Unfortunately I don’t think this book was for me. I understood what it was trying to do but I didn’t think it was interesting enough to continue reading. someone else might definitely think it’s funny or just a fun retelling especially since the idea is pretty cool.

“Little Vampire Women” is a fun take on the classic “Little Women.” Lynn Messina sticks closely to the original characters and plot events except, of course, the March family are vampires. This family of vampires try to fit in k human society and abstabstain from feeding on humans. Jo, fierce as ever, trains to fight against the human vampire slayers while the other sisters try to find their place in society. Laurie is a favorite who badly wants to become a vampire but Jo is afraid to turn him.

Messina is clever with creating a vampire society and history. I enjoyed the footnotes that provided more vampire lore and historical information.

I would recommend this book to students who enjoyed the original “Little Women” and gothic literature or horror movies.

Thank you to the author, HarperTeen, and NetGalley for the ecopy.

This was a really fun and interesting take on the classic novel. There were some decently gory parts too which should be excepted when reading vampire stories. I honestly didn’t expect to like it was much as I did.

An interesting retelling of Little Women. I have to say that Little Women by Louisa May Alcott is my all-time favorite book. It was the book that started my love of reading journey. So, this book caught my eye from the beginning. In the classic story we follow the lives of the March sisters and their trials and tribulations. In this tale of the sisters, we read about them being vampires. It's fascinating taking on the original story. Creative characters and plot. A great story from start to finish.

I love these stories and thought this one was so fun to read! If you love Little Women and Vampires, read this one!

I thought the concept was cute, and this book does an excellent job of adding vampires to the original story. However, I found it a struggle to finish because I had forgotten how much I disliked reading Little Women the first time. That's not on the author of this version, my bad, I should not have requested it. Some classics I find easier to get into but Alcott is just too out of context for me, and the vampires only made me a little less bored with it. I'm sure other people will find it hilarious.

I actually had high hopes for this book. Little Women is on of my favorite books & I love retelling, especially when they’re a little out of the ordinary. But this book fell flat. Some of the best parts were left out, and don’t get me started on how they ruined Beth’s character. If you’ve never read Little Women this might be a good read, but it just isn’t my cup of tea.

First, I'm embarrassed to admit, but I don't think I've ever read the original Little Women. I know enough of the book to know this is an adaptation of the novel.

This novel is about four sisters who live with their "parents", a group of vampires that live as a family, and their relationship with each other, neighbors, and war. I appreciate that they refuse to drink human blood and the efforts they take to keep their neighbors safe. I also like that they live in a time and place where they are not completely shunned. There are still some prejudices, but more than not they are accepted.

While I enjoyed this title, I now have to read the original telling so I can compare/contrast the two. I do think some of my better readers (6th grade) may like this version of Little Women. This might be a good title for a novel group with select students.

I was given the opportunity to read this title by NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

Fans of a “monster mash up” will enjoy reading about the March girls as they’re, uh, grown up? But this adaptation was not something I would return to or read again. It almost felt as if Lynn Messina was really pushed to fit this story in just to ride the wave of vampire fans. Messina is a great writer, though, so I gave 2 stars.

A classic retelling of Little Women. I enjoyed reading this version as much as I enjoyed the original. I laughed so much and it's a perfect funny and horrifying retention.

This was such a fun reimagining! For fans of ‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies,’ ‘Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,’ and ‘Sense, Sensibility, and Sea Monsters.’ Lynn Messina infuses the lovable classic ‘Little Women’ with campy vampire tropes without getting overly absurd or silly. If you like ‘Little Women’ and fun vampires, you will like this book.

Thanks very much to the author and publisher for an advanced e-galley in exchange for an honest review!

Unfortunately this one wasn't for me and I had to put it down at 40%. I love Little Women but didn't like the author's take on the classic. I normally like vampire books but I couldn't finish this one. I was bored and waiting for something interesting and shocking to happen. Sorry. I'm sure there would people who really enjoy it

A clever twist to Little Women where vampirism has been entwined in the story we know and love. It makes it slightly comical. I was unable to finish reading the book in the allotted time, however from what I managed to read, I enjoyed the premise of the characters we know being vampires. It reminded me of Pride & Prejudice & Zombies, the 2016 film.

I thought that I would like this… I, in fact, did not. It was added to my DNF list. I loved little women though. I just felt this twist could have been better. Plot, character personalities, world building, etc.

I love me some retelling, and Little Women + vampires? I ADORED it! It was so fun and unexpected, and very well developed. It respects the original, and it brings new perspectives and surprises along the way; a very fun read.

Unfortunately, this book fell flat in a couple of ways. The weaving in of the original text from Alcott's Little Women to the modern prose was not effective and pulled me as a reader from the story. While a lot of the langue did almost match the original mentor text, it did not have the same tone and drastically changed the story overall. It felt like it was mismarketed.

Thank you Netgalley for the advance reader copy of Little Vampire Women by Lynn Messina, Louisa May Alcott in exchange for an honest review. I really like these mashing stories of a classic and horror/fantasy. I have read Pride, Prejudice and Zombies and a few others and I really like the spin they give to a classic.

Just okay.

I expected something a little more campy, a little more fun to read but it was just okay. There's not much to say about it. I think if you want to read Little Women then just read it. If you want a vampire story- there are a million of those. So...

Thank you to Netgalley for providing me with this book in exchange for my honest opinion. Little Vampire Women is available now.

I’m afraid this review will be a little on the shorter side because I find myself in the strange position of feeling as though I’m almost having to review the original book. I’ve read several of these monster mash-up books (my favorite being Grave Expectations by Charles Dickens and Sherri Browning Erwin being my favorite) and this is the first one that felt so incredibly similar to its source material.

Everyone knows the plot of Little Women. But what if Marmee and Co. were vampires? That should change things more than it really did, which is where I’m getting a little stymied. While the idea is a fun and clever one, the main storyline changed very little, instead having small asides that added a vampiric touch. I would have loved to see the author do more than add in an extra sentence here and there.

The extra bits added served to twist the story ever-so-slightly. For example, the family that the Marches bring Christmas food to are human, so there are an added few sentences about the March women needing to suggest that their gift of raw animals be made into a stew. See what I mean about small bits being added? On a few occasions, it was entertaining, but at other times it threw the pacing off a little.

I feel that the author would have done much better writing her own original book instead of going for a mash-up. Then she would not have had such restrictions on her creativity. She has written several other books and I am 100% sure that her wholly original books are much much better. As it was, I found myself disappointed in Little Vampire Women.

From the Little Women book series, the only book I still have to read is the first book itself and the only reason I can think of not reading it as yet is that I just haven't been inclined to. I have watched the Winona Ryder movie a long time back and don't recall much about it either. Hence, I am not sure myself why I decided to read this vampire version of the classic. I have only managed 3 chapters and I don't think I can read any further.
