From the moment he walked into town it was clear that Chase Dawson was unwelcomed as he was looking for his father. That's what he needs Hannah Callhoun and finds out that he has a twin brother who is a con artist is that up and split finessing a lot of money that isn't his and leaving a baby behind. Now Chase is doing everything he can totally see himself in a good light without being seen as in connection with his brother there were a lot of people who are affected in the wake of his brothers selfish ways.

I really enjoyed this book. I like getting to know Chase and his complicated family life and the big mess he stepped into when looking for his father. He never imagined finding out that he had a brother and left behind Hannah and the baby. It was interesting seeing how he was trying to get into others good graces and help pick up the pieces his brother left behind. Then theres the whole complication of now being around his father a person who he has never known and how their relationship would work out now they know about eachother. I liked the bit of romance that was brewing between Hannah and him and seeing what they decided life would be like after all that has happened. Overall it was a pretty enjoyable book.

This is a Cowboy Romance, and this is the 10th book in the Dawson Family Ranch series. I have not read any other books in this series before picking up this book, but I do think you can read this book as a standalone without any problems. This book was not like any other books I have read, and I really enjoyed the uniqueness of this book's storyline. I liked the characters, and I really loved getting to know all the characters in this book. I found the ending to be everything I wanted out of this book. I was kindly provided an e-copy of this book by the publisher (Harlequin Special Edition) or author (Melissa Senate) via NetGalley, so I can give an honest review about how I feel about this book. I want to send a big Thank you to them for that.

Good book with an unusual storyline. Chase is the son of a single mother and never knew his father. His mom refused to talk about him, leaving Chase to wonder what the story was. After her death, he found a piece of paper with the words Winston, Wyoming, written on it. Taking some time off from his work as a ranch foreman, Chase went to Winston, hoping to find information about his father. He never expected to be greeted by furious townspeople accusing him of being a conman and a woman claiming he was the father of her baby.

Hannah had fallen hard for Kent McCord and was devastated when he disappeared. Not only did he desert her, but he also took the money he'd conned from most of the people in town, even his father. She also suffered setbacks in her business because people believed she was complicit in Kent's actions. She was understandably furious when it looked like Kent had returned to the scene of the crime.

I enjoyed the first meeting between Hannah and Chase. She was furious, and he was confused by the animosity from people he'd never met. It took some work, but Chase convinced Hannah he wasn't Kent. Once she calmed down, Hannah could see the differences between the two men. She was moved by Chase's immediate connection with her son, Danny. Chase barely recovered from that surprise when she introduced him to Kent's father, Owen.

I ached for Chase as he learned the truth of his past. Owen's story was heartbreaking, and I hurt for everything he'd been through. I liked how Hannah served as a bridge between the two men as they got to know each other. There are also sparks of attraction between Hannah and Chase. But Hannah is wary of getting involved with another man after having her trust so brutally betrayed. Their feelings grow stronger as Hannah learns that she can trust Chase. However, Chase has spent so long guarding his heart that he finds it difficult to let down his walls enough to allow Hannah or Owen in.

The book's ending is deeply emotional, with more shocks involving Kent, a health scare for Owen, and Chase having difficulty facing his feelings for Hannah and Owen. I ached for Hannah as she stood up for herself and her needs, even if it meant losing Chase. I had several instances of wanting to shake Chase for being so blind. I loved the scene in the barn when Chase overhears Owen talking to little Danny and the impact it had on him. I liked his big moment with Hannah as his walls finally crumbled. The epilogue was terrific.

The scenes with Chase and Danny were sweet. It's always fun to see guys melt in the presence of a baby, and Chase was no exception. He's experienced with kids thanks to many relations on his mother's side, which helps him get past Hannah's walls. I was also moved by the scenes where Hannah and Owen deal with various town residents and the fallout from Kent's actions. They were heartbreaking but realistic.

Melissa Senate is a new author to me, and this the 1st book in the “Dawson Family Ranch Series” that I have read and I will definitely be reading more in this series. Melissa has a way of pulling the readers in and holding you captive. This is a fast-paced easy entertaining read, drama filled, action packed, mistaken identity, twins separated at birth, twists, turns, great characters and an awesome plot that held me captive and turning page after page. Chase and Hannah meet when he is mistaken for his twin brother. Chase’s brother is a con man who walked away from Hannah and their son. So imagine Chase’s surprise when Hannah thinks he is someone that he is not. As Chase gets to know Hannah, romance is brewing in the air. With what Hannah has been threw Chase is there for Hannah and his nephew.

Will Chase’s brother return and claim Hannah and his son, will Chase fight for Hannah, is there an HEA in store Hannah and Chase?

I received an ARC via NetGalley and HARLEQUIN - Romance (U.S. & Canada), Harlequin Special Edition and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Identical Twins Separated at Birth Mistaken Identity Story

Melissa Senate immediately grips the reader with two hands and shoves them into the story. One of the best opening scenes of any book I’ve read. I instantly connected with Chase Dawson and the unexpected greeting he experienced when he showed up in a small town in Wyoming to find the father he never knew.

The story starts fast with a twist Chase never expected. The curveballs keep coming through a good portion of the book. Within the first chapter, he encounters Hannah, who thinks he is the father of his baby, only he never met her before in his life. As he talks with her, he figures out why he’s received the negative greeting from the town residents and her.

The author doesn’t let up. Throughout the book, there are several shocking reveals interspersed with a budding romance between Hannah and Chase. Both characters show tremendous growth as they learn to let go of past hurts and embrace a new hope in each other.

When I sat down to write this review, I had no clue that this was the tenth book in a series. The book stands on its own. I never felt like I missed something by not having read the other books in the series. The story wrapped up everything nicely for the two main characters, so it felt complete. It was sooooo good that I’ve added the others to my to-read list.

The cover art for this book accurately reveals how Chase’s character responded to the baby in the book. Very touching.

I found this story extremely hard to put down. I could barely wait to finish my workday and pick it up again. Senate delivered a very satisfying, entertaining read with plenty of surprises. I would highly recommend this book to fans of contemporary romance and cowboy romance stories.

THE COWBOYS MISTAKEN IDENTITY is a true old western feel-good story that of course starts with a bump in the road. In this case a really large bump. Chase Dawson discovers a piece of the puzzle that could hopefully answer a myriad of questions. Questions that Chase hadn’t truly realized buried somewhere in his subconscious. Just who was his father. His mother Lynne rather avoided that question all these years. Now with her passing Chase feels the need to follow this small bit of info and see where it takes him. Well it takes him to Winston, Wyoming. But upon arriving there Chase was anything but finding himself welcome. In fact all those he came upon seemed angry and surprised that he would show his face in their small town.
Chase was equally saddened and surprised by their reaction since he had never been in Winston. His home was about five hours away. As far as he knew this was his first time here. But everyone was mad, especially one blonde with a three-month-old baby boy, Hannah. For some reason Hannah was somewhat willing to give him a chance to convince her that his name wasn’t Kent McCord. Even showed her his driver’s license.
And that is how THE COWBOYS MISTAKEN IDENTITY by Melissa Senate grabs hold. Of course you are going to find yourself shaking your head in disbelief, as do practically all the characters in this rather strange and humorous tale of sad results of ill-fated decisions made many years ago. These decisions shaped the lives of so many folks.
Owen McCord wound up raising his son Kent as a single dad when his life kept meeting with heartbreaking ends. Kent for some reason went onto conning many people in this small town. Running away with their hard-earned money and changing the projection of their lives. His own father included, as well as the family of the woman who was carrying his unborn child.
So we find ourselves on a voyage of discovery along with Chase. Just what happened over twenty years ago. How did he get separated from a father and a brother – both never known existed. His life had revolved around a loving single mother. And just how does all this new information impact his life and future.
In THE COWBOYS MISTAKEN IDENTITY we find ourselves taking sides and of course rooting for a happy ending. But not all mistakes or decisions can be corrected or overlooked. It is surely going to take a while to convince everyone that the McCord family had rather successfully hidden some skeletons and the chickens have come home to roost. Melissa Senate does a remarkable job of convincing the reader that this could have happened. Through the reactions of her characters we are willing to suspend disbelief and watch this talented writer pen quite an elaborate scheme.

Nice trope. Identical twins separated at birth. The plot is familiar. Still a nice read with good characters. Even the one we never see
