This is a beautifully written memoir. At several points through the first half, I had mixed feelings; I lacked the empathy necessary to relate to and appreciate Jackson's story because it seemed she and her husband were going to such extreme lengths for such a narcissistic pursuit. But as her relationship to the wreck that took her father's family grew, and the connections she started making, the more the desire (even necessity) for a legacy made sense.
This is challenging, heartful, wrenching writing.
