exciting, romantic, and magical. I didn't want the book let alone the series to end!
Tansy, Vaughn, and the rest of the gang are back and they are in Vegas. And it's not a vacation. Tansy's mother has an evil plan that Tansy and her friends are trying to stop. When Vaughn's dad is under her compulsion, it makes them want to rescue him even more. They enlist the help of Tansy's father and his resources. While doing this, Tansy is also trying to assimilate into her new family. It's different for her but she is hoping everything will work out in the end.
There are so many tense moments, but the author gives readers our Tansy and Vaughn time which helps ease the stress of the situation. Seeing the growth between Tansy and Vaugn put a smile on my face. They have faced so much and their love is solidified even more than before.
I give A Sucker for You 5 stars. I have loved reading this series so much. I think it was a great way to end it. The book read like a movie and I couldn't have enjoyed it more. Sad to say goodbye to these books, but I'm thankful for them because I was introduced to a fantastic author!
I was given this book by the publisher in return for my honest review.
It's hard to believe Tansy's story may be over, or is it. The tone was debatable.
Here are my thoughts. Overall the story is good, the plot carries over easily from the second book. I wish I could've seen some more growth from Tansy in regards to growing a backbone. As a character that is supposed to do anything to protect her friends she's kind of weak and that continues in this third book even with the threat of mortal peril.
There were a couple of times in this story the author kind of just ADHD jumps to another topic like a glitter hoarding squirrel. She's talking about a scene and kind of just jumps to the next one. I didn't like that vibe.
I'm unsure if this is the end of the line for Tansy as we have some big unknowns still. I'm going we'll find answers.
I honestly enjoyed this series though I could've had a little more action and growth for the MC but time will tell if we'll hear from Tansy again.
Follow Tansy and her gang of friends to Vegas, where they hunt down her mother, build relationships with estranged family, endure some feral vamps, and save Vaughn's dad from a marriage. Tansy is battling a war with in herself to keep the witch alive that the vampire is trying to snuff out. Her werewolf boyfriend Vaughn must help keep her alive while they search for his dad. They must track down her mom who has him held captive by compulsion. As they close in on her the stakes get higher and they begin to battle more and more feral vamps. Captured they must escape their binds and eliminate Tansy's mother before she kills them all. Will they succeed? Hold on for this roller coaster ride of twists and turns.
#netgalleyarc This was a fun and cute read, perfect for this time of year. This was a fun and quick read and I’ll be adding it to my high school library.
As sad as I am to see this series end I have to say I loved it, from the first page to the last word this is a series that will stay with me for a long time.
With Tansy finally finding her true family and realizing that biology isn't everything she's open to what life can bring her, even looking forward to the possibilities in front of her, blending the family she knows with the one she's getting to know while recovering from one crazy trip to Vegas.
This is one of those books that just makes you realize if you're willing to fight for it you can have your happily ever after even if that doesn't look anything like what you thought it would at the beginning.
With exceptional world-building, characters that seem more like friends than fiction, and magic that feels more real than the world around me this book was the perfect conclusion to this phenomenal series. I know I'll be reading it again and again.
Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Teen for providing an advance copy of this book, I have voluntarily read and reviewed it and all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I was worried I wouldn't be able to finish this arc before it was archived on Netgalley but I flew through it. I love Tansy as a main character and how everyone interacts. Wish there had been a bit more granny. I assume this will be the last one? Though, I wouldn't say no to a spin off.
A nice ending to the Afterlife series that has the charm and wit as the first two! I love Tansy and her group of friends. It was entertaining seeing them fight the bad guys and it warmed my heart seeing Tansy getting to know her family. I’m sad it’s over but glad I was along for the ride!
A Sucker for You by Marlene Perez is a fun, fast-paced read full of action, drama, and romance that I have come to expect in the series. A Sucker for You is an incredibly entertaining read that I had a hard time putting it down once I started reading.
Thank you for allowing me to read an advanced copy as an arc reader. All thoughts and reviews are my own.
Wow! This was such a cute read and the story line was definitely unique. Something that seems impossible to do with how many paranormal books there are on the market. Loved it
I had fun with this book! I thought that it wrapped up the series really well and had all of the action, drama, and romance that I have come to expect in the series. It was so easy to slip back into Tansy’s world and watch her take on those who wish her harm with the help of her friends, and family. I found this book incredibly entertaining and had a hard time putting it down once I started reading.
Tansy and her friends have their work cut out for them in this book. Vaughn’s father is in the clutches of Tansy’s evil mother, also known as The Executioner, and they need to find them before they get the chance to get married in Vegas. It was great to see Tansy work with her friends to try to save the day. Most of the characters had some kind of special ability so it was always exciting to see them in action. I really appreciated watching Tansy and Vaughn grow closer over the course of the series and thought that they seemed really solid together in this installment. I love that this book took a few twists and turns that I did not see coming which made for a very entertaining read.
I would recommend this book to others. I thought that this was a great conclusion to the trilogy and I have enjoyed each book. I love the blend of witches, vampires, and werewolves in these stories and appreciate the fact this is a lighter read. I wouldn’t hesitate to read more of this author’s work in the future.
I received a digital review copy of this book from Entangled Teen.
I absolutely love how this book ended. I just couldn’t put this book down. It was quite the adventure. I need more from this author.
“I should have staked you when I had the chance”
Tansy, vampire queen of California, is going on a road trip. She’s bringing an eclectic bunch with her: her best friend (the only human), her two assassin sisters, her boyfriend (a werewolf who’s trained as a vampire slayer) and his pack (minus the one who stayed behind to study). They’re headed to Vegas to stop a wedding.
Besides the obvious ickiness associated with the idea of their parents being married, Tansy’s mother, Vanessa (AKA, the Executioner), has compelled Vaughn’s father, so it’s not exactly a free will decision as far as Adam Sheridan is concerned. Tansy and Vaughn are determined to prevent this happily ever after.
“Do you think it’s a coincidence that I follow Vanessa to Vegas and all hell breaks loose?”
It’s been six months since Tansy attended the worst part of her life and became a striga vie, a witch/vampire hybrid, and her witch is at war with her vampire. Granny’s tonic isn’t working as well as it used to so her allergy to the sun has been getting worse.
Tansy has the Blood of Life ruby with her but she doesn’t know what it does yet or even who gave it to her. All she knows for sure is she needs to do whatever it takes to ensure Vanessa doesn’t get her hands on it. Besides the priceless gemstone, Tansy has brought along her parasol and her trusty drumstick (all the better for slaying vampires).
It’s family reunion time in Vegas. While Vanessa is doing her best to evade her daughter and get on with her dastardly deeds, Tansy finally gets to meet her absentee father. Mason Alicante, the head of the Paranormal Activities Committee, is also Rose and Thorn’s father. He’s one character who certainly lives up to his reputation. Rose and Thorn need their own series.
The Drainers, who reinvented themselves in the sequel as the Thirsty Thieves, are at it again. This time, they’re the Bleeding Hearts and they’re trying another new style of music, pop.
Hecate, the best hellcat ever, makes an appearance. She’s such a good kitty.
Granny and her Old Crones Book Club stayed home for this adventure but Granny still has her part to play. She’s my favourite character of the series, not that it was ever a close call.
My main question mark in this book related to Wanda, the healer. When we first meet her, she says she’s not going to be around for the next few weeks because she’s going to a deserted island. In the next chapter, the group have dinner at Wanda’s World and chat to Wanda, who is clearly not on holiday.
This book has action scenes where vampires meet their doom via drumstick, parasol and other lethal means. There are werewolves with ginormous appetites. The characters stay in luxury accommodation and visit specialty hidden world stores. There are mushy lovey doves scenes and mysterious tattoos.
This is my favourite book of the series. It’s unusual for me but I enjoyed each book more than the one that preceded it.
I’m not usually into books that feature vampires and I don’t generally read romance novels but this series hooked me. They’re light reads but they were fun and a great escape. I’m definitely keen to read more books by this author.
Content warnings: Readers with emetophobia may have trouble with some scenes.
Thank you so much to NetGalley and Entangled Teen, an imprint of Entangled Publishing, for the opportunity to read this book. I’m rounding up from 4.5 stars.
I voluntarily read and reviewed a copy of this book, provided by Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
I didn't want to read this book. Not because I didn't like it, but because I adore this series, and I didn't want it to end. I love the world that Marlene Perez created here, and her characters are adorable and quirky - well, except Vanessa. And Mason haha! Once Tansy and her friends gets to Vegas, all hell literally breaks lose, at the hands of Vanessa, because OF COURSE, Vanessa. Tandy, Vaughn and their friends race the clock to make everything right again - but will Vanessa allow that to happen?
Like I said, I'm sad this series is ending. Maybe one day, we'll get a novella about Tansy and Vaughn's wedding. The characters were all so close like family, and that kind of made them like my family.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, from Entangled Publishing, LLC and #NetGalley. Thank you for the opportunity to preview and review. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
A quick read that has layers to the story.
Another great, quick read by Marlene Perez. "A Sucker for You" is a great addition to her Afterlife series. If you love teen vampires, then pick this series up right now.
