Definitely worth the wait, another page turner that can’t be put down. Easily read as a stand-alone or follow on to the series you won’t be able to stop reading.

I really enjoyed this mystery and thought it just got better and better. It had a satisfying and realistic ending and I highly recommend.
I guess what I loved the most about this was how invested I became with everyone. The book was skillfully written with surprises at every turn.
This was my second novel by this author and I’m hooked.
I read some of this but mostly chose to listen to the audiobook. Narrated by Jan Cramer and a little over 9 hours I didn’t want it to end.
Thanks Robert Bryndza for writing this and thanks again NetGalley.

Devil's Way
by Robert Bryndza
Pub Date: January 12, 2023
Raven Street
# 4 in the series
Thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
This was a new author for me and I highly recommend it. I am even going back to read the first three in the series.
When Private Investigator Kate Marshall is rushed to hospital after being pulled into a riptide current in the sea, the near-death experience leaves her shaken. During her recovery, she befriends Jean, an elderly lady on the same ward. Jean tells the harrowing story of how her three-year-old grandson, Charlie, went missing eleven years ago during a camping trip on Dartmoor.

By the time Kate is well enough to go home, she's agreed to take on the case, but when Kate and her trusty sidekick Tristan start to look at the events of that fateful night, they discover that Jean has a dark past that could have put Charlie in jeopardy. Great book! 5 stars

The fourth book in the Kate Marshall series, Devil’s Way, may just be my favorite! You can read this book without having read the previous ones. However, knowing Kate’s back story adds to understanding her character and how she reacts to different circumstances. Kate is a former police officer, now working as a private investigator. After having an accident that lands her in the hospital, Kate meets Jean Julings, who asks her to look into the mystery of the disappearance of her grandson, 3-year-old Charlie. Charlie went missing on a camping trip about 11 years ago, and no trace of him has ever been found. Kate and her partner, Tristan, begin investigating and what follows is an interesting, compelling read. The author, Robert Brynda, does an excellent job of creating characters that are authentic and well-drawn and placing them in storylines that keep you reading. Thanks to NetGalley, the author, and publisher for the advanced copy. All opinions are my own.

The latest Kate Marshall thriller is the best yet, plenty of twists and great characterisation, love the interaction between Kate and Tristen. This is fast becoming my favourite series.
I received this book from Raven Street Publishing and Netgalley for a review.

I couldn't wait to read the next Kate and Tristan installment and this did not disappoint - in fact this series just keeps getting better and the picture you build up of the characters makes it feels like you really know them. The story starts in an explosive way with Kate ending up in hospital after an accident and then takes you on so many twists and turns it's impossible to put down - at the end of each chapter you think just one more then end up wishing you hadn't read it so quickly! The characters in the book are all very complex and it leads us to believe one this to then but shot off in another direction when further details are revealed about others! This has been my favourite of all the Kate Marshall stories and Robert writes in such a fabulous way that every one of his books being released becomes an event. I was thrilled to be able to get an advance copy of this but in the same way sad that I now haven't got the release to look forward to! Recommended to anyone who enjoys a thrilling read with believable story line and characters that draw you in and don't let go!

Kate, a former policewoman, and Tristan, her former research assistant, have combined their respective skills to become a private detective agency. With very little current business, they jump at the opportunity to solve the eleven-year-old cold case of the disappearance of three-year old Charlie. When Charlie's grandmother Jean hires the partners to find out what happened to him, the reader goes along for a twisty journey to find the truth. Set in the south of England, the story is very well written, the characters are relatable, and the plot is filled with unpredictable turns. A truly satisfying story from beginning to end.

Thanks to the publisher and to NetGalley for this advance copy to read and review.

Much thanks to NetGalley, Robert Bryndza and Raven Street Publishing for the advance read of 'Devil's Way' in exchange for an honest review.
First let me admit that I rarely delve into procedural mysteries involving police and/or private investigators doggedly tracking down leads and clues that'll lead them to the 'perp;. But the ;plot description of this one somehow hooked me right away, and author Bryndza's storytelling gripped me from beginning to end. The characterizations are so well drawn and most importantly, the book makes skillful use of the scenic but strangely ominous moors where its central crime originated.
P.I. Kate Marshall's dedication to ocean swims lands her in the hospital after a near fatal bout with a riptide. She shares her room with Jean, ,an elderly woman coping with the memories of a terrible family tragedy. Eleven years ago. on a camping holiday with her troubled daughter, Jean's 3 year old grandson went missing then ruled presumably drowned by the police inquiry.. Living with the crushing grief of her daughter's subsequent suicide and what she considers the unsolved mystery of the boy's true fate, Jean holds out hope that the child might have survived.......and hires Kate and her young partner Tristan to find out what happened out there in the treacherous landscapes of the moors.
Once Kate and Tristan's hunt for the chilling truth gets underway, the many twists and turns they encounter kept me firmly glued to "Devil's Way" to the very end. Our relentless sleuths deal with a past brutal murder related to the missing child and even more heartrending discoveries. Yes it's that kind of 'stay-up-all-nighter' that you can't stop reading till the final revelations unfold.
And I particularly admired the final emotional pages of the case's aftermath, which I wouldn't dream of spoiling here......other than to say that for avid mystery readers, this one's a 5 star find.

Kate Marshall is an ex copper and now a private investigator. She finds herself in hospital following a near death experience after being caught, when swimming, in a riptide. Whilst recovering she meets Jean who tells her about her grandson, Charlie who disappeared aged three eleven years ago whilst on a family camping trip on Dartmoor.
Intrigued Kate agrees to investigate, although not terribly hopeful as the police investigation originally came to nothing.
Aided by her assistant Tristan they follow lead after lead and eventually reach a totally unexpected conclusion
I loved this, well written and believable not at all formulaic - can’t wait for the next one

Got mixed up and got this in ebook and audio format but as this author is one on my go to list I was happy to have both. The story is a bit dark for my liking and i much preferred Robert Bryndza’s earlier work. I was much more. interested in Kate Marshall when she was a police officer than in her current PI job but that is personal taste.
All the thrills and spills you would expect from this author with a big surprise thrown in for good measure.

A quick read, this book grabbed my attention from the first page. Although I had not read the previous books in the series, this did not detract from my enjoyment of the story. The characters are well developed, and I did not feel I had missed out on their back story as enough detail is given for those reading this as a standalone novel.
However, I will now be on the lookout for the rest of the series!
With thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This is a superb read. Kate Marshall, a former police officer, now private investigator is hired with her business partner Tristan to investigate what happened to missing child. Charlie was three years old, camping in a tent with his grandmother when he went missing during the night. Later, his mother in her agony committed suicide. Kate finds herself in hospital after a swimming accident and the grandmother is in the bed next to her. That leads to the commission to find what happened to Charlie, The story is exceedingly well conceived with fascinating twists and turns and a rewarding climax. The characters are well drawn too. This book keeps the reader’s attention from page one to the end. I strongly recommend it.

I really enjoyed this. First book I’ve read by this author and won’t be the last. I was gripped from the start to the end. This book can be read as a standalone. I didn’t realise it was part of a series but made no difference as it was easy to follow. I liked Kate and Tristan’s characters, they make the story engaging. I found the story addictive and well written. I couldn’t put it down, with lots of twists and turns to keep you reading.
Definitely recommend, if you like suspenseful, thrilling murder mysteries this book is for you.
Thanks to #NetGallery and #RavenStreetPublishing for an arc in exchange for an honest review.

A good solid crime story with a good twist. I like the main characters Kate and Tristan and there is a good pace to the story. Some of the plot needs a suspension of reality but overall it delivers what it promises- a gripping crime story with some unexpected twists.

This is a new author for me, and I was impressed with all of the five star reviews. I found the subject difficult, the kidnapping of a little boy, Charlie, three years old, is taken while his parents are in another tent, his grandmother outside the tent fending off a drunken ex, while someone takes the child, or the child disappeared on his own. Kate and Tristan, investigators are hired to find Charlie, by the Grandmother Jean, who's daughter kills herself over her missing child, this is a heavy book. I appreciate #Netgalley and #RavensBooks for allowing me this Arc. If you can handle the heavy subject matter you will like it, if you are saddened by the ugliest side of life, this one may not fit your list.
Thank you,

Devil's Way
By Robert Bryndza

This is yet another missing child story. Jean Julings is camping with her daughter, her husband and their young son Charlie. Charlie is sharing a tent with is grandmother. When Jean steps outside to have a cigarette and meets up with her ex Declan, a struggle ensues. While this is going on, Charlie disappears. In spite of a massive search, Charlie is not found.

Years later, Kate Marshall, a private investigator, nearly drowns when she's caught in a riptide. While in the hospital recovering, she meets her roommate, who turns out to be Jean. Jean hires Kate and her partner, Tristan, to find out what happened to Charlie.

The tale unfolds from there. Kate and Tristan are drawn in many different directions in their search for Charlie's fate. When the denouement finally arrives and the mystery is solved, the reader may find that he could not have seen that one coming! A clever piece of work.

I am a huge fan of Robert Bryndza amd the latest offering in the Kate Marshall series doesn't disappoint.
Kate meets someone in hospital who tells her the tale of how her grandson disappeared on the moors and asks Kate for help. What follows is twists, turns and dark secrets to be revealed
Another great book from one of my favourite authors

Thoroughly enjoyed every single page!
Kate and Tristan are great characters and their competency and tenacity brings an added dimension to both the characters and the story.
I suspected many, stumbled on the correct perpetrators, changed my mind and was still pleasantly surprised by the reveal at the end. Armchair detectives could not ask for more!

A very readable book from an author new to me. Although this was the latest book in a series that did not affect my enjoyment in reading it as a standalone.
The plot follows the investigation by a private investigators Kate and her young partner Tristan into the historic disappearance of a young boy.
Kate is an ex police officer and a recovering alcoholic while Tristan is a gay man from a working class background but the gel well together as a team.
The plot covers suicide, drug abuse and mental illness but not in depth only as it is relevant to the story. The writing style is good and and moves the story on at a good pace while managing to give insights into the lives of Kate and Tristan
An author I would happily read more from
