DNF @ 15 %.
Unfortunately, this one wasn't for me. I didn't vibe with the writing and as I haven't read the other books in the series I have no emotional connection to the story. Most of what I read was exposition, all telling, no showing.
If you've read and enjoyed the other books in the series, I'm sure you'll love this one.

An interesting story. I had not read any of the previous books in the series and defiantly felt at times that I did not fully understand the world. Or the characters would briefly reference things that I didn’t quite understand. So portions of the book were really rough.
Overall though I found the story intriguing and interesting. The he author created an interesting world and it had some depth to it. I would be interested in reading the entire series and see if I feel differently.

In Spirit River by Erin M. Leaf, I noticed immediately what a sensual and lush story it is. The paranormal romance begins with compelling and well written descriptions of the characters and the magic. I loved how amazingly well the magic was described and the romance between the main characters, River and Gregor. It expands on the world from the previous novels but the new characters are wonderful by themselves. The romance is first and foremost in the novel and Erin M. Leaf does a fantastic job of bringing the characters together and resolving their romance with fantasy elements that are well explored and described.
What was odd to me was the introduction of the characters and the world. The beginning was far less descriptive than the rest of the novel so it took a bit for me to jump in. Once I was caught up in the characters, the sensual and lush descriptions were beautiful and compelling. The only thing I would have wanted was a longer and more complex story but the romance elements were well developed.
If you love paranormal romance with LGBTQ charact

Gregor's pack is slowly dying. The members that are left are able to shift less and less often - and overall he feel like he is failing them. So when his sister asks to go to a River concert - he feels like he can't refuse her. River is a very famous Rockstar who pretty much has it all - including some very remarkable witch powers. When Gregor comes to his concert there is an immediate connection between the two of them - even from the stage into the crowd.
I loved the conenction between River and Gregor - and even if River does some really dumb TSTL things - it was still a great read. This book does include MPregnancy towards the end - but it is less of a plot point in this book than it has been in others. Its always weird to me - but for whatever reason it works in this series.
Overall this is a fun shifter romance.
I received this as an ARC via NetGalley, but these opinions are all my own.

I received a copy for an honest review.
I enjoyed this book. It was my first time reading a story from Author Erin M Leaf and I will now read more of their content now. The main characters Gregor and River are likable, sexy, and funny. It is the fifth book in a series, so there are appearances of characters from the other 4 books. Even though I didn't know their history, it did not detract from the enjoyment of this story.
Gregor is a wolf shifter from a dwindling pack without pack bonds. River is a male witch and Rock Star. The unlikely pair meet in one of River's concerts and their encounter is explosive. Even though Gregor thought he was straight he feels an instant attraction toward River he can't yet explain. Their brief encounter changes them forever and creates unbreakable bonds that will save them and their family.
I recommend this book, but I suggest starting from the first book in the series to get a better understanding of the world in this story.

I have never read a book by Erin Leaf but I definitely need to go back and start from book one because this one was AMAZING! I am partial to paranormal characters and just love this unexpected story.

I came across this and thought it sounded like a fun shifter romance. I hadn't read the previous installments, but I figured romance series are usually easy to read out of order. This seemed to be true, because a lot was explained. And I mean, A LOT. The characters would have conversations where each admitted they both already knew this information, just for the sake of the reader, which was pretty tedious to read. Then we moved on from there and fell directly in one of the weirdest sex scenes I have ever read, which made me immediately DNF this. This book ended up being decidedly not for me.

What happens when a witch and a wolf meet at a rock concert? Fireworks that’s what…
I enjoyed this fresh take on fated mates and packs/covens. Although it’s book 5 in the series I haven’t read the earlier books but was able to keep up with the story.

Okay. So. I tried.
First, nowhere in the description did it mention this is the fifth book in a series. That's kind of a big thing to overlook. Second, it's a mpreg universe. I wouldn't have requested the book had I known--nothing wrong with it, just not something I like reading. Third, this book embodies the info-dump. As the fifth book in a series, you'd think the first chapter wouldn't need to be "let's state the history of everything ever under the guise of a conversation!" I'm not buying that people who are supposedly close to each other wouldn't have known any of this stuff about each other. Whatever. The writing is extremely stilted and I just can't get over the "I'm sitting in a lecture hall" feeling of the narrative.

This was a pretty okay read. I typically enjoy shifter books and I liked the mix of witch and wolf that this story had. I did think it was a little confusing at parts and a lot of things were happening in such a short amount of pages, but an overall fun read. I haven't read and of the other books in the series, but am looking forward to going back and reading them in the future!

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of Spirit River by Erin M Leaf. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thanks to NetGalley and Evernight Publishing for this ARC.
Spirit River was such a fun and sweet read. River and Gregor had a lot of chemistry, and their witch/werewolf plot arc was interesting. I wish we had a bit more evil witch interaction so the spice and actual plot ratio were more even. I give Spirit River a solid 3.5/5 stars

The romance was cute and the book was occassionally even sexy but Holy internalized misogyny, Batman! The author's depiction of not only the female villains in this book but also of the protaganist's fans (including the love interest's sister) was very jarring and deeply unpleasant to read. I'm all for a woman villain driven mad by her lust for power but I redownloaded the ARC just to search the document for how many times the phrase "crazy bitch(es)" shows up and the answer was not pretty. The only other word they ever use to describe her is "psycho." Additionally, the treatment of River's fans - specifically teenaged girls, including Skye, - referenced over and over with dismissive derision. Honestly, nearing the confrontation at the end, the deep internalized misogyny displayed by the author through two point of view male characters made the book very difficult to finish. This is my first read from this author and it will be my last, as it's clear that she's writing m/m because she thinks it's hot and because she doesn't have it in her to care about a woman.

What a refreshingly different twist on the worlds of shifters, magic and rock stars. Who knew, right?
Overall, a super fun book with some mysteries to solve that aren't 100% obvious and lots of interesting characters. It is a mpreg, but not a lot of focus on it.
I will definitely be looking into other books in the series and by the author, Erin M. Leaf.

Thank you for allowing me to read an advanced copy as an arc reader and all thoughts and reviews are my own.
I actually really liked this book. This is the first time I’m reading something of the from Erin Leaf and it won’t be the last. I feel as though if I possibly read the other books I might of enjoyed this one fully. I also adore paranormal books so this was right up my ally

This is my first time reading Erin M. Leaf, but it certainly won't be my last.
Spirit River is an entertaining read, mixing witches and werewolves; and once I started reading I couldn't put it down!
Sebastian River is a superstar rocker, with fame, fortune and a little bit of witch magic at his fingertips ✨️ However, River is alone in the world.
That is until he meets werewolf Gregor Eutimo. Gregor was dragged to River's concert at the last minute by his little sister, and even worse; he's in the front row. But he has a reaction unlike he's ever experienced before when he sees the rocker. And an encounter with River during the interval has him learning two things: his wolf recognises his mate and Gregor isn't as straight as he thought he was.
I must admit, I'm a sucker for mate connections and love at first sight, so this was right up my street. But Erin M. Leaf made Spirit River feel believable, and I loved seeing the bond form between them.
And this two together are HOT! 🔥🔥🔥 But besides that, their connection is well written and I could feel the love and emotional connection they share.
Despite this being part of a series, I could understand everything as a standalone, however I do want to read the other books in the series now.
There is MPREG in this book, which is a first time reading for me, and whilst I loved the scene where they created that life, I would have loved more details of the pregnancy, how River felt etc,. I felt it was a little skipped over, otherwise this would have been a perfect read for me.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publishers for providing me with an ARC copy of this book. Spirit River releases on October 27th.

When a witchy rock star and an unaffiliated wolf meet at a concert, their worlds collide and create a situation that both expands their possibilities and leads to danger.
Even though this is the fifth book in a series, I had no problems understanding the rules of this paranormal world or keeping characters straight. I adored the relationships Gregor has with his family and watching River learn to stop being a loner. (And the two of them together!) This was exactly the type of story I was looking for when I picked it up. I plan to go back and read more in this series and by this author.

Unfortunately there was a corrupted file and I can't read the book with is disappointing but I refuse to ruin my percentage rate because netgalley considers a corrupt file a good reason to mess with someone's acceptance to completion rate

It was a fun, fast read. It almost had a bit of a modern-day fairy tale feel to it. I'm not usually a fan of the love first site trope, but it was handled in a fun way that I enjoyed. The two leads were each distinct and interesting to observe. Tackling werewolves and witches at the same time was exactly the kind of stuff I like to see. The cast was interesting and well-rounded. I wasn't aware of this author until now. I'm going to have to check out her back catalog now. Thanks to NetGally for the ARC opportunity. This is a must-read for supernatural, romance fans!
